I loved your message about “showing up”. And I thank you so much for that message. My husband and I often get lazy and don’t want to go to the effort of attending events and your message reminded me how important it is to the persons hosting the event and how often, when we’ve dragged ourselves to something, we remark later what a special time it was. So, thank you so very much for this reminder! P.S. I’ll bet your guests LOVE having a treadmill and TV in your guest room!! I know I would! 😁

Great style in the cottage and out in the garden too. I appreciate that you have treasured pieces of furniture that previously belonged to loved ones. Family photos give such a warm and personal touch to your decor. Bottom line-you are a very personable, genuine lady who is not a cardboard cutout of anyone else. I admire your style and how you are so down-to-earth. I am unable to relate to homes filled only with designer pieces and pretentious owners. Your home is full of love and charm. Thx for sharing even your private spaces. I always look forward to each of your wonderful videos.

Lovely ! And what you said about showing up means a lot to me. My grandmother taught me how important this was for her in her life, was that she be there for others. She was dearly loved when she was alive, and greatly missed when she passed. People first, things second she always told me! ❤🌺

Your message regarding "showing up" was a great reminder for me! I am a homebody & often find myself making excuses to not "show up". How selfish of me and I am missing out on so much by choosing to not "show up".! My new mindset is that if a friend thinks enough of me to invite me, then I'd best be there! If a friend needs me, then I'd best be there! Your home, Linda, is a beautiful reflection of the interests, and life that you and Hubs share! It's personal...it's the two of you! Thank you for sharing your home with us.

I not only love how you have allowed us to have been on the 'journey' with you in this new cottage life, but I also love your joy and attitude...both brighten each segment that I watch! If you have the time, please share about your dining area as I've only caught glimpses of it as it finally turned out. Keep on with your great explanations of both the 'how to do things' and the 'where to purchase things' as you have a solid way of sharing that never comes off lecturing but rather you are the kind of speaker that draws folks to listen! Thanks for putting together all of this channel!

I have a question and forgive me if you talked about it and I missed. Do you like your outdoor compost tumbler? Does it do a good job and is it worth the effort. Ive had to downsize my library and it has broken my heart. Nothing like the smell of a good quality hardbound book. I have moved to senior living and went from a 3,000 sq ft home to 500. So I sold/gave away the majority of my library. I still have 4 6 and a half foot tall bookshelves that I kept my most precious books in and two smaller bookshelves in my bed room. I organize my books by subject and I do decorate in front of the books

If you’re not getting a green house, what about a curio style cabinet without the backing up against a window? A friend had a Secretary style cabinet repurposed for that. It’s like a piece of furniture that looks great inside his study. The window faces south and it has glass shelving. He stores garden tools in the drawers that he washes in the kitchen sink before putting them away and there’s a pull out shelf that he uses as workspace. He easily grows about 30 plants each winter in quart size containers.
Edit: IKEA has a metal/glass cabinet called Milsbo that people use as indoor greenhouses up against windows.

Linda and Stuart, great job on house tour. Everything is just beautiful! You ought to put a book together about this home and garden!!
I love the style of your decor and how you are figuring out where to put pieces that you already had and how you want the spaces to function!
I’ve been trying to think of what my signature touches are and I have to say that one is little trinket dishes and saucers! I have had a blue and white collection for many years and am adding pieces to it as well!
I’m 51 and love to be outside, and I also appreciate your hints and helpful products for the aging gardener! Having had a few injuries, they are also helpful for times when I’m healing!
You’ve inspired me so much and now I am adding boxwood villages to my yard and weeding even the tiniest weeds that peep up!
Love your channel, your home, your gardens and your outfits of the day!
Keep up the amazing work. I know you. It’s work so hard to provide all this content for your audiences! The effort is not lost on me, and many others!

Re: books. I’m a librarian so it’s hard for me to organize them by anything but call number (often printed in the book). Larger coffee tables books are stored on their side and get sorted by color/design. Fiction is separate and alphabetical by author, then title. It’s funny to see the color trends even within the call number - you still see a lot of green in the gardening section.

Since you & your husband enjoy the spacious outdoor feel is it possible to convert/extend an existing room into a small conservatory? Oh I have to fix dinner but will be back to watch this. I love your curated home. As a retired designer I feel like I’m suppose to follow those trends out there….but no. At my age I want my home to feel comfortable and well chosen artifacts yet a curated look. You give me that permission.😊

What a lovely cottage! I loved what you said about showing up for people. Your style is so collected and cozy! Is there a dining room in the cottage? You really did a great job of styling your home.

Linda because of you in a past video I was able to contact Jan who made your light switch plate cover. She is making one for me. Thanks so much! Love the home tour videos. 😊

Love part 2! I have a library in my home and I categorize by topic. I am slowly thinning books out and passing them on for others to love. For the side pathway you could do a play on the ivory tower reference and refer to it as the ivory pathway.

Look at what you have done in such a short time. I've been in the design business since college and I absolutely am so happy for you and pleased at all that you have done to make this your home! It's beautiful in every way and it screams "you and hubs" life. This is not an easy task and especially for yourself instead of a client because you have to live with your decisions. Wonderful! I agree about the greenhouse. The only thing I would fix/change is to consider raising the artwork over an entry table in the front room. In my opinion, it needs to be up about 4" - 6" to just be above the books on the table. I love the back room. Makes me want to sit and read a book and have a cup of coffee. Lovely Linda!!

Your home looks fabulous! In a small space of time you have transformed your home into a beautiful and welcome haven! You are an inspiration. And I think you made a wise decision on not installing a greenhouse in your backyard. Make life easier for yourself. You have the right balance of being enjoyable and yet not overwhelming work in your home and garden! Thank you for sharing your lovely home and garden with us! You are a “hostess with the mostest” , lol! P.S. I love to hear Stewart laughing! Your channel is my very favorite!

I color code mine in the order of the rainbow. I have a photographic memory so most times I remember the color of a book I am looking for:)

I have tons of books also. I categorize mine by authors 1st & categories if that doesn't apply. I hate, hate, hate decorators that turn them backwards! I always say " the sad sign of unread books!"

Living in a small space, but love my books. I’ve limited myself to 12 linear yards of books, but my bookcases are organized by genre: Historic preservation; gardens; art; home design; music; children’s literature; poetry; British lit faves; American lit faves; modern lit faves. Color coordinating would never work for me!! And the bookcases are primarily for books, not decor. I just can’t give up the books. So my sitting room has a strong library vibe.

Maybe it's just me, but I would love details on the pieces that make up the gallery wall in your larger room. I collect maps of places I've visited too and always seem to get asked the significance of each piece. Kind of tells the story of bits and pieces of our life's journey. Thanks for your consideration!

Thank you and Stewart for showing up!. Look forward to your weekly videos. As for books, fiction by author, non fiction by subject and some displayed for their colour or just because they are favourites. I need to purge some though, I know I’m unlikely to read them again but they are like old friends. It’s hard 🤷

Nice work Linda! Very strong safari vibes there. I know you are into that look now. Very 80’s banana republic, Out of Africa etc. but yours is more eclectic safari so a more
Contemporary version of it. Well done! 👏🏻🥰❤️
