For people not familiar with the history of Trent's stomping grounds, the region was once dominated by the Pleistocene Epoch's Lake Lahontan, one of the world's largest-known freshwater lakes. The tan, flat areas you see occasionally in Trent's videos like @3:58 are the remnants of the lake bed. The water over modern-day Black Rock Desert was 400 ft deep, and what was the shores of the ancient lake have successively lower "wave-cut beach platforms" as the water level went down over thousands of years. Modern-day Pyramid Lake was the deepest point in Lake Lahontan and was much larger in historic times before most of the water from the Truckee River was diverted for irrigation. The mountains east of Hwy 447 between Gerlach and Wadsworth were once an island over 100 miles long in the middle of Lake Lahontan. Trent is lucky to get to fly over such a beautiful (there's that word again) area, and the more you know about it the more amazing it is.
I aint been to any American deserts but I have worked in Saudi Arabia and Libya and it is true that all of these deserts at one time were green and lush with running water. Plenty of fossils , petrified wood and Graffiti on rocks etc to prove it. Regards, Jim in NI UK

Haley, have you ever been along when Trent is practicing for STOL competitions? I once did a glider ride from a winch launch. It was like being launched from a steam catapult on an aircraft carrier. (to me). I think it's wonderful that you participate even though you seem less than comfortable with flying (in small planes). God bless

Gary Barth, I grew up around GA, first going hands-on at the age of four, sitting on my dad's lap flying a souped up Aeronca Champ. They named it "Baclava"... It was a "thin fabric airplane with a couple of nuts inside". I hurt my back and lost my career just after I started ground school at the same FBO my mother used to get her license. So.... I fly simulator too. I use FSX, some add-on scenery, and a full-blown HOTAS cockpit built into my motorhome. I regularly put my daughter to sleep to the sound of rotor blades or a Mooney M20B. The sound system is built into the underside of her bunk bed.

Absolutely the best RUclips channel..... Every time I go on RUclips always check to see if uploaded a video. Working on my A&P hopefully when I get It I able to get and work on my experimental airplane. Absolutely love your videos keep uploading pleeeaaassseee.
I love the "coffee on the hill" part.. On coffee.... Here are a couple tips from a fellow coffee lover. And don't take anything I say here too seriously, these are just what I use, and like to use. First on field prep: For an Insulated 34 oz stainless press Nissan makes a great one that I use for camping here in Alaska (keeps it hot as it's a thermos/press). As I noticed you used a glass one (winces at how that could break at camp easily). If you like to fresh grind it just before pressing, Porlex makes a compact portable stainless hand crank unit with an adjustable ceramic grinding (so you get just the right grind size for the press, or essresso, or drip, etc.. ). I am sure there are other manufactures that make good products but I have found these two have lasted me YEARS with no issues. One only needs to replace the screen on the press now and again when it wears out, and I have been using 2 Nissan presses now for 25 years. Second on good beans: This is more subjective and for personal taste, I myself prefer a good low acid rich flavored coffee. My current favorite "non flavored bean" is Tanzania Peaberry roasted by North Pole Coffee Roasting ( northpolecoffee.com/ and they do ship from Alaska). I sometimes like the flavored blends, but on the whole I prefer either straight coffee or flavoring it myself with a little ground cardamom tossed in when I brew it. But hey it's always fun to try out other roasters, and bean selections to keep one occupied. So great video as always from a fellow drone pilot and coffee lover !

I just saw a 1965 Cessna 172 for sale for $10,000. They said it's cheap because it has cosmetic rudder damaged and it hasn't been started in a year.
