Sometimes I think that Igas biggest fault in front of many American commentators is that she is nemesis of Americans favourite…
I like Gills picks though. Have very similar Iga & Aryna compete for first spot than Lena &Coco doing well, Zheng & Muchova just after ( hope for Wimbly for one more Czech glass girl;), firstly thought ve Jasmine outside top 8 but this girl has grit & good attitude& athleticism, Jess will pbly play less & focus on GS ( injuries started to come more often), then hope for Anisimova & Osaka but can be Paula & Shnaider aw. Tx for your effort

Commentators from other parts of the world usually value her much higher ( maybe not UK though) & give more credit

I think people are forgetting that Sabalenka opted out of the Olympics so technically she was just as fresh as everyone else at the end of the year. Im not sure where Gil is getting his information from. Coco's serve and forehand problem has only been talked about for a max of 2 years; beyond that she was climbing the rankings and most of her problems were due to inexperience and other players excelling at a faster rate because they were older. Remember that Rybakina, Sabalenka and Swiatek are at least 3 years older than Coco.

With Rybakina, it's all about whether she can stay healthy. She had a lot of illnesses last year, which didn't allow her to develop consistency/momentum on tour.

Saba is not as consistent as Iga has been in the last 2 years, age is not on her side too Iga, Serena got the number one ranking at a younger age like 21 and Serena already had like 10 GS by the age of 26. Iga is also 3 years younger and Coco is 6 years younger. Iga, Coco and Rybakina have better win loss percentages than Aryna. She won’t be year end number one I go with Iga or Coco. Coco is growing I don’t think she’ll be as easy to beat as she’s been. Haters just don’t want to accept she’s much younger than the rest she’s the victim of her own success.

That John guy really embarrassed himself putting Iga nr 5. After today’s performance in Brisbane it’s clear she’s be no 1 again the coming year! And she says herself she’s hungry 😀

i dont think so. I think everyone is overestimating both Sabalenka and Swiatek's time at the top and underestimating how much competition that they both have right now. Both have signaled that they are having a tougher time than they have in the last 2 years to win matches. Sure Iga had a lot of bagels but I dont think that will continue at the rate that it has in past years.

My predictions, quite similar to Gill's:
    1. Iga Swiatek
    2. Aryna Sabalenka
    3. Coco Gauff
    4. Elena Rybakina
    5. Zheng Qinwen
    6. Emma Navarro
    7. Jessica Pegula
    8. Jasmine Paolini
    9. Diana Shnaider
    10. Paula Badosa
I can get behind all of John's picks except Iga at No. 5, like, I just don't see how that happens unless Iga suffers a serious injury or something like that. Even if Iga has a bad year, she has shown her floor is high enough such that she doesn't slide down that far, even Gill said her floor is something like No. 2 in the world. Maybe No. 3 or 4 if Rybakina or Gauff have breakthrough years, but 5 is too far imo.

37:40 I disagree. For me and many others Sabalenka has more room to improve and if she’s on she’s unbeatable. It just feels like she will be more dangerous when she masters all her skills / shots. Swiatek kinda peaked for me in 2022 and I don’t see much room left to improve. 😅
