We sang this at my daughter's funeral. It gave me such peace and hope of seeing her again. She passed away at only 10-1/2 weeks. I praise God that we have music to sing that gives us hope, draws us nearer to Him, and can reach people in their hearts.

Good for you! In the 70s we used to follow them round the country, when it was the three siblings and Martin Carthy. Electrifying. That sound just went right thrugh you. You could hear Norma without a microphone about five miles away :-) For Pence & Spicy Ale and Sound Sound Your Instruments of Joy are probably the best albums. See if you can find Regal Slip too -- they were great.
Interesting I was just thinking the other day how literature and songs from the 1800s and before focused so frequently on death, the afterlife, morality, coping with the sorrows on earth, divinity, etc. You don't see that anywhere near so often in modern literature and music. Wonder if it's because culture is geared to pandering to the youth these days (and thereby selling them lots of shiny nice toys), and those are not subjects which interest young people much, where before, authors and writers were aiming for the grownups, and people who were ready and willing to spend time thinking about death. Of course, part of it is just that before modern medicine, death was a plain part of life, and _anyone_ might die at any given day, and it'd just be business as usual. Now every seems to think of a 70-year life as some sort of right, and don't really consider the reality of mortality. It dawns on you more and more the older you get, but once upon a time it was something for everyone to think about and be aware of. Not sure but that it wasn't spikritually better for people to never be sure if death was waiting for them next week. I mean, the same is true today, but no-one thinks of it. WE all go about life, knowing that SOMEONE might die next week....but not US. But of course, we MIGHT. It happens still.

Compare the lyrics of “Work, Boys, Work (put your shoulder to the wheel)”, that as long as you have enough to buy a meal that’s all you need in life, to a disgusting pornographic song like W.A.P. Or Ariana Grande licking semen off her wrists. We also believed that death wasn’t the end. Now, people are by large nihilistic amoral monsters. Get dat bread nigguh.

I would suggest starting with the Gospels of Luke and John. Many Historians of ancient times, archaeologists, social historians and observers (Christian or otherwise) accept a very many of the Bible's secular aspects (i.e. people, places, events etc) as being true, if not the spiritual as well, and continue to make new discoveries and compile evidences, The reason such discoveries etc do not make the main newspapers or popular social media is that the consequences are too far reaching for today's culture to cope with.
