Hearth is a terrible influence 😂 I have spent a fortune on books since I found her videos! I also discovered Troy Books so had to buy beautiful hardback versions 🤦♀️
I am so frustrated! Its nice to get ideas from you on NON-WICCAN books! Nothing against Wicca, I used to be one. But now my practice has changed. I am forever trying to find books on my path of Celtic Folk magick. Everything is so wiccan.
Hi Sabrina. I use a technique to locate books by using the bibliography of books I have to search for more books on a topic. I have a book by D.J. Conway called Celtic Magic. It’s part of the Llewellyns World Magic Series. The bibliography shares more books on the topic. Even if you can’t locate this book it could get some hints for others. If I had any social media I’d offer to send you a picture but RUclips is it for me. Good luck on your search.
For anyone interested, Tuatha de Danann is pronounced like "TOOuh day Danun" in standard Irish. Also, book reviews from completed > in progress is a fine format, I will likely be adding the books to my list either way, lol.
Hi hope you are well this the first time I’ve actually been able to catch one of ur videos in real time so sorry if this isn’t the best time to send this I just wanted to let you no ur great and help me and probably 100 of thousands of others SO THANK YOU VERY MUCH FOR SHARING YOUR KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERIENCES
I’m currently reading Baba Yaga’s Book of Witchcraft- I have family roots in Russia and Lithuanian so I’m interested in learning about practices and beliefs from there.
Omggggg this is why I love youu💙 Spent the entire beginning of this week trying to research the fae and books about them. I haven't even watched this yet and I am excited. Thank you for everything, you have guided me so much in my witchling stage. I don't know where I'd even have started without your channel.
I love these book breakdowns/reviews! You have such a wide and incredible amount of knowledge about witchcraft already, so for me your recommendations are always so helpful, because you know what you're talking about and you know which ones actually contain good and useful information, as well as which ones are suitable for beginners and which ones aren't. That makes these kinds of videos so so so helpful and valuable. 🖤 As for the order in which you go through the books: I don't think you need to split them in categories like "finished" and "part way through" or something like that. I quite like the way you have them mixed up. Some people might like it when they are sorted by theme (e.g. first all the books on fae, then all the books on herbs, then history etc.), but I think it's refreshing to have them in no particular order, it keeps it even more interesting and exciting, in my opinion, to bounce around different topics. My to-be-read and to-buy lists are ever growing due to your amazing recommendations, I don't even know when and how on earth I'm gonna finish all these books, I need more than 24 hours in a day! 😭😂 Thank you for giving us these tips and your honest opinions on the books, it really helps! 🙏🤗
I'm watching through all your book videos..could you do a video of your most favourite Witchcraft books of all time? Be interesting to see if books you said about over a year ago make the cut.
Recent Glastonbury book haul included: The Book of Lilith - Barbara Black Koltuv A Deed without a Name - Lee Morgan The Temple of Hecate - Tara Sanchez Walking with Trees - Glennie Kindred Folk Magic and Healing - Fez Inkwright The Hedgerow Apothecary Forager's Handbook Under the Witching Tree - Corinne Boyer Now I just have to read them! PS (from the bloopers bit) I think chronological is best because what you have read before a book can affect the way you feel about the current one. Just my thoughts, but do whatever pleases you. I'll still watch :)
I actually have a notebook, just for book reviews, be that from you or one of the other witchy RUclipsrs that I follow, I have learned so much from watching your's and other's book reviews, Cause when I first started my practice many moons ago it was something that was to be kept to ourself and a lot of bookstores would look at you funny for trying to order certain books. I am so happy to see you and others sharing with others and letting people feel that they can be open about their practice and not have to hide their practice or who they are.
The Blackfeather Mystery School: The Magpie Training by Irene Glassman and Cain Dreamwalker is what I’m currently reading and working through. This is a beautiful and thoughtful curriculum for people starting out!
Thank you for thus 🫂❤️ I'll definitely check this series out, unfortunately I lost access to alot of what my nan taught me and what I read in my brain so to speak as its there but I can't remember as I suffered a stroke at age 29 (I'm now 44) I'm going to have to relearn everything but I can't relearn from my nan as she oassed away 5 weeks before my stroke 😢 I miss her dreadfully and my family don't believe in what she did and she learnt in the word of mouth way. It's very hard to read a book now, I find I'm very slow and get confused quite a lot, but I know I must do this as I feel im being called back to the craft as I was searching RUclips for sewing machine reviews and this channel was the first item in the results. The video was about finding your deities, what does that have to do with sewing machines ? 🤔 I hope my nan had something to do with this, so here I go again. Thank 😊 you once again for the recommendation I'm so sorry for this being a bit long of a response. 😊🫂❤️
Thanks for mentioning six ways. It's a book I started several years ago but for some reason I only got a third the way through. I think after several years it makes a much better read and nicely summarises a lot of things. I've almost got back to chapter ten (where I got to last time) so lm looking forward to reading the rest of it 😊
The first handful of chapters are actually quite good for the basics. There's THREE progressive chapters on meditation and energy work, the six ways which is basically a centering ritual not unlike lbrp or calling quarters, reclaiming which is about, well, reclaiming your sense of self and power without being something I'd worry about like... inviting things in or whatever. Basic variations on offerings. Things like that. If he'd just put a clear "here follow these initial chapters as groundwork" explanation, I think it would have helped. And then on the flip side, it's all modular enough to add depth or otherwise slot in alongside existing practice structures. It's also SUPER useful (in one specific sense) for explaining how "visualization" doesn't have to be literally visual. SO MANY books I've basically tossed out, for wanting you to basically hallucinate on command... lol
I’m currently reading Braiding Sweetgrass by Robin Wall Kimmerer and loving it (listening to it and it’s read by the author 😊) I think I prefer grouped by theme but honestly however you prefer to talk about them is probably how I prefer to listen to them! Great video!
Huge Aiden Wachter fan here - his next book after Six Ways is much more beginner friendly and can be used as a workbook - Changeling: A Book of Qualities. I agree Mat Auryns Psychic Witch is a good handbook to use alongside any other book you may be utilising 🖤💜🤍
I have had Plant Witchery by Juliet Diaz for a long time and I am a big fan of that one. I don't necessarily use the spells or rituals in it but I love the insights it has on the plants, many of which are pretty common where I live! The Witch's Cabinet is definitely going on my list thoughhh
mostly interested in myths of fae, i never really believed in the kind of small fairies with the butterfly wings. I want to know other myths and descriptions of them. Other stories and things they do.
Thanks for the reviews! I actually beat you to the Air Magic book and the rest of the series. I enjoyed them. I’m currently reading Astral Dynamics by Robert Bruce, The Inner Temple of Witchcraft by Penczak, Nocturnal Witchcraft by Konstantinos and The Untamed Witch by Lidia Pradas.
A new book just came out February 11th about familiars titled Familiars unto me: Witches Sorcerers and their Spirit Companions by BJ Swain. Would love to know your thoughts 😊
My current reading list is, The encyclopedia of ancient and forbidden knowledge by Zolar, Magical Power by Lipp, Practical Candleburning Rituals by Buckland, The Druid Renaissance by Carr-Gomm, The Bardic Book of Becoming by McBeth, The Spiral Dance by Starhawk, The White Goddess by Graves, The Intuitive Tarot by Gordon & Taylor and Wicca Craft by Dunwich. Most of these books I have had for a long time, a couple I have had a really long. Your content is amazing. I looked at your site, and it appears you do not ship to Canada. That is unfortunate.
I recently read the Air book and I wasn't blown away by it. It was okay. I'm not sure if I will get the other books in the series. I am thinking of getting The Witch's Familiar though. I had been thinking about it for a while. Sounds like there will be some interesting bits.
When you mentioned the part in The Witch’s Familiar about color correspondences, I immediately thought of the Hogwarts houses. RED (Fire) is Gryffindor, BLUE (Air) is Ravenclaw, YELLOW (Earth) is Hufflepuff, and GREEN (Water) is Slytherin.
I love the quarterly breakdown of book reviews, and that you include finished and un-finished readings. Also, love your reviews on Faery books. I'm researching about it, so knowing which books work will be great. I can't wait for your video on those books!
Hey Hearth! I remember you once shared a book eith an orange and purple cover with yellow cat's eyes. I believe it was on charms or scrying or gazing magic , and I haven't been able to remember the title or find it in your videos. Is there any chance you remember? Thank you so much!!❤
I choked on my 7up when you said isabel gowdie as that's my last name of my father's line, there's been a hushed talk of an isabel gowdie and witchcraft down the generations and my grandfather said I don't want to be buried with those 3 witches (family plot) which as a kid really intrigued me, my father's side all came from Scotland. My nan taught me many things that as I got older and asked her one day do you do witchcraft like the other witches in the family and her response was I don't do isabel or the other 3 witches form of craft. She never expanded on that, but she definitely was a wise woman and I'd say did hedge witchcraft but with her spin on it. I definitely have to find that book and buy it plus ive got to find out if this lady or her family are connected to mine as gowdie is a really rare last name. I stumbled onto this video by accident I'm now subscribed as its lovely to have a fellow English uk channel and person to follow and learn from. 🫂❤️😊
I love your book reviews. I'm still reading one now by Astrea Taylor How to use Intuition To Elevate Your Craft Intuitive Witchcraft and have started reading that is a good basic divination book for me as a beginner in this aspect. The Fortune Telling Directory Divination Techniques to Unlock Your Fortune by Isabella Drayson Keep being amazing! Blessed Be!
@Julie Van Arends so far, it's been pretty good. I'm on chapter 4. The other book seems to go well with it due to intuition plays a big part in different divination techniques.
HI HEARTH, I HOPE YOU COULD GIVE US SOME KNOWLEDGE ABOUT HOW TO DO BLOOD MAGICK BLOOD SPELL, DANGERS OF IT, DO YOU RECOMMEND IT, HAVE YOU DONE IT, HOW TO DO IT CORRECTLY, IS IT MORE POWERFUL IN A SPELL. IS THIS MORE OF AN OFFERING OR A TOOL TO ENERGIZE POWER UP YOUR SPELL. I HOPE YOU COULD READ THIS SUGGESTION AND MAYBE MAKE A VIDEO ABOUT IT, I MISSED YOUR RECENT LIVE, I AM SUPPOSED TO ASK YOU THIS. BUT THANK YOU IN ADVANCE. STAY SAFE AND THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR ALL THE HARD WORK YOU PUT IN EVERY VIDEO. WE ARE LEARNING FROM YOU. KEEP IT UP YOU ARE AMAZING. 🙏🤗🤩
Loved the video (even if it WAS torpedoing my book-buying-ban by putting more books on my wishlist!) I'm currently reading Kitchen Witch: Food, Folklore and Fairy Tale by Sarah Robinson, Night Train To Lisbon by Pascal Mercier and Gerald Garnder: Witch, by J. L. Bracelin, a bit of an ecclectic mix. Once I'd finished my last exam this semester I read Garlic & Sapphires: The Secret Life of a Critic in Disguise by Ruth Reichl pretty much in one sitting because I really needed something relaxing after weeks of revision. :D
I love all your book reviews, but this one has several books I am putting on my list. As a Christian witch, I appreciated hearing about the historical/spell book - I am so intrigued! Also, since I am still rather new to all things witchy, I am definitely going to pick up all the elemental books - starting with Air, since I was told recently that, because of toxic family dynamics with my ex, I have been surprising Air for many years so I am working on reconnecting with that element. Thank you for all your videos. I love your down-to-earth style and the way you so clearly explain all the various aspects of magic.
Any advice on how to find what type of magic is best for you? I'm drawn to a mix of fire and earth as that is very close to my personality. But people say i have to pick one and i don't feel for picking one coz most of how i got by in life without even thinking of witchcraft is by a mix of both... my tai chi teacher said i had my own special mix to make it work but will it also be in this field?
You don't need to choose any specific kind, try different techniques, see what works best for you. With time you may find there are particular forms of practice you enjoy more than others, but even then, you never need restrict yourself to just one style of practice, not if you don't want to.
I have so many books added to my Amazon cart and “saved for later” because of these videos 😂
I had to make a special little section just for those books haha
Me too 😅. O love books and I love her reviews.
Me too. My book budget has grown since I’ve been following Hearth.
Same here!

I’m currently reading Baba Yaga’s Book of Witchcraft- I have family roots in Russia and Lithuanian so I’m interested in learning about practices and beliefs from there.
My family roots grow from
from Russia to Poland... I practice Zagovory ( Russian folk magick which is verbal )
The colors in The Witches Familiar is based on Italian Witchcraft and the colors could be from the representations of the Italian countryside.
Omggggg this is why I love youu💙

I love Aiden’s books. He has others. Very informative.
also his surname is pronounced wok-ter. his other books are weaving fate and changeling 😊
As always genuinely appreciate your breakdowns! Thank you for sharing!

I think Feng Shui associates water with black and darkest navy. And lighter blues with wood element.

Thanks again!!!
Thank you for all of your wonderful book reviews. I routinely buy one or two of your recommendations, and it's opened me up to so many new authors.
Those colour associations in the second book make complete sense to me, more so than the more modern ‘wiccan’ colour associations

What category would you place leprechauns under?
They are commonly categorised as a solitary fae, that’s where I put them as well, but some people may well have them in their own category.
@@HearthWitch I nod my head in respect to the leprechauns every time I see a whirlwind!

Have you ever seen a dragon spirit
Any advice on how to find what type of magic is best for you? I'm drawn to a mix of fire and earth as that is very close to my personality. But people say i have to pick one and i don't feel for picking one coz most of how i got by in life without even thinking of witchcraft is by a mix of both... my tai chi teacher said i had my own special mix to make it work but will it also be in this field?

So it seems "Air Magic" is the only elemental magic book she has written, the others are from other authors sadly.
Do you have any books on draconic wicca?

I believe in Norse, Greek and a few Egyptian deities, what type of pagan am I?
Eclectic witchcraft
