I haven't ever been out there, but considering you can actually see rocks inches below the surface in the video, I would guess that it's reputation is well earned.
@streetchdude You can buy loads of mounts and all sorts of things for the GoPro. It comes with a flat mount and a curved mount. The flat one you could stick where your leash would go, and the curved one would go on a helmet if you want.
I flippin love the Island man.. Nice footage i noticed when i used a gopro up home at newy they make the surf look smaller than it actually is..Keep it up.

i have a go pro too use it for skimboarding and bodyboarding ive never done really heavy waves like this but your local waves wont pose a threat but in case just get the surf package it has a foam thing for the back so it floats if it comes off its saved me like 1000 dollars worth of go pros

+Patrick Evers Yeah you should try looking down the wave as your about to take off and see exposed rock staring at you, its a fucking brutal break and worse in smaller swells because it breaks right on top of it. Atleast when its bigger it breaks abit further out.
mate some of the barrels were pretty deep but to come out of the deeper ones u have to try to lift the nose of the board slightly if u do that then u will be the best at barrels ( better than me :) )

@brado2230 thing is, i've bodyboarded pipeline at 8 foot and padang padang in Bali in a solid 6 foot swell but I wouldn't be gutsie enough to bodyboard shark island in any conditions :D

just a tip for next time. set ur gopro to 60fps or even 50. slo mo works better and smoother
