Cooking with Compost?! Can a Potato Survive the Heat? 🔥🥔

- I started with an unusual experiment: cooking a potato in a compost heap! Did you know a well-maintained compost pile can hit temperatures between 130°F to 160°F (55°C to 70°C)? That's hot enough to break down organic matter and potentially slow-cook food.
After leaving the potato to heat up naturally in the compost, it’s time to finish it off in my wood-burning stove for that perfect roasted texture. Will this two-step process give us a potato that's soft inside and crispy outside? Stick around to see the results of this hot experiment! 🌱🔥🥔
Use a cast iron pot with a lid on top of the stove and wrap the spyd the same way you did in foil..... compost heaps are for compost!!😅
Cleggy, I look forward to seeing you eat your Christmas dinner that was cooked in the compost heap. I also look forward to seeing you at A&E after eating it. 🤣
A&E Coming soon!
lol great comment
Hi Cleggy , Me thinks it just steamed it the compost and yes if you vacuum it will steam it , edible yes but it would be like a boiled spud as opposed to a backed spud ,great experiment though 👍
It was a good try!!
Looking forward to your return to the fields of "old Blighty". Cheers
Great try away
Microwave oven is your best bet. Only outside if you are camping .

Place a can of soup in there. It should get hot enough to eat, but not so hot it explodes.
Good idea!
Yay here we go! 😂 😊😊hahaha there’s nothing wrong with that? You can cook a chicken or Pork yeah no problem. Cleggy you need to leave the potatoes in deep hot ashes over night my lover 😁😁
Good idea!
Try cooking some eggs on the compost 😁
