    So let me give some context here. I have a 1995 6.5 2500, it has 314,000 miles and is completely stock other than I moved the fuel injection mod. to the air filter box. The manifolds have rusted to the point where the turbo does not work. Along with that it has no exhaust pipe at all and was involved in a rear end accident back in October which busted the whole front end (I was the rear-ender). This past winter with wind chill it was -33 here in Ohio. In an effort to prove a point I said that truck, without being plugged in, full cold start, should fire right up. My word as a good man I went out there, cycled the glow plugs 3 times, and that fucker fired right up, no hesitation 😂😂

    That was some pretty cool smoke rings. In the trucking industry when a diesel jelled, truckers bought rubbing alcohol. Pour it straight into the tank. You can add a bottle to keep it from jelling.

      @Firefuzz11 3 года назад

      Most people would mix kerosene in their fuel to help slow the gelling process and let the fuel get colder before starting to gel. Also pouring straight kerosene in the fuel filter is a great way to quickly unclog a gelled filter.

    the 6.2 and 6.5s are very good engines for what they are made for I live in cold climate as well and had the same issue with my 6.2 gelling up all the time not sure if overtreating causes it or not of course I was always getting stuck on the side of the interstate where the speed limit is 75 and you know with a 75 mph speed limit everyone is going 80 or faster I used the 911 the orange bottle I used to dump and go and it would run like a scalded dog after I did but after a couple months of that my injection pump started to fail and I decided I didnt want a diesel anymore that is the only reason I gas swapped my truck a dollar less a gallon here for gas than diesel no need for treatments of course my k30 is my daily driver I must say I dont miss how the gmt400 trucks doors freeze up my 92 made me late for work more times than I could count because of that problem the squarebody trucks have rain gutters on the doors and they dont meet with the windshield like the gmt 400s but I did love my 92 just hated it in the winter the smoke rings were cool btw

    6.5’s are definitely good trucks if you don’t drive them like they’re hot rods, always loved these trucks and wanted to build one but the money spent on a 6.5 you can make double or triple the power with a 12V but hey I sure wouldn’t complain if a 6.5 showed up on my doorstep
