Good info, Mike. I am confident in the Freeman team to evaluate the talent they want at ND. Tough to miss some of these big names but they are in the hunt.
Y’all need to chill out on the “rankings” as if the difference between a top 5 and 10 class means anything at all. Last 3 years, ND had the 13th, 10th, and 9th. Moore and Knapp were 3 star recruits. To me, this staff is a better evaluator of talent than the rankings, and an even better developer of said talent.
Literally don’t care about class rankings. Last year was 11th? These freshman are absolutely baling out. Show me another school having so much success with young guys like this. Freeman’s team is excellent at finding under rated talent and developing them quick. Plus, there’s a negative impact on grades for a kid that commits to the Irish. Sucks but it’s true
I think that is a solid point. Who wouldn't want Leonard Moore? Might have saved ND's season with Morrison's injury. Who wouldn't want Anthonie Knapp? Might have saved ND's season with Jagusah's injury. I think people just get too attached to the industry ratings. They provide some kind of guide, some indication ... but they are not a bottom line. Heck, look at last year's all-pro team in the NFL. So many low-rated guys coming out of HS who now dominate at the highest levels. I get that industry ratings and rankings make for good internet fodder, but for crying out loud ... how about trusting the coaches and their evaluations instead of trusting some pencil-neck geek at On3, who is largely basing his "evaluation" on which schools are pursuing which guys. It continues to baffle me.
Or, some kids kids might want to stay close to home and play at a historically good program. I don't see the need to dump on Faraimo if he chooses USC. It happens.
That outside LB, #13, had an absolutely awful game against ND. There might be room to start immediately. That said, ND plays freshman. And ND is losing Kiser. It isn't as though Faraimo would believe he'll ride the bench for a couple years at ND.
@@Paul-wy6sm No, he is a starting LB. First on the depth chart at his position. A SR. His name is Mason Cobb, and he transferred in from Oklahoma State in the spring of '23. He was USC's leading tacker last season.
Let's be honest.... Anything worse than a top 10 recruiting class is not good. If we really want to compete and be taken seriously we need 5 star recruits. We need explosive offensive players in the skilled positions. Although the season went well record-wise there's so way we're beating an SEC team in the playoffs. Or Oregon for that matter.
The two teams that played in the NC game last year had objectively worse recruiting based on ratings (and in Washington’s case considerably so) than ND has had. It’s about getting great players. Often that correlates to recruiting ratings, don’t get me wrong, but often it doesn’t. I’ll take Leonard Moore and Mitch Evans anytime. Also, there is a reason the NFL is littered with low-star players. There is plenty of talent outside the high-rated categories. If you trust your talent evaluation you take the guys you like, you want, and you think are the right fit. I’m sure Marcus Freeman doesn’t give a damn about what a pencil-neck at Rivals, On3, or 247 thinks.
@@Whatspoppin5 For ND? None, as far as I know. How many elite players? Remains to be seen. Sorry, I'm not a "stargazer," so I don't necessarily have all the "star" info at the top of my head.
Another sheep that eats up the media rhetoric of “the almighty SEC”…didn’t ND already beat an SEC team at their house this season? Your take is ridiculous
It’s not about the number of stars it’s about development and fitting into the system. They’ve done a good job finding guys who fit with a few elite athletes to go with it. They have a ton of depth but it’s young and will need to continue to develop. I’m ok with a class that’s anywhere inside the top 15 if they find guys who fill holes.
Also Remember that Haul Bob Diaco Had at the 11th hour flipped Ishaq Williams at his home while he and his parents they were pulling out the drive way headed to announcement conference, flipped Stephon Tuitt from Georgia Tech too.....That IRISH MAGIC IS REAL, I SAY MADDEN SIGNS WITH US AND WE GET A SURPRISE commitment
Honestly at a loss as far as faraimo. I get the appeal of staying close to home but does it really outweigh the uncertainty of Lincoln riley's future at USC and the poor results? Idk maybe it says more about ND than the kid but I'm not really sure what he's thinking there.
There is no getting into the mind of a HS kid. Who knows what drives decisions. It could be a well thought out life plan, or it might be as simple as a local girlfriend. I’m sure he’ll do well regardless.
True. He is still a kid after all and we don't know his personal life. But from a pure football perspective it kind of makes one wonder how serious he is about football as a career if he's choosing USC over ND, Texas, and others.
@@ericguerra7319 Well, we very well could have said the same about kids who chose ND instead Bama, Georgia, etc., over the years. ND sells the “40 year choice” pitch. So it certainly isn’t all about going to the most successful football program at the moment.
I get closer to home. But 10 straight wins. Definitely hosting a playoff game. Top 5-6 team going into the playoff. HC and both coordinators not going anywhere soon. They will play as freshmen if worthy. Aside from paying an unproven 18 year old a million plus which is just stupid, I don’t get given recent draft picks, why they seem to struggle to recruit specific positions like NG/DT, and WR. NOT just this year, for a while now it feels.
I have to believe he'll be fine. He was running on the sidelines and riding the bike hoping to get back in on Saturday. I can't imagine it was a "serious" injury. I've heard some speculation that it was a bruise to the shin. Hopefully nothing more than that. Regardless, glad to have Price as RB 1B.
You don't need a top 10 class to win you just need the players that you end up signing get developed and i don't understand what else that you need to see we might have a too 3 coaching staff in terms of development and coaching great staffs turn 3* into 4 and 5 * and that's wat we do Benjamin Morrison Leonard Moore Anthony Knapp all 3*s and true freshman studs rare but i belvedere in Coach Freeman and staff to develop
You need those classes to win titles, winning games is cool but to get blown out in big games against teams who recruit at an elite level consistently gets old. Btw Morrison and Knapp were both Composite 4* guys, your not winning a title with a bunch of NON blue chip recruits...You want to be closer to a version of Indiana this year or Georgia the past 5 years.
@@benjaminwherry Yet Michigan and Washington played for the NC last year with lower blue chip recruiting ratios than ND ... and lower than many schools. Michigan was higher than Washington, which honestly was nowhere to be seen on any rankings, but Michigan going into '23 (per ESPN analysis) was #15 in blue chip ratio. I don't when people will start to understand ... but the goal needs to be getting great players. Period. Often, and I admit this, it aligns with industry ratings and rankings (and I think there are complex reasons for it that go beyond the "industry analysts" being expert). But it often doesn't. I'll wait to see how good ND's recruits are before deciding anything. I'm more concerned when ND misses targets and "settles" for plan B than I am when ND prioritizes a recruit that doesn't have a high rating. I trust ND's talent evaluation. Any ND DB that ND goes after, I think, should be given some credibility based on recent track record, for example. Along those lines, I get the concern over WR. ND definitely seemed to be in "plan B mode" on that front. The same probably could be said for DL.
With the amount of 5* kids transferring these days. Take the kids who are willing to work and learn then the big name signing that you don’t think will last
What transpired this season will surely impact Next Year's Class and maybe It gets to Faraimo. Remember Manti Teo was a forgone conclusion to USC and BOOM HE CHOSE NOTRE DAME !!! Maybe we get that Luck of the Irish lol
All you arm chair national championship coaches need to calm down! So many young, ignorant fans that think stars are the end-all for players. Not surprised from a generation that holds “kicks”, “cellies”, uniforms, etc…above the game itself. NIL will ruin the sport right along with legalized gambling.
Ok, if our recruiting classes are gonna end up in the teens instead of top 5 then we need to win a natty now. Freeman’s best attributes were supposed to be centered around recruiting. I couldn’t be happier with how the season is going, but this 2025 class is unacceptable on many different levels.
Not happening for that very reason, key positions just not talented/skilled enough...teams competing for titles cant really afford to have classes in the teens unless they have strung at least 3 top 5-7 classes together
