While police ruled it a suicide with no foul play, his family suspects murder, citing evidence suggesting a fight.

      @SLAMBANGO wrong. AI is advertised to do jobs quicker and more efficiently. a better example would be.
      imagine paying ten guys to sort through paper work. now you can hire a guy that is supposed to sort the paper work many times faster, but is quite unreliable.
      and you end up needing the other ten guys to fat check all his work to make sure it is all good. you now have eliminated the benifits of hiring the new guy.
      this is basically what is going on with AI. unreliable, prone to attacks, and is expensive.

    Anthropic taking a principled stand against Pentagon misuse of its technology was both the right thing to do, and also the right thing for business. Anthropic already had a better business model, and now they're market share is growing while OpenAI declines. Many of us have complicated relationships with AI: we love the technology and the tool while also fearing its implications. Having at least one leading AI company show signs of caring about the rest of us... goes a long ways.

    It is not only the water spent in cooling while running the datacenters. To produce the chips, the base boards, etc, etc is highly (very) energy and water intensive (you need a lot of ultra high purity water for the fabs, high quality quartz -> yes, you cannot use the silicon in the sand). So, the cost is even bigger for the environment and everyone, just for some supposed "saved time" when reviewing a document that you should be reading anyway.

      @j33531337 Month ago

      @verttikoo2052 hard "money" is not about trust because it is real wealth; credit is about trust. the magic of this psychological operation ponzi scheme is that they tricked everyone who is incapable of critical thought into believing credit is money. jp morgan himself told us that only gold is money and everything else is credit, in his words because they had killed silver as money by the crime of 1873; silver is the first and real money of which all else is a derivative. they have lost control of their financial ponzi so they are now stealing as much as they can get away with before sacrificing the dollar as most know it; this is what this war is about.

    • @D64NZ
      @D64NZ Month ago +1

      @verttikoo2052 exactly. You can't get bailed out when the US has got no money and is building up debt at record speed even before this idiotic war. It costs $2 billion every day, let alone 27 US bases destroyed, 5 jets shot down, 5 tankers damaged or destroyed, $7 billion worth of radar and comms gear up in flames, and repairs to make on the Carrier Abe Lincoln after it took multiple hits. Years of missiles that cost $7.5 million each to shoot down $20,000 drones was never going to work, and oil prices everywhere have skyrocketed. It has united a formerly fragmented Iran who is proving in real time what a paper tiger the USA military is and many big countries are taking notice.

    • @Muaddibize
      @Muaddibize 23 days ago

      @D64NZ Countries have infinite amount of cash. Want to know why ? Because they can just vote how much the debt they want to accept. Anything above that stops existing. USA never did that but other countries regularly did it : Any communist country to ever exist. Germany did it both during the rise of Hitler and in the aftermath of WW 2. Austria did it in the aftermath of WW 1. Spain did it after the end of the Napoleonic wars. And examples can be found almost in any country if its old enough.

    • @D64NZ
      @D64NZ 23 days ago

      @Muaddibize That's not how cash reserves work, and the only reason the US dollar didn't crash out decades ago is because it is pegged to the price of oil. Once it loses the pegging the entire currency will crash to basically nothing because of how much "money printing" they have done over the last 50 years. The pedo-dollar is on its way out and once that goes, so does the USD as a reserve currency. We have already seen this happen historically about 6 times. The Dutch Gilder used to be the Reserve currency for example. There is a good reason it went out, and the British pound took over, etc etc. We will now see the end of the USD and the start of the Yuan as global reserve currency over the next few years.

      Water is used to cool, you need electricity to pump water through, and then cool water that’s pumped turns hot when done.
      Hot water needs to be cooled before going back in

    • @irredenta1900
      @irredenta1900 29 days ago

      The water is evaporated for cooling purposes, like sweat. That's hugely efficient, but the water is lost to the atmosphere. If you don't evaporate the water, you have to get the heat out of it before you can reuse it, which is the original problem all over again.

    I don't know if it's like that but we've all seen one, toxic coworker in a high enough position they seemingly 99% of the company doesn't see toxic because they smile and manipulate everyone... The 1% that see it either just leave or try to do something and gets shunned out after being called the "bad one". We've all had it happen around us, most of us choose to ignore it.

    Also, they could try a create a new processor company, that's better
    equipped to handle large scale computing at a cheaper cost.
    Yes, it would be a hard investment, but instead of relying on the whims
    of current proccesor manufacturers, it's sometimes better to become
    simply independant witha singular focus, which is AI support processing,
    so processor that only handle and are specifically designed for AI support,
    instead of using generalized support units.

    Sam Altman is college drop out, who thought he was too smart for an education. He knows how to cash and dash, but he has no idea how to run a business. The people who run successful companies, know you have to have business model that works. It's basic to business, but you can survive without it. Altman can't tell were the money is coming from, and how it will pay the rent Sam is killing Open AI.

    LLMs will hit a development wall sooner rather than later. The tech bros are just hoping to create enough hype around their companies to last long enough until the "next" big thing. What we are calling "AI" is NOT artificial intelligence - the tech is amazing sure - but it isnt intelligent, innovative or even reliable due to hallucinations. It is a super fast pattern recognition mathematical marvel - with specific uses outside of its ability to entertain our imaginations but at a tremendous environmental cost. Not really applicable to make our daily lives easier unless we write boiler plate letters, etc daily. AI doesnt create anything, it uses data that it was trained on to predict word choices - but unless you proof it - you risk plagiarism or halucinated data.

    • @paperscorpion

      Water resources are consumed through the process. Cleaning, filtering, evaporation, waste heat, chemicals and filter material, the energy cost of moving it. Globally water won't be created or destroyed, just moved, dirtied, and dumped in the ocean, but the local system water resource will absolutely be consumed. There will absolutely be less of the resource available to other needs, the environment, agriculture, human survival,etc.

You can’t “copyright” an art style. The capabilities is where it losses. Even the simple stuff to make mundane tasks it can’t do.
