    Being 'perfect' meant that some people couldn't touch me, people at work couldn't tell me off because I would know everything. It could be my safe zone. I couldn't find that 'perfection' since it didn't exist, and that made me feel very vulnerable. This is a work in progress. Many thanks for your three videos.

    What she said at 15 seconds is spot on. When things go good, we think we are doing good and stop doing the work that should be in progress regularly. Then when things go bad again, we panic and don't own what we did wrong.

    I had to learn and pay attention to my inner self talk I was really beating myself up and thinking I had to be perfect. One thing I learned of trying to be perfect there is no such thing, it's a forever ending cycle and it's very frustrating & stressful. That's what comes with thinking that way. Now I been healing my inner child I had to learn how to be good to myself. At first I had no clue of how to do it but the God in me showed me the way. Great video! 😉😊👍🏾

    I feel like I always wanted to be perfect because I felt like only then I would be good enough. Growing up things were pretty easy for me. My parents treated me well and we were of a stable economic background. I had all external factors well handled. However, I had dehabilitating anxiety and would struggle. I felt like my parents deserved the best and that I should be the best because things were so easy for me. I would berate myself so much and everything I did would not be good enough to me even though my parents were proud of me. As I get older I realize theoretically that everyone struggles in life regardless of outside factors and that perfection is a state that cannot be reached. I just have to do my best gently and lovingly to myself. I haven't entirely put it into practice but I try to remind myself of this principle whenever I start to feel frustrated or overwhelmed with myself. I haven't fully accepted that I can't be perfect as silly as it is but I'm retraining myself slowly into the reality of things.I robbed myself of so much joy growing up because of this perfectionist mentality.My thoughts would run wild and I would get so exhausted thati wouldn't even attempt things because I thought everything I did would be a failure.you know there are those perfectionists who have a lot of achievements but never feel good enough. I used to wish at least i was one of those - to have something to show or my suffering.anyway, here's to better days and putting in the work. I've been checking in with myself and slowly chipping away at these maladaptive thought processes.Things are slowly getting better and I'm pretty proud of that.

      Hi @chochee07,
      Thank you for sharing your story so openly-it takes strength and courage to express these experiences. The journey you describe resonates deeply with many who face the silent challenge of perfectionism. It’s enlightening to hear that you’re coming to realise the truth: perfection is an illusion, and true growth comes from embracing our imperfections with kindness.
      Growing up with a stable environment and loving parents, it’s natural to want to give back in the best way possible. Yet, the pressure to match that gratitude with perfection can become overwhelming. Your realisation that everyone has their own struggles, regardless of external stability, is a profound step toward self-acceptance. It’s heartening to hear that you’re beginning to practice patience and gentleness with yourself-these are essential to nurturing your Shen spirit and reclaiming the joy that perfectionism can steal.
      Remember, the progress you’re making, even if gradual, is significant. Each step forward is a testament to your resilience and willingness to shift old beliefs. It’s okay if full acceptance doesn’t happen overnight; what matters is that you’re committed to the process and treating yourself with compassion along the way.

      @WuWeiWisdom  10 месяцев назад

      Hi @scbuddoldschool5313,
      We'd be happy to guide you through working with your inner child step by step. Here's a brief outline to get you started:
      Awareness: Acknowledge that your inner child exists and plays a role in your adult life. Recognize the feelings and behaviors that may be connected to your inner child.
      Connection: Begin to establish a connection with your inner child through meditation or visualization. Picture your inner child and try to understand their emotions, the beliefs and experiences they use to create them.
      Communication: Start a dialogue with your inner child. Ask them what they need and listen to their responses. This can be done through journaling or meditative conversations.
      Validation: Validate the feelings and experiences of your inner child. Let them know that it's okay to feel scared, hurt, or angry. But they are creating those emotional experiences.
      Reassurance: Offer reassurance to your inner child. Let them know they are safe now and that you, as the adult self, are there to protect and care for them.
      Healing Activities: Engage in activities that nurture your inner child, like playing, drawing, or spending time in nature.
      Professional Guidance: If you find the process overwhelming, consider seeking support from a professional who specializes in inner child work.
      Remember, this is a gradual process, and it's essential to approach it with patience and compassion. If you're looking for more detailed guidance and community support, feel free to join our FREE Wu Wei Wisdom community at facebook.com/groups/wuweiwisdomcommunity/, where like-minded individuals share their journeys and insights.

    Perfection to me, is being the best version of yourself. I try and do things to the best of my ability. I cant feel good about myself if I didn't put in 100% then I won't do it. Maybe its not the proper definition of perfect but to me that's what I think about perfection.

  • @Sana_Mushtaq___1
    @Sana_Mushtaq___1 2 года назад +1

    Perfection might be is this that for example if someone has crooked and stained teeth and he feels bad for having it so he must go and fix it up rather than having this concept of accept yourself as you are, because it doesn't look good and beautiful, if they can do it they should go for it, they shouldn't sit having this concept because they feel bad and fearful, have perfectionism pressure on them, what do you want to say in that case?

      Hi @arjaloggers4509,
      Thank you for sharing your experience. It sounds like you're deeply engaged in the process of understanding and reparenting your inner child, which is wonderful. When feelings like jealousy and resentment surface, it's a sign that your inner child is seeking attention and care. Start by acknowledging these emotions without judgment. Reassure your inner child that it's okay to feel this way, and remind her that you are there to protect and support her. This practice takes time, so be patient with yourself. If you find it helpful, our FREE Wu Wei Wisdom community is a great place to discuss these experiences with like-minded people who might have similar advice: facebook.com/groups/wuweiwisdomcommunity/.

      It will probably feel uncomfortable at first as you are coming into contact with a part of yourself that has been repressed for a long time. Expect to feel somewhat vulnerable as lot of emotions can be released - but remember being sad and upset is part of the healing process.
      I recommend the book 'Home Coming' by John Bradshaw. He explains the full process, what to expect, tools for doing the work etc.

    I am 56 and male and married and have been struggling with uncontrollable anger for the past few months. It is like another person just comes out of me, someone I do not even know. I start shaking, my anger is in dis appropriate of the situation. I had abuse as a child, physical and psychological. I have been obsessed with diapers and babyish things all my life. I am a Adult Baby/ Diaper Lover, have been thru my entire life. My life is pretty good, I have been successful, married, nice house, great career. But now, here I am dealing with this problem and I am afraid of damaging my relationships or even divorce. My question is, how do you talk to your inner child when your inner child is more than likely less than two years old?

      Hi David,

      Thank you for sharing your story with us.

      As you will appreciate it would be inappropriate for me to comment on personal issues without full knowledge, history and background. Therefore I can only comment in general terms.

      In my professional experience (which is now over 40 years) the part of your mind we are labelling the Inner Child is never as young as you are suggesting. You may need a little professional help to unpick and address these childhood abuse issues which are having an effect on your life now.

      Why don't you find a local professional practitioner who you could work with, or book a couple of 1-2-1 video sessions with me if our work and Wu Wei Wisdom therapy model appeals to you.

    ONE THING YOU DO MOT COVER. WHAT IF YOU LIVE ALONE, WITH NO FRIENDS, NOR FAMILY? I HAVE NEITHER, BECAUSE "NO CONTACT" WITH MY DISFUNCTIONAL FAMILY IS CRITICAL; AND THE FRIENDS I OBTAINED WERE NOT HEALTHY. THE SLATE IS JUST ME, MYSELF, AND I. THE LONELINESS SCREAMS, " I NEED SOMETHING MORE THAN JUST BEING ALONE WITH MY INNER CHILD. I BELIEVE IT'S BEST THAT I AM FINALLY ALONE WITH MYSELF, BECAUSE I MADE SACRIFICES, SO I CAN HEAL; BUT SLOWLY ADD RELATIONSHIPS TO THE FOUNDATION WORK OF SELF LOVE. COVID HAS INTENSIFIED THE LONELINESS.....

    Great content but the delivery is so off putting. David's exasberated whiny nagging seems to defeat the purpose of his intent.

      Yes. It's so helpful. But David reminds unintentionally of the exasperated low patience parent who is yelling "why can't you get it!". I can understand as a therapist he's heard the same thing across years from his patients. But he's unable to detach his experience and fatigue and realise that he's taking to someone who is hearing it for the first time. It's literally like a child being told for the first time. It's totally off putting
