Please please please remake this. This was a game that me and my dad would play and 100% everything. Every single riddle and puzzle completed back on PS1 and PS2. Hell it's so iconic to me that when someone follows my stream while I'm live the sound that plays is the jester's "batter up!" Love this game

Im 24 my brother and I have been playing GDL since we were little and still do to this day. Its always had a different feeling than any other game. that's crazy... in 99 I used to go to the arcade and play gauntlet legends. it was only 25 cents to play where most other arcade games were 50 cents. and you got waaaaaaaaay more playtime out of that game than most other arcade games. was well worth the coin

Gauntlet Dark Legacy was my childhood. It's one of the first games I ever played, it sparked my interest in fantasy and game design, and when I was a kid, I dressed up as Green Jester for like 4 or 5 Halloweens in a row. It makes me SO HAPPY to see this nearly forgotten gem get another shot at the spotlight.

This is the type of remake I wanted to see, I was hoping that Nightdive Studios would get around to this game to remaster it! But since it already is getting a remake I'm hyped! Especially playing it on the PC.
Hopefully this becomes a game we can buy at retail for consoles as well. Dark Legacy was and is an incredible game. I loved it to pieces, that game's soundtrack is part of the reason why, especially the Lich's boss battle theme. Would love to see an optional battle in which you can eventually unlock a version of him with beefed up stats. Gotta keep that amazing boss battle theme in tact though. *lol*

Game was like a 2 month journey dor me my brother and our best bud. We eventually just got stuck tho not knowing how to advance because we just couldnt handle the swarms mowing us down.
This game means so much to me, memories of me and my siblings playing this I’ll always hold dear. Replayed it a couple years ago with my little brother who never played it before and he loved it too. Really hope this remaster comes out soon

I like your concept. Gonna add, said evil sorcerer should have a bigger goal in mind, like wanting to resurrect Skorne and use him to eventually take over Arcadia and the known world. I would say add four more worlds to this just to pad the length. This is a rock solid concept that you clearly put a lot of thought into and I encourage you to keep going with it. The four worlds could be. 1. Realm of the Undead 2. Ft. Karlsberg 3. The Sky City of Tarazed 4. Tower of Destiny Bosses: 1. Super Lich 2. General Siegfried 3. Lord Kandor 4. Skorne Resurrected Of course, the Tower of Destiny stage and battle would take place after you conquer Markath's Castle, I could see Markath sacrificing himself to resurrect Skorne. Also, it would be a challenging battle with at least three forms to fight, possibly a fourth.

The thing i love the most about gauntlet outside of it being my favorite game as a teen. Ive modeled most of my homebrew dnd game after it. Using the heroes as highly notably characters and even uses outside of boss fights for the legendary items.

If only this was just ported with netplay. This game was amazing. This was in my family's rotation along with BG Dark Alliance 1&2, The Hunter the Reckoning Trilogy, and Champions of Norrath.
I remember coming from a birthday party as a young kid playing soul calibur 2 being amazed by the gameplay with my friends to come home and find Gauntlet on my fathers nightstand child me looking in the back cover and thinking i hope this is another fighting game like Soul Calibur but when i played it it was different unique i fell in love with it one of my favorite ps2 games

I fondly remember being a broke kid going to my local arcade and playing this for hours because it was the only free game there, I ended up having so much fun with it that it's a core memory for me. I'm glad to see I'm not the only person who enjoyed this game.

Gauntlet is one of my top favourite games from childhood. I recently beat it again with my girlfriend who had never previously played. Excited to see somebody is working on bringing it to more modern systems. I joined the Discord server a while ago to learn more about the project, see its progress and maybe support it somehow. However, I was banned almost as soon as I joined for no reason as I haven't even sent any messages or interacted with anybody in the server :/ I'd love to be able to check it out one day though. I don't know why I was banned since I pretty much just joined and nothing else, but if there's a mod that I could reach out to to review that ban, it'd be cool.
Oh, this is amazing. I love GDL. Other renditions of the game just aren't the same for me. GDL, for me, is simple to play, but challenging enough to never get boring. And by simple to play, I mean there isn't much you, as a player, have to do move along. Just shoot and solve a few puzzles here and there. You don't have to reload, you don't have to talk to NPCs. It's the ultimate adventure game. I know the low-poly might turn some people off, but I love it. I love the soundtrack. I love everything about GDL. So, I hope not much is changed. But if it is, I still have an old x-box that works when she wants to and a CD of the game when I need that trip down memory lane, I'm excited to explore and see what this group produces, nonetheless!
I was actually doing research to build a game much like Gauntlet Legends with a different art style and a few new features when I stubbled upon this video. Looking forward to playing the remaster for sure, hope you'll end up playing my creation as well. :)

Kind of hope they have toggles for some of the new gameplay changes. I'm all for them going with their vision but it'd be neat to have the option to play it closer to the original gameplay.
This is looking good. I would say, I believe WB still holds the rights, but are kind of sitting on the Gauntlet license not doing anything, as of late. I wouldn't trust WB not to do anything if people just put that out. They tend to be somewhat protective of IP no matter how far it seems they are letting it die. Maybe the team, before doing any distribution of it, can approach WB (like what Indie Developer: Brace Yourself Games did with Nintendo) and see about putting it out, in the official capacity. If they were smart, they'd probably appreciate the lack of development costs, and use it as a good way of making money with the smallest amount of overhead, even if they pay a decent sum to the people behind making it as a temporary independent contractor.
Finish the game then release it with no fanfare, start advertising it _after_ the fact. People will be glad they can actually play the thing without waiting X years or worrying about company Y shutting it down before it's done, and by the time company Y hits them with the C&D, the files are already available online and easily distributed by people other than the devs. The Streets of Rage remake did something like it (some angel in the cogs of SEGA's legal team must've delayed the C&D until after 5.1 released), so there's no reason it wouldn't keep working going forward.
Stoked that there's so many other fans dying for a remaster. Played this nonstop on gamecube back in the day and I plan on getting an og xbox soon just so I can play this gem again with friends who've never played it before

21; i grew up playing legends on my dad's n64. he got legends because he grew up playing the original atari cabinets. in turn i grew up playing legends. from all i've heard Dark Legacy is essentially Legends but with extra goods.
Ayy I played the original public demo of the remake and I've remained hyped still. Still in talks with Ada to provide some updated voices for the game, including Sumner and Jester.
This is my all time favorite game that I’ve ever had the enjoyment of playing I desperately wish they would do a remake in on the market for buying one but they are going for 150 dollars online like wtf I can get a GameCube from 112 but the game now cost more then the game console! Me and my older brother would wake up before school and play gauntlet we would play after getting out of school, then we would liter play while eating dinner and my mom would literally have to pull us off the game just to go to sleep. We played it 24/7 while we had it. Some of my best memories.
I wish it had a loot system. While it would be kind of difficult to to balance loot into the core experience, it would be worth it for all the replayablity it would bring.
Just got done with my play through for the 23rd time & bouta go do it again for my 24th hopefully I can break a world record doing this lol would love to see this game remastered for ps4, ps5, Xbox one, Xbox series X/S & PC port would do max sales if they push the game right and take after gauntlet dark legacy have more realms new places, new crystals to collect for realms, new wonder weapons, new coin areas to get new characters just revamp the whole game would be insane and maybe they can do DLC for new realms & characters I can definitely help them make this game sell I got ideas

The thing i love the most about gauntlet outside of it being my favorite game as a teen. Ive modeled most of my homebrew dnd game after it. Using the heroes as highly notably characters and even uses outside of boss fights for the legendary items.
man this was my game back when I was a kid I was born in 1992 and when I got this game as a Christmas present MAN me my brother and sister played this game endlessly. I can’t wait for the remake/remaster 🥲🫡 thank you guys so much
If only this was just ported with netplay. This game was amazing. This was in my family's rotation along with BG Dark Alliance 1&2, The Hunter the Reckoning Trilogy, and Champions of Norrath.

I remember coming from a birthday party as a young kid playing soul calibur 2 being amazed by the gameplay with my friends to come home and find Gauntlet on my fathers nightstand child me looking in the back cover and thinking i hope this is another fighting game like Soul Calibur but when i played it it was different unique i fell in love with it one of my favorite ps2 games

do you not know that you can play on PC already if use use an emulator.. ? PCSX2 and Dolphin have it. with Dolphin you can even play with people on separate computers! it's VERY easy. i HIGHLY recommend you give it a shot if you're dying to play!! youtube shadowed my other comments lol... so dumb. i hope this one works 🙃

I really hope this takes off and we are able to get a long overdue remaster of this classic game. I can’t wait to play through with the secret characters and the code ones. Do you think there could be any DLC with this game or maybe a sequal to this one with more secret characters and maybe a character creator?
gauntlet legends is one of my favorite games on the N64. I always wondered why till this day we haven't got a remaster ou proper sequel. I'm so glad to have found this project, I'll be looking foward to play the final version.

I’m so excited for the history of this game. As someone who enjoyed this game at the Arcade and the PS2, I look forward seeing how they develop this game. I’d love some updates with some new/updated realms. Maybe having a current day realm, a ww1/ww2 stage or even updated bosses like having to take down a robot Kaiju.

not saying you shouldn't play the remake, just until that comes out you could use the emulator :D
@@tiny_m0w yeah I’m currently saving for a handheld or one that connects to tv don’t have a pc at the moment but thank you for the names of the emulators that helps out a lot. It’s sad when 90% of gamers are getting emulators to enjoy gaming again maybe the gatekeepers should take some notes cause the gig is up real people want real games again games that actually made to think and feel something.
I put endless hours into Gauntlet Legends and Dark Legacy. It will be nice to see what's in store for the future of this remake.
I fondly remember being a broke kid going to my local arcade and playing this for hours because it was the only free game there, I ended up having so much fun with it that it's a core memory for me. I'm glad to see I'm not the only person who enjoyed this game.

Gauntlet is one of my top favourite games from childhood. I recently beat it again with my girlfriend who had never previously played. Excited to see somebody is working on bringing it to more modern systems.
I joined the Discord server a while ago to learn more about the project, see its progress and maybe support it somehow. However, I was banned almost as soon as I joined for no reason as I haven't even sent any messages or interacted with anybody in the server :/
I'd love to be able to check it out one day though. I don't know why I was banned since I pretty much just joined and nothing else, but if there's a mod that I could reach out to to review that ban, it'd be cool.

Oh, this is amazing. I love GDL. Other renditions of the game just aren't the same for me. GDL, for me, is simple to play, but challenging enough to never get boring.
And by simple to play, I mean there isn't much you, as a player, have to do move along. Just shoot and solve a few puzzles here and there. You don't have to reload, you don't have to talk to NPCs. It's the ultimate adventure game.
I know the low-poly might turn some people off, but I love it. I love the soundtrack. I love everything about GDL. So, I hope not much is changed. But if it is, I still have an old x-box that works when she wants to and a CD of the game when I need that trip down memory lane,

Kind of hope they have toggles for some of the new gameplay changes. I'm all for them going with their vision but it'd be neat to have the option to play it closer to the original gameplay.

This is looking good. I would say, I believe WB still holds the rights, but are kind of sitting on the Gauntlet license not doing anything, as of late. I wouldn't trust WB not to do anything if people just put that out. They tend to be somewhat protective of IP no matter how far it seems they are letting it die.
Maybe the team, before doing any distribution of it, can approach WB (like what Indie Developer: Brace Yourself Games did with Nintendo) and see about putting it out, in the official capacity. If they were smart, they'd probably appreciate the lack of development costs, and use it as a good way of making money with the smallest amount of overhead, even if they pay a decent sum to the people behind making it as a temporary independent contractor.
Finish the game then release it with no fanfare, start advertising it _after_ the fact. People will be glad they can actually play the thing without waiting X years or worrying about company Y shutting it down before it's done, and by the time company Y hits them with the C&D, the files are already available online and easily distributed by people other than the devs. The Streets of Rage remake did something like it (some angel in the cogs of SEGA's legal team must've delayed the C&D until after 5.1 released), so there's no reason it wouldn't keep working going forward.

I played the hell out of this game. Assuming the remake is going to be for pc, I need to start saving up. This is the only game from my childhood ive desperately wanted to play.
21; i grew up playing legends on my dad's n64. he got legends because he grew up playing the original atari cabinets. in turn i grew up playing legends. from all i've heard Dark Legacy is essentially Legends but with extra goods.

I played the original public demo of the remake and I've remained hyped still. Still in talks with Ada to provide some updated voices for the game, including Sumner and Jester.

This is my all time favorite game that I’ve ever had the enjoyment of playing I desperately wish they would do a remake in on the market for buying one but they are going for 150 dollars online like wtf I can get a GameCube from 112 but the game now cost more then the game console! Me and my older brother would wake up before school and play gauntlet we would play after getting out of school, then we would liter play while eating dinner and my mom would literally have to pull us off the game just to go to sleep. We played it 24/7 while we had it. Some of my best memories.
I wish it had a loot system. While it would be kind of difficult to to balance loot into the core experience, it would be worth it for all the replayablity it would bring.
Just got done with my play through for the 23rd time & bouta go do it again for my 24th hopefully I can break a world record doing this lol would love to see this game remastered for ps4, ps5, Xbox one, Xbox series X/S & PC port would do max sales if they push the game right and take after gauntlet dark legacy have more realms new places, new crystals to collect for realms, new wonder weapons, new coin areas to get new characters just revamp the whole game would be insane and maybe they can do DLC for new realms & characters I can definitely help them make this game sell I got ideas
