Namaste ji. Excellent teaching. Question to all.. Assume the classes are on A#. Will it work for male students whose scale is C#? I am sure there will be many male students. Thank you.
Hi Krishna, I’m a male student of Bidisha Ji writing this response. My situation is similar to you. My natural scale is C. What does this means is that my vocal range is approximately from G in the lower octave to E in the upper Octave (in Keyboard notation). With this I can sing from Pa in the lower Octave till Ga in the upper Octave (in terms of Indian Sargam notation). Since A# is only 2 semitones lower still you will be able to sing from Dha in the lower octave till Re in the upper octave in A# scale with the same vocal range. This means there is quite a bit of overlap between the vocal range in C and A# scale. Hence we would be able to practice along with Bidisha ji comfortably and once you learned the song you can sing in your scale C. Many male students in the class who sing in B, C, C# etc. do this always. Hope this clarifies your question.
