@Jim Nickles They issued a ban on the use of bows and crossbows against Christians and Catholics, as part of the Pax et Treuga Dei movement, who were really concerned about warfare among Christians (wanting instead that energy being spent on external foes) It hardly ever stopped anyone, except for those rare few lords and monarchs who banned their use on the internal level, but gladly fielded them against opponents. See it as an attempt by the Church to engineer more unity in Christianity rather than a morally-based ban on weapons.
Probably someone said this before but why don't you use a pulley system to draw the string back. In a compound bow the cams are designed for fast release of an arrow but with your system you don't need to worry about that. You've already got two pullys at the front and I'm sure that doing a lot of the help when pulling the string back probably more more than the actual rubber.
Hey Joerg, did you consider that you could put the front of the instant legolas against the ground, and “draw” the bow by pushing down with your body weight?
Ah, the full size version with rubber expansion, that we all hoped to see! When I saw that thing I knew it was sent from Shadiversity :) Btw: I think climbing ladders a lot (like we did working on cell phone base stations) would probably be a good training for that pulling motion, as you are pulling you own body weight pluse a few dozens of kilograms about 500 meters in vertical spread over a day. Of course your great invention makes this all unneccessary - but could you build a version that relies on an additional bow turned around for recreating the rubber's effect :)
Awesome. I think that without the rubber bands you could push the front into the ground or a tree to give the extra few cm until you can grasp the handle.
The fact that he didn't say "one more time, just for you" at the end of the video proves that theres no fun to shoot this bow. Seem like its 500 magnum of the archery world)

Saw that too!
I had a long bow as a child, it was hard work!
I'd love to see a foot assisted loading hoop added to some of your designs. They always fascinated me, as well as archers using even larger long range bows, laying on their backs using their feet to draw.
Shad+Jeorg=happiness
You mean, as a ship?

Amazing upgrade on such an mainstream/populair and ancient invention. And ofcourse leave it to tze germans for these kinds of shenanigans. Love from your western low country brothers jorge!
I wonder how the Sliding-Instant Legolas Effects the Archers paradox or arrow wobble.
This is far most the greatest english accent ever. The greatest laugh, as well. Love this guy. Regards from upnorth, brother.
Hey Joerg, i’ve been working on a new slingshot idea inspired by your V slingshot. Id love to send you some pictures of my prototype and get some feedback and suggestions!
It would probably be easier to contact him through Facebook
Thank you for another excellent and fascinating video!
first laugh at 0:02
wow I was skeptical of this device at first but the addition of the rubber bands really make this a worthwhile device. Very cool.
Very impressive. I think you have to do some armor piercing test with this before sending it back. Br I'll ng back the viking shields, chainmail, aluminum and steel plates!
What a very unique invention Joerg! Your mind is something special! I think when you get so old you croak, your brain needs to be preserved so that 100 years from now when the brain to computer interface is perfected then you can amaze future generations for ever!
Hey Jorg, I'm from Brazil. I love your Channel!!!
I love that you demonstrate how difficult this is to draw for you even with the Jay-SIL device on it. It is really interesting to me since I have followed you on youtube during your muscle building seance a few years ago. Great video and great device. Keep it up!
In Medieval times this invention alone would grant you a title Prince Joerg in Holy Roman Empire ;)
hide yourself in the forest and train your archers then you might be King.
@Jim Nickles What? If it helped the powerful, your progresses were rewarded. Medieval religious societies were not the Imperium from Warhammer 40k.
Wow the aiming time is the game changer , well done and I can't wait to see the long bow men try it out I'm sure he will love it once he masters it
if something goes snap, rather than lose an eye, i can see them losing a head :D some ppl might need more than a safety t-shirt.
You mean safety baseball cap?
seems to be a good reason to buy a proper helmet with a gorget

if you are new here, he is addicted to risk his health ;D
I was feeling really uneasy every time he pointed it at the camera. I bet that thing could kill me even through the internet.
When Joerg said "Shadyversity" i laughed so hard I gave myself coronavirus. That being said i have zero chance of pronouncing Joerg.
Yerg
He also wrote Ted instead of Tod...
Shadman
I pronounce his name as youregg
Leaving the failed shots in the video is commendable! Truth over pride.
Hey Joerg, did you consider that you could put the front of the instant legolas against the ground, and “draw” the bow by pushing down with your body weight?
I wish I could sit in a room and have you teach me and just talk and talk and talk you are a genius!
in a room?
Wait a moment, Joerg is almost 55 years old :O
Ikr i was not expecting that i thought he was 25-30 at the absolute most
What a beautiful piece.
“ShadyVersity”
I love it.
such a nice longbow railbow... :-O wow. Nice conversion Jorg.
Look forward to the reception it gets.
"I'm not too weak, I don't think"
Dude, your forearms are as thick as my legs. You're massive aha
I've been waiting for this since Shad mentioned it. A Shad/Sprave collaboration is right up my alley!
Ah, the full size version with rubber expansion, that we all hoped to see!
When I saw that thing I knew it was sent from Shadiversity :)
Btw: I think climbing ladders a lot (like we did working on cell phone base stations) would probably be a good training for that pulling motion, as you are pulling you own body weight pluse a few dozens of kilograms about 500 meters in vertical spread over a day.
Of course your great invention makes this all unneccessary - but could you build a version that relies on an additional bow turned around for recreating the rubber's effect :)
The thing is, pulling a bow makes you pull your arms out horizontally, not vertically.
You're engineering skills awesome .
It is the LM-SIF!!!
"Let Me Show You It's Features!!!"
I laugh so hard to your videos you need a TV show. Your shows are the best man keep them coming.
Jeorge’s laugh is the sound you hear when passing through the gates of hell
You mean heaven my friend
No, it doesn't sound menacing or nefarious. It just sounds how I imagine a German or Austrian laughs. Similar to Arnold Schwarzenegger.
Ghassan Zayadeen I hope that how it works
@Martyr4JesusTheChrist you mean in the real heaven people don't laugh ?
What's he saying, let me show you it's features? Ha
I've been waiting for this for weeks!! I'm so pumped and good god Joerg you're a genius
(Grunts in German)
Awesome. I think that without the rubber bands you could push the front into the ground or a tree to give the extra few cm until you can grasp the handle.
The fact that he didn't say "one more time, just for you" at the end of the video proves that theres no fun to shoot this bow. Seem like its 500 magnum of the archery world)
To shoot a heavy bow, you have to use your back muscles. Squeeze you shoulder blades together, raise your drawing elbow and also push the bow away with your bow arm.
