I agree. Escape pods seem highly implausible. A five LT year trip is 30 trillion miles! It will take centuries. I too would have like to see them adapt to a new planet, working cooperatively. This movie just seems to be just another horror film, not really about the details of space travel and colonization.

If you have been warned that there is a menacing alien on the other side of the door, ignore it, and try it to reason, behave, and obey the rules of the ship.
