I think we have too much of the humble brag, and not enough legitimate humbleness. We have too many people all in it for themselves, and not enough people willing to do the right thing because it is the right thing. To live a life to serve others, because it is the most fulfilling life you can lead. I love what you are doing here so far, and I am a new subscriber as of right now!

I think we should also stop shaming people from bragging and should celebrate people that achieve or get to a place they're happy in life. And if they wanna show off, show off. Especially when you worked to earn it. I get the humble brag is cringey. But I think we also shame people and get jealous when we see people doing better than us when we should feel inspired. I seriously can't wait to show off or just share with the world for moving forward. But I also need to keep my head down and focus on work before I think about the outcome.

A lot of it is all about ego also, everyone wants to be seen to have the perfect life with the perfect husband/wife/boyfriend/girlfriend etc, with perfect children, and nice new house car etc. It’s actually quite sad that there is no end of people who do this. The really successful people simply don’t waste any time trying to impress everyone.

If you are constantly wanting to convince people that you are humble and really surrounding yourself by fools gold to portray a posh great life, then obviously you don't have it genuinely from within. No one will always have the newest top rated thing due to technology and the constant evolution for innovation. Egomania is off the charts. Humans have forgotten how to be human and most importantly moral that truly comes from compassion and empathy. It's a false persona aka mask. So I agree, humble brags are cringey and repulsive due to the fact if you are truly living in the present moment of that experience there would be no need to set up a format. The overwhelming experience would be enough. 🙋🏻‍♀️

Awesome to hear some down to earth Northerners talking about this. Humblebrags do my head in - to coin a Yorkshire phrase. Every single post on LinkedIn seems to be a self serving piece of content "thrilled to have done a webinar with so n so and blah blah". That is not content marketing. If you're a great content marketer, your reader won't even know that they're being sold to.

I'm the absolute of opposites. I'm not interested in impressing people. I compete only with myself. For example I recently bought an exotic car and told no one not even my family. There's many reasons why I'm like that but one of the many reasons is this far too much poverty in this country for me to want to shove my wealth in the face of others. I know some people think where you work hard for it you should enjoy it but that's what's it I do enjoy it. I enjoy every minute of it. The problem is my enjoyment doesn't come from impressing others it comes from me enjoying the things that I bought for me to enjoy not 2 impress others.

Here are the facts, whether you like it or not. People like to mainly hang around those that are successful. And to humble brag is to let people who dont know anything about you, know that you are successful.
I teach people trading and investing under my main channel and have had massive success. I HATE talking about my own successes because I'd rather talk on my students.
In the beginning it was hard getting more people. And since I'm in crypto trading I had to literally talk about my outlier trades regularly to even get attention
A video talking about market cycles and money management, no hits. A video where I took $80 to $2500 in two days? I got 7 new students from, and 5 stayed with me and 4 are already note successful and one is still struggling
The point is that people wanna see successful. That's our biology.
The one thing I won't do is talk about my exact money and won't buy cars, watches or other dumb things that are a waste of money
I've been told by many to do that and then that would get me attention

The dunning Kruger effect! They believe what they pedal

  • @EddRazzell
    @EddRazzell 5 лет назад +12

The reason this happens is because of your subjective view of reality isn't shared by your clients or their target audience.
Have you ever considered that they aren't trying to "paint a front where they genuinely believe the shit that they're peddling" ... because if you're working closely with them and they *still* aren't telling you that, it's because they legitimately just think they are doing something good / congruent. They themselves probably don't judge others who show flashy cars / watches / houses / you name it, and as a result don't feel any guilt about doing so themselves. It's just different value systems.
Now, if either of you were to "accidentally" slip a fancy car into a video, you'd both (most likely) judge yourselves for it. You'd think "wow, I've become a total wanker" for doing this. And there's nothing wrong with that - you just have different values from your clients.
Probably isn't great that Dan said he'd sell out his values for quick money though - in that you said you'd help someone do it if it increases ROI / hits KPIs / if you see it works for others. Probably leads to self judgement in making content you disagree with, and probably impacts your enjoyment of your work, especially if you think your clients are dickheads. Life is much more fun (and I think you make more money) when you work with people you like

@@loslosbaby 18 plate. A UK term which refers to the car being released in the 18th year (2018). We have two new vehicle releases each year in the UK, one in March and one in September. Plates with 15/16/17/18/19 refer to the vehicles released in March of 2015/2016/2017/2018/2019 etc and 65/66/67/68/69 refer to vehicles released in September of those years. So an 18 plate Maserati was a car new in 2018 (March if we're being factual).
A typical UK vehicle license plate would read
      XY19 ABC
X denotes where the vehicle was registered, Y denotes which office the vehicle was registered at and 19 is the year (March of 2019) and the final three letters are totally random.
A comprehensive breakdown list of UK plates can be found online if you wanted to know registration cities and offices.....

    (a) Maserati have reliability issues. A fancy car is worthless if it just sits in your driveway or the repair shop. See Here: www.osv.ltd.uk/maserati-reliability/ "Unfortunately, while Maserati is becoming increasingly popular among buyers, the reliability has not improved. Since 2016, Maserati has repeatedly earned a low reliability rating in the ReliabilityIndex rankings, coming 40th out of 40 brands."
And (b) who sends a CHILD out to wash a $75,000 to over $150,000 car? The kid is likely to scratch the heck out of the finish.

All the dudes want to be him, and all the girls want to be with him... He's my cousin, so I love him and all - but I'm pretty sure he could never really truly know the meaning of humbleness.
