Yo Day9, awesome to see you having fun with the game! The Forest Mysteries are very important to pay attention to!! I know it might look overwhelming, but it is actually quite simple. Each season has an effect associated with it. The possitive effects are active during the calm seasons while the negative modifiers only occur during the storm season. The number underneath all of the debuffs are connected to the the current Forrest Hostility (the number next to the red eye at the top of the screen).
While I do think the game has a great tutorial, I think it fails to convey this sort of information properly to the player. Forest Hostility is such an important mechanic to manage. Hostility increases with villager count, employing woodcutters, opening glades, and more. Managing your woodcutters actually becomes very important during the storm- hence they made the small axe icon button with an X over it - when you click it you can instantly unemploy every woodcutter. You sometimes want to do this as it lowers hostility and thus the negative debuffs to your citizens resolve. Honestly there is much more- but I feel like my comment is already getting too long! :) really enjoying the way you talk about games and how you try to teach other players, so I just wanted to give back :)

Hi day9, that neck adjustment you did with your hands right after winning the tutorial was identical to one I did 3 years ago and I've been using neck brace since.
I would advice against it. I dislocated the atlas chronically and have had bi weekly chiropractic adjustments with some minor improvments.
I also became unable to play starcraft because my dislocated atlas joint pressures the vagus nerve to the heart and the tension level of playing starcraft or other activities that have even the slightest level of tension is impossible to tolerate.
I also need to lie down at on and off at least 5 hours a day, and have to support my neck with my hand between typing all the time.
So I'm begging you, be careful with that neck popping! I've never had any illness worse for the mind and body. (Technical name is cervical instability of c4 vertebrae and atlas instability)

Having played this game for a while in it's various forms...man is it excellent. I love building games, but literally all of them seem to have such a hard time figuring out a way to keep the player engaged after you figure out the winning loop. All of them, you lose or do silly one off missions until you figure out the completely fail-safe order in which to win, every time. Against the Storm is, legit, the only one I've come across to solve this issue, by introducing rogue elements. And in a great, thoughtful way, not just tacked on like so many others I've played. This is the ONLY city builder I've ever come across in my entire life, since playing the OG Sim City, where if you look up the most "efficient" way to build things, everyone will disagree. Because there are so many different ways the game challenges you, and so many different playstyles in which you can overcome those challenges. It's superb, and the devs are the most engaged and involved with the community of literally any game I've ever seen. They actively take in feedback, accept criticism, and make changes based on what the community says. There is no "we know better than you, we have 150 years of experience" sense, at all. They legit have implemented things where they flat out stated they are skeptical, but the community suggested it so they'll try it. They admit when they're wrong, and revert changes the community ended up being way off on, and every single thought is transparent and open.
If you even slightly enjoy city builders, BUY THIS GAME. It is, hands down, the best of the genre, AND has for my money the most open and caring dev team I've ever seen. Every single game company out there should be held to the amazing standard these devs' set, and the best way to do that is with your wallet and with your time.

I'd recommend checking out DotAGE, it's got similar properties, but since it's developed by one person, it's not nearly as polished as AtS. But I agree overall, AtS was the first city builder to hold my interest past the 100 hour mark. Looking forward to the Queen's Hand Challenge mode, too, as it increases the replayability further by making the entire storm cycle into a roguelike mode, not just individual settlements.

Aglets are "common knowledge" because of an episode of Phineas and Ferb dedicated to the word.
That's not even a hyperbole, thought the episode started wanted to know the word for "plastic ends of shoe laces". Also, the episode ends in "it was all a dream", because you cannot have main characters of kids show knowing the word Aglets stay cannon. Obviously.

A nice little detail that I never noticed before is why are some things moveable and others not...... Camps are actually caravans they have little wheels on and everything, so move for free. Shelters are basic built from wood so can be moved but a little cost wood to do so. Anything else constructed from complex building materials is permanent.

I really enjoyed this in EA. Need to give it a go again now it's officially released. I wonder if it's still a good idea to take at least 20 coal as your starting resource and then make sure it's not burnt for the fire. It will generally allow you to resolve the first glade encounter so you can expand early without too much risk.
