If a few brief minutes of Ulhas aren't enough…watch his full 55-minute performance of Raag Darbari in pristine HD on the Darbar Player, along with dozens of other captivating concerts: www.darbarplayer.com/videos/dp008-ulhas-kashalkar We'd like to upload everything for free - but filming, editing, and hosting cost money, and we’re a small not-for-profit organisation. Signing up to the Darbar Player costs about the same as a couple of coffees a month ($5), which we hope is an excellent price for such a wealth of unique music.
Pt. Kashalkar is said to have learnt this from Ustad Vilayat Khan (who liked his artistry very much). It is also fairly evident that Ustad Vilayat Khan had the legendary 'jamuna ke teer' of Abdul Karim Khan in mind while composing it. :)

I’m pretty new to really spending time to listening deeply to classical Indian music, but I feel like I hear a strong islamic influence in this particular style in this video
You are right. He is singing khayal, which literally translates to 'imagination'. During the Islamic invasions in India that started from the 12th and 13th centuries roughly, the dhrupad form in India came under the influence of Persian music called 'khayal.' In the video, Pandit Ulhas Kashalkar is singing khayal. The style flourished especially during the Mughal rule in India, particularly under the patronage of the third Mughal Emperor Akbar.

Whose composition is this, any clue? Is it a traditional one? Appears to me to be a clone (Upaj/Jodua?) of the famous "Jamuna ke teer". Also the rendition surprisingly resembled the typical Kirana school thing.

WONDERFUL WORLD CLASS.
This is one of the hardest raga to sing ...
Not for Panditji. haha. 🙏
@@darbarfestival obviously ❤️
Do you mean the Bandish ? Because raag bhairvi is taught to beginners also
Whose composition is this, any clue? Is it a traditional one? Appears to me to be a clone (Upaj/Jodua?) of the famous "Jamuna ke teer". Also the rendition surprisingly resembled the typical Kirana school thing.
This is a composition of the legendary sitar maestro, Ustad Vilayat Khan. He composed under the colophon 'Naath-piya'
Very untypical of Vilayat Khan Sahib also.
kya baat hai...
Doesnt sound like bhairavi. Which raga is it ?
G
Beautiful performance but a pakhwaj was needed
