Got the GLE, 200b and the MMP (non mastering now) they’ll all sot on dedicated buses. Set and forget.

I’d love to hear your personal opinion about “Pultec low end trick” on the master buss. I’ve once used Audioscape EQPs for that trick in mastering and worked great. Also, I noticed you don’t have this summit unit on your master chain B. May I ask why you chose not to put it in your chain?
@@AudioAnimalsStudioyet you hinted in your conclusion it was ace and might be a keeper? Maybe not due that in future unless you do actually keep it? Clearly it was known not to be stepped at time of review and your favour or not of the ‘Pultec’ trick’ would be known to you then too. Appreciate you’re being transparent. But the real opinion should be in the vid. Not in the comments. Just my humble opinion.
@infojunkie4989 it was a keeper and was kept until recall became too much of a pain. Some things only become apparent over time. In this case after 6 months these were my findings.
I watched another video that shot this out against other pultecs and I like what it does to the midrange. But I don’t like the price point for not having stepped controls
Gonna use mine on synth sub group for mixing. Find a sweet spot and just leave it there for the phat synths. But yes, non- stepped is a pig for recall. Same with the MMP! New it is pricey for non stepped. Then again Manley ask 1000+ for just having stepped twiddley bits.
@@infojunkie4989 I’ve heard some people say that matching stereo sides without stepped pots isn’t a big deal but on the mix bus I would go nuts wondering if it’s close enough or not. On the other hand, it might make the mix slightly wider idk
You switch the EQ in and out of the circuit way too fast. So many gear demo'ers do that and it drives me crazy. Between the time it takes for the circuitry to effect the signal, our ears to hear it and our brain to process it and contemplate the differences, you've already switched it back in. Give it at _least_ 5 seconds when you bypass the EQ and turn it back on.
i would like to hear it in a mastering context

Because it isn't stepped and would be a huge pain to recall. I'm not personally a fan of the pultec trick.

So which would you get this, an used 200A for 1/2 the price or an Empress?
Well answered my own Q. Got a 200b on the way!
Another treat 😋😋😋😋
Was a treat for me too. Getting to use it.
Gainlab Audio Empress 👌🏾

Yes if it was stepped I would have picked this up. But it isn't so it would be a nightmare to recall.
