I definitely agree! I am currently working on a video talking about just that. I have had a lot of trial and error in terms of recouping costs so I can definitely pass on what I've learned.
I'm selling some of them on marketplace and I'm donating the rest to some local families as well as to our local thrift shop. I honestly try to recoup some costs but I'm also apart of some local Facebook groups where lower income families express interest in particular toys (ie. Paw Patrol) and I'll try to help out as much as I can.
Ha!! This is exactly what my children's rooms used to look like!! They are grown now but guess what? Those toys are packed in about 20 large plastic totes and stored in a shed outside so i have not progressed any in decluttering - i have just moved it to another spot!!
Haha! I'm sure once my kids get older there will be some toys I just cannot part with. I'm fine with all the toys, they are only kids for a short time but I do have a rule that it has to have a spot like in a toy box or on a shelf. If there is no more room then it is time for a declutter! We thankfully freed up some toy box space for the upcoming holidays :)
