Here's a paraphrased summary of your general backstory outline, with a little filler. Mama Know and Daddy Toast fell for each other as teens but had a falling out when they realized they came from rival mafia families. Mama Know went on to fall for someone who turned out to be a merman. They could not stay together because had to return to the sea; he's a Prince and the next King of the Merfolk. Mama Know couldn't adapt and go with him because she had to step in and train so that one day take over as head of the Know family since her older brother was kicked out of for continuing to sampling the product. Mama Know surprised when she found out she was having a half-merbaby. Baby Felix was able to survive away from the sea without any problems. Growing up he understood why his dad had to leave but sometimes he gets sad about it. He's only met his father once.
Mama also has to raise her motherless nephew Han since his daddy Chan was in and out of rehab after he wife (Han's mother) passed away. Felix's uncle Chan is a nice man with a lot of demons he will have to fight before he can try to be a part of the Know family again. Cousin Han doesn't get to see his father very often, but tries to make the best of things; he grew up a happy kid and loves his aunt and cousin very much.
Daddy Toast was the younger son but was groomed to become the head of the family because his older brother Seungmin prefers to work as the family's problem solver (hitman ☠ 🤫). The Toast brothers are close and to them family always comes first. Daddy Toast never got over loving Mama Know but he did marry to fulfill his family duty and continue the next generation. They had one son together but unfortunately his wife left the family when she realized her husband would never love her.
Hyunjin has a lot of anger about his mom abandoning him and is often wild and reckless. His cousin Changbin feels sorry for him and is always there for support; even if it means covering for Hyunjin's escapades.
One night Hyunjin stole a car for a joyride but had to ditch it quickly; as he was walking home in the rain he bumps into a beautiful boy named Felix. Felix was out walking in the rain because that's what half-mermen like to do.
(Okay, that's the backstory to that wonderful mini-drama y'all came up with. 😁✌💛)

I love the backstory connections with merman dad, and the mystery surrounding Hyunjin's mom and his resentment towards the family because of it!!! *cue the angst*
Also brb absolutely dying over "the Toast Brothers" 😂😂😂😂 I feel like Seungmin is a more supportive/kind brother in this one so may have to tweak the hitman part but he could even just have not been tough enough/ruthless enough to be the head of the family and his dad picked Toast to be the bread winner (pun intended) 🤔
You got any more details on Changbin and Seungmin's family dynamic/relationship!? Hehe this is way too fun
@@lifeofmorganp , oh, that means we really do alike because my first thought was that Daddy Toast took over because Seungmin was like genius level smart and wanted to be a scientist or or professor, but I didn't know if that sounded too boring or took him away from the family. I thought maybe he was the one great with money but was not sure if that would make him sound weak to people so I ended going in the complete opposite direction just trying to make him still close to Daddy T. 👍 How about Seungmin is the brains behind the things that make them money but Daddy Toast is in charge because he has the Mob Boss ruthlessness that's needed to be the head of the family and his only weakness was never getting over Mama Know?
I bet Daddy Toast wanted to have his ex wife eliminated for leaving but didn't because she's still the mother of his only son. 😉

I didn't understand the family tree conversation but when it popped up on the screen I couldn't help but laugh my ass off. Such effort for our entertainment 🤌🏻✨. I think your close on the mermaid concept. Ppl have been saying that the water represents the thirst and the desire to be whole again but not in a lustful way. That the lore before this pointed to the idea that they are all actually mermaids trying to get back to water to bring everyone together again in one universe.
Our brains tend to finish each other's sentences sometimes so I had to provide a visual aid for those who can't read minds 🤣🤣
