    Tenerife is such a beautiful place! I don't understand how some tourists can go there and not go beyond the main areas

      I'm glad you like Tenerife! I know - it's crazy! The amount of people who just like to stay in their resorts is unbelievable especially when there's so many amazing places on their doorstep. Oh, well! It was fun not to have to dodge millions of tourists 😉

      I am in Tenerife about every 90 days, and I never really go to the south. It is a nice area, but the north is way better.

    Ella, , thank you very much for your video. Congratulations, you have done a very great job.
    I am from Tenerife and I thank you for having reflected in your video the true Tenerife. The one that many of your compatriots do not know or do not want to know. They prefer to lie in a hammock, sunbathing and drinking beer from morning to night throughout the week they stay here. Those tourists who get up early at 8:00 am to run to the pool to choose a hammock, and then leave at 17:00 pm to go to dinner.
    This tourism is of little interest to the Canaries.
    We like to receive people like you, who come to know our gastronomy, our wines, our landscapes, our cities, our customs and who show interest in knowing how we are.
    Thank you and I hope you come back to discover more sites that you have not seen yet.

      Thank you for taking the time to leave such a thoughtful comment. This is EXACTLY why I wanted to make this video series. I feel like Tenerife gets an unfair reputation due to these 'tourists' who don't ever leave their large resorts. It is very interesting to hear this from someone who lives on the island!
      I must say, Tenerife is such a beautiful island with so much to explore. I hope you will enjoy the rest of this series. I am working on a few more videos. In the next one I will be going to beautiful Taganana to admire the natural scenery and eat some fresh fish at Restaurante El Frontón. The fish was incredible but I am also really loving the papas arrugadas!
      I am very keen to return as I still didn't see everything I wanted to! I would love to visit a winery (the Tenerife wine is sooo good!) and see Masca valley.
      Thanks again for your wonderful comment. I am excited to keep showing everyone the REAL Tenerife!

    I'm glad that you decided to meander away from the popular Brit spot in the southern area and explore the other part of the island :)
    Victor the Volvo is quite big for European, I guess - your villa looks cozy and wonderful welcoming package. Goat main course looks more intriguing, but I guess you have to stick with the fish and chips too 😓
    Awesome complimentary Baileys shot, and cute kitty at the end.

    What a great house for your stay…looks so peaceful. The local restaurant food (and vino tinto) looks delicious! Whoa…the market looks amazing! Love a good market (and the food stalls that are usually there). Great video Ella…nice to see you posting again!

      The food stalls at the market were fab. We were spoilt for choice! There was well over 10 stalls purely selling veg and the same with meat. You could also get some cooked food there too to eat as you wandered around :)

    You already know we love seeing the unexplored sides of places... 😉 How long of a flight is it for you? Fun that you name every rental car! April used to love looking at 3D maps like that as a kid! Nice Airbnb. Do you mind if we ask how much it cost? I would like that dip for the bread; I do enjoy most things spicy. Looks like a cool market. Which "three chocolates" dessert was best? The bakery looks like a place April would want to go for breakfast!

    • @EllaMcKendrick
      @EllaMcKendrick  4 года назад +1

      Yes seeing unexplored sides of places is the best. Feels like leading the way into the unknown. The flight is 4 hours so not too bad. The Airbnb was £76 per night ($93 USD). It's certainly not budget accommodation but we wanted somewhere with an outdoor area so we could relax. Sometimes chilled getaways are necessary for us, haha! Ahah you like spicy food? Maybe I have competition then as nothing is ever too spicy for me 😉 The first tres chocolates was the better one. It had more substance whereas the second felt like it was made more of whipping cream. Both were nice though! It was interesting to notice the difference.

    • @GoTravelOnTheCheap
      @GoTravelOnTheCheap 4 года назад

      Not a bad flight at all, unless you have someone coughing on you from behind! Not a bad price for all you got with that Airbnb though...sometimes April books us a nicer place than I would get, so we can get that relax vibe going. When did you last visit? LOL, I can eat a whole lot of spicy...April says she has more of "wussy" taste-buds/stomach, haha. But I have to be more careful now that I'm in my 40s... 😎

    • @EllaMcKendrick
      @EllaMcKendrick  4 года назад

      Oh boy, oh boy, that reminds me - the flight back was HORRENDOUS because we had poor company and silly cabin crew. Lewis got into a terrible situation by accident because when he opened the overhead lockers a pile of inflight magazines tumbled out and hit an old woman on the head! That was so horrible and he was trying his best to help the woman after that but was only made worse when a woman from behind us started screaming at him saying it was totally his fault and he was selfish and did it on purpose. Horrible woman! The cabin crew did absolutely NOTHING. It was shocking.
      We went at the end of January 2020, just a few weeks before lockdown began actually so we were incredibly lucky to get a trip in before all this craziness.

    We absolutely loved Tenerife, and mainly explored the western side of the island (Los Gigantes, Garachico, Teide, etc), though we did get to see Aerosmith's last European concert in Santa Cruz! Thanks for sharing the experience of the Northern half, so many videos are concentrated in the southeast. Beautiful camera work and editorial! 👍 -Howard

    Ooo, so nice to watch your videos again! Like the new style! Amazing to see that Tenerife can be non-touristy and beautiful. We haven't been there but if we go in the future we will definitely choose this part of the island. Your house with the garden looks lovely. Is it expensive to rent a car in Tenerife? I (Marion) am a chocolate lover so the 3 chocolate thingy is something I would eat for breakfast, lunch and dinner. The market in Santa Cruz looks so nice!

    • @EllaMcKendrick
      @EllaMcKendrick  4 года назад

      Glad you like the style change! I like experimenting with different things. Car rentals are not expensive. For the cheaper cars it is around £25 per day. I went for a more luxury car which was a little more but I found the experience and comfort worth it, haha.
