I’ve seen John Hiatt perform five times but to see him with Carl Perkins, oh, man. Amazing.

I had the honor of opening for John Hiatt in 1988 and also in 1993, in two different towns and two different bands (the local openers). Never actually met him, but the rooms were sold out and his show was great. First time I ever opened for a guy with an actual guitar tech and a whole arsenal of guitars.

You can tell John's energized by the presence of Rodney and Carl. This is classic! Thanks for posting this. MY FAVE HIATT SONG!

This is a lovely groove and atmosphere. I wish they'd made a video when they cut the album version, Jim Keltner on drums, Ry Cooder rippin' some very tasty chicken pickin' licks. Did they ever do a version on the Tube?
Love this song, never fails to pick me up.

When Rodney Crowell and Carl Perkins are grabbing onto your groove and grinning ear to ear - you're groovy.

I saw a Cadillac with Maryland license plates on the island of Crete back in the 1980s. No cow horns, however....

John reminds me of Steve Earle's son Justin Townes Earle - got personality.

It's funny that there is actually a pedal steel player in this performance...
"One more heartfelt steel guitar chord Girl is gonna do me in..."
They should have given the guy a solo! 😄
