Hey this is Joe over at Partners. Thanks for the pink Kona donation. The kids have been shredding it. If you’re riding here, let me know. The kids would enjoy showing you what they can do.
Honzo ESD Hei Hei (the "downcountry" version) Process 134 Bummed to hear about the 111. AFAIK, it was one of the first movers into the short travel aggressive geo 29ers haha
Process 134 is a good trail bike and the process x and process 153 are pretty nice enduro/all mountain bikes. The 134 and process x look really nice but the process x is a bit pricey. The 134 comes in some pretty neat colours too.
I agree. The bigger wheels have a lot of advantages but one of the hidden costs is a lack of flickability. It was fun back on 26ers when you'd see a softball sized rock and be able to pop 4 feet in the air with a full turn-down. I don't have the skills to do that on big wheeled bikes.
Check out the Process 134. You should be able to get just the frame and put all your components on it. You will be able to run that 140mm fork on it. And get a new rear shock
Still dig the hair cut!! You can't just get a new rear triangle? I mean I would never want to talk someone out of getting a new bike, but... if you can go a little long on what you have by just getting a new rear triangle and save your pennies you can still ride! Also I know nothing about Kona's that was just my two, ignorant, cents! lol
Thanks, Cassidy! I've been looking for a rear triangle on PinkBike & Craigslist but no luck. Kona doesn't have anymore so I'm gonna see what I can save up and start shopping.
That new Bronson looks pretty cool. Kona is not a brand I really consider when looking at bikes. Probably a Process 153 but you're the ambassador so I think you'd know.
@@RideWithGravity joys of an aluminum frame. If you can find a local or semi local bike builder they'll beable to tell you off the pictures if it's doable.... that is if you weren't more excited about the prospects of a new bike than keeping the old one going. That said... probably the heihei is my vote, I rode the old iteration before they dropped it to revamp it and it was a ton of fun. Similar ethos
Is an ambassador for Kona, but has no Kona "next bike" list. OK, sure I'll play along. 2022 Process 134 29 (base model) w/a progressive coil or the effective spiritual successor, the 2022 Hei Hei (base model) which is slightly more progressive (lower, slacker, longer) than the 2017 Process 111. The Process 134 or Hei Hei seem to better fit the spirit of the Process 111. I'm on a 2019 Process 153 CR DL 27.5 w/ SRAM AXS GX RD/Controller and Cascade Components link. With 160/160, my Kona is my XC, enduro, Spider Mtn/RPR, Bentonville, do everything bike. I like my being overbiked to help bail myself out. Your Process 111 is so capable with a good rider like yourself. It really is cool to see what good riders can do with an "underbiked" ride. I hope you can replace the Process 111 chainstays from a stashed away warranty parts bin in a dark corner in a Kona warehouse. Cheers!
What should my next Kona be?
Buy a new chainstay. Kona had a chainstay for my 14 Tanuki. Worth looking into. Otherwise I'm partial to the 153.

I would like that. That would be a fun video, too. Do you still have my contact info?
@@RideWithGravity No, I don’t, but I could ask the folks at Grassroots. The kids would love that.
My first thought is to replace the chainstay. Other than that, maybe the 134.

Process 134/DL 29. Nice build, good price.
Can you not get a replacement rear end. ???
I haven't found one yet but I'm gonna keep looking. Kona doesn't have any. But something may show up on eBay or PinkBike.
previous generation process 153, the purple plastic one. best bike kona ever made.
One of my buddies has that one. That color, the way it rides, good grief that's a fun bike.
@@RideWithGravity those short chainstays make that bike so fun, and we'll never see chainstays that short on a mountain bike again. sad.

@@RideWithGravity that’s kind of what I figured. You’re a smart dude, you were looking. That sucks. It’s like losing a friend. Good luck.

Man, do I love my Process 134 CR! It’s perfect for KC and I’m sure it will hold its own in CO!!
Could someone not bulk it out with a weld?
That's a good question. I'll look in to it.

My vote is for the 134 🤘🏽
why dont you get a new chainstay ?
I can't find any at the moment but I've been looking on eBay, PinkBike & Craigslist. Kona doesn't have any.
@@RideWithGravity then just get it welded
Yep, I'm looking in to that. I bet there's somebody here in town that can help with that. Thanks!
Ring up Velo+ and see what they have in stock :)

Thanks man! Awesome advice! 🙌
Does it have to be a Kona. I got a few brands. Of course one is a Kona.
Guerilla Gravity.
What was the wheel and tire setup? I’m building one of these up and want to order the right rear tire
I was running Industry 9 Grade 300s with a 2.5" Maxxis Minion DHR.
@@RideWithGravity thanks for replying. a 2.4 dhr should be fine then?
I’m hoping you can get a welder to fix that chainstay.
Lemme check to make sure. I'm in St. George riding today. I'll check to make sure when I get home tomorrow and I'll update you.
Checked tonight and I'm running a Minion II 2.4"
I'm not sure if I would go 2.4" . I wouldn't want your bike to suffer the same fate as mine.
@@RideWithGravity thanks for the info!
