this is actually criminally underrated i am so glad youtube recommended this stuff to me
Just glad you like it :)
I am absolutely addicted to these albums. I bought a couple of the occult albums i just put on repeat and i can't wait to just buy your whole discography off band camp in a week or two!
Thank you so much! The support means a lot :) really glad you like my music
@@Occams_Laser your work is the soundtrack of choice when I'm in my workshop building laser blasters and rayguns! Really gets my creativity going in overdrive, it sort of puts me on a journey and adventure with the hype and vibes I get from it!
Satanic Panic, Apostles, Hellfire, The Maw, Enthralled, these all Slap! I'm trying to contain the headbang or head knock (Night at the Roxbury- car ride "what is love") at work. But losing the battle. 🤘Fire.
I'm really glad you like those tracks :) thanks so much for the support!
YEAHHH LETS GO THE WHOLE PENTALOGY IS HERE
So much perfection in one video. fantastic🎧 😎💪
Great way to start 2022
I really like how when I go through your albums, I notice an improvement in quality and musicality over time. It's not just a journey through the story of the album, but through your progress as an artist!
Thank you so much! Making music for me has always been about the endless learning journey :) It's mad how quickly 10 years has flown by! Thanks so much for the support
Very atmospheric sound 🔥
Love this sound!
It loves you right back 👹
LET'S GOOOOOO
Hell yeah, waking up in the new year to this, life is good. 🖤
Uhhhhh son! Dude, love your music, I've been listening over the past few days. I've got to say you're one of my favorite darksynth artists now. Also love the name Occams Laser, that's perfect.
Thank you so much :)
@@Occams_Laser Thank you for the music. It's gotten me through much overtime at work!
Fantastic, thanks
01:47:49 Very good.
Top 5 tracks you're personally most proud of?
Quarantine, Abandoned Vows, Deficient Justice, The Lovers, Illumination.
Seeing as I’ve released around 250 tracks there are way more than five tracks I’m proud of but those are my favourites
@@Occams_Laser A few tracks for sure. Even ignoring the quality of the music, your work ethic is crazy.
Somehow Savage Acts makes me think of City Under Siege from the Transformers movie.
I’ll take that as a compliment :D
This guy gotta find someone to do the vocals for him lmao sounds like when you're a kid and try to do your deepest possible voice haha
Ill admit sometimes I’ve tried a few weird ideas, some work and some less-so 🤓
New subscriber. Epic tunes mate.
Thanks so much 🙌
finally 🤗
🤘this is great!
@Occams_Laser, Not to sound too discouraged, but I am working on a video game on my free time and am also trying to compose the music myself and code for the game, It is set in the far distant future with the main character struggling to scrounge for resources in a ravaged wasteland with aging war robots, mutants, evolved plants, all fighting for a decaying planet. When I see my characters walking around I think dark synth and need more practice in this genre. Every time I puts something down in Fruity Loops I already feel like I messed up or I move to quickly into the next part of the song and don't let the vibe linger longer.
I guess what i am asking is, how were you able to retain the ambience of your trilogy and pentalogy with over 10 tracks an album while still making a clear OL sound and fit that in the collection of works!? I find myself stuck picking key signatures/modes, time, tempo, chords, drum rhythm, fills etc. and each song being very different from the last with nothing that ties it all together makes the whole project frustrating and a mess. I really want each character's theme to shine and in boss fights lightly float over some of the heavy sections, but when I start writing my ideas into the music, I lose direction or lack motivation to continue the work i started and start over and over again.
Your dedication to music production is a superpower.
I listen to your music at work every day and love everything about it! 🔥
Some advice for a starting composer who took music theory but still gets stuck in the weeds?🙏
First off thank you so much for the kind words!! I'm really glad you like my music :)
Making music is a weird beast, it might seem like i make it look easy as i think by the end of the year i'll have over 400 tracks out in total. BUT, and it is a big but... I still have no idea what i'm doing a lot of the time :D
The biggest bit of advice i would say is try not to force making music, my approach is usually to sit down for an hour and try out a few instrument presets and mess about until i find a chord or sound that i like and then try to make the bones of a track around it. I tend to make just 1minute demos like this for a few weeks then i look back and pick out the best ones to then explore more. With this way of working you don't end up wasting as much time forcing a track with less potential into something you vaguely like.
I have around 1000 demo tracks that will never see the light of day, and that's part of the fun, you have to find out what doesn't work as much as finding the potential tracks to lead towards progress.
Another technique you could try is to find a track that already exists that you like, look up the bpm and create a new project where you basically try to replicate the track sound-for-sound, it can help figure out how other artists structure tracks and then you can put those skills to use in future projects.
Fundamentally there are no set in stone rules to making music, especially with darksynth, the key is to make sure it doesn't get frustrating and to enjoy the process as much as you can.
I wish you all the luck, and stick at it, you can do it!
@@Occams_Laser Thank you for the advice! And now I don't feel as bad that I have hundreds of 1 minute demos that are busts if you have so many as well haha.
I never liked copying tracks because it felt kinda wrong to do that, but i can see from a learning/teaching perspective why it might be okay to observe a track in more than just sound to see what makes it work. Then go off in a direction of my own.
I hope that I will have that piece I'm proud of. And then an album, and then eventually the game. And all my effort to do this (entirely for fun) stays exciting and the thrill of composing and game design stays throughout the project.
@@damiancatlin5409 You already have a key part that a lot of people never have and that's a goal in mind. That helps a lot, you already have a vision, its now a case of slowly paving the way and i know you'll get there :)
The begining of the first track remind me a Turrican stage... Good feeling 🙂
Turrican games have really fun soundtracks so I’ll take that as a huge compliment 👹
@@Occams_Laser You can ! I found the track, it's "Check the gripper"
ruclips.net/video/ENPd9PEglSA/видео.html
Love your work !
WOW! Yeah i can definitely hear the similarity there!
@@Occams_Laser Hehe, if you like Turrican's tracks, I have spent many hours to make some covers and a special megamix on Fasttracker II. All stuff available on my channel ;)
Running enhancer for youtube & playing this at x1.10 speed... it certainly doesn't get enhanced at all, with pitch getting so darn messed up
Is music at 1.10x a thing? Almost like reverse vaporwave :D
im getting into making music so i can use it in a project of mine and i want something like this.
Good luck on your music making journey, I hope it works perfectly with your project 👹
I'm now coding like a demon!
🔥👹🔥
I *adore* Digital Alchemy, but I can't find the lyrics online anywhere :(
If anyone figures it out, please let me know!!
You and me survive to see
our lives in Digital Alchemy
the blood inside your veins
is like the wires of circuitry
So rebuild my mind
refrag my life
restore my memory
backup my drives
update my vital core
restart my heart
I’m waking up
rebooting to the world
This virtual life in digital alchemy
Strip back the world
re-write the code
instil a part of anarchy
we break the chain restart again
come with us in digital alchemy
@@Occams_LaserOh my goodness, thank you so much! I've had the song stuck in my head for days but couldn't figure out some parts so I was just mumbling like every other line 😂
I’m just glad you like the song 👹
