As a retired New Orleans fireman I've been following you for over 10 years. I have actually used some of your earlier videos back when I was teaching. Whether you realize it or not, your videos capture a lot of fire behavior and tactics lessons. Your work has had a profound inspiration on fire recruits, their budding careers, and those that they protect. You have "arrived" when they give you an unrestricted access the way that they do. That is a tremendous amount of trust and confidence in you, and it takes years to build that type of relationship; it is great to see that all of your hard work paid off. Every now and then I catch a glimpse of guys that were here for Hurricane Katrina. I always enjoy watching progression and success; it is great to see passion and dedication rewarded, particularly when it is done in the interest of others, with little or no compensation. Thank you again.
As a resident of the French Quarter we value our FF's highly. Caught this fire on my Scanner Radio cell phone app shortly after it started. Then watched the youtube Five Borough Scanner channel that started with the in store security camera recording the E-Bike battery igniting. An employee tried to remove the bike but the flames were too intense. The interior attack was going great until the fire spread into the cockloft. Command then kept requesting more buckets. The 5th alarm fire emptied the Bronx of all available fire apparatus. You think the smoke was bad...it generated another Box for a fire around the corner that was the residual smoke from this fire. Your video then put the whole fire scene into a visual picture. As always...great capture John! Thank you.
Thank very much for filming this for us to see. I shall never own anything that needs a lithium ion battery. FDNY these are such dedicated people. Not enough thank you's are said to these dedicated people. John as always please be safe. And blessings to you always. 😁

It is truly amazing how much water is being sprayed onto that roof from (as far as I can tell) 6 or 7 towers and smoke is still pouring out. Looks like the whole roof has collapsed so those FFs got out just in time. Also, I had no idea that the Fire Dept. used drones. A good close look and no helicopters at risk from smoke and updrafts. That was one heck of a fire. Thank you so much for posting it, I was entranced and gratified by the FF's determination and expertise.
I've seen some videos from other departments where they use tethered drones that don't need battery swaps, they just go straight up from the pad. I think the main point is to get a thermal/IR camera to identify hot spots.
WELL, THAT MEANS A LOT FOR ME TO HEAR STEPHEN.....GLAD YOU ENJOY THE VIDEOS AND CHANNEL AND OF COURSE THANKS SO VERY MUCH FOR THE KIND WORDS AND SUPPORT.....

As ALWAYS absolutely AMAZING video capturing the AMAZING job by FDNY. I was getting palpitations in the beginning listening to the transmissions of getting all members off the roof & out of the building! 🙏🙏🙏 FDNY!!! #SIMPLYTHEBEST!!!
Terrific video. For awhile I had serious questions whether they could contain the fire to these two businesses. Yet FDNY always seem to know what they're doing. You covered the fire from varied angles and perspectives; very impressive coverage. I just think you should be more cautious with all that smoke you're breathing in when you were up on that roof. Take care of yourself. Cheers from Texas.
Excellent, Excellent, Excellent coverage of the fire and damaged done by fire. Understand why firefights are concerned about these lithium batteries. Important you be careful covering the fires putting your self at risk. Salute the men women women men of city protection placing their lives In jeopardy to protect and serve, key ethic code. Wow plus there would be laundry chemicals inside the laundry mat as hope and pray know one get injured . Always a great video you stay safe . Watching from 🇬🇧
I watch a TON of these videos and this is by far the best footage I have seen! Not only is it amazing footage, but it’s incredible how so many firefighters can work in sync to destroy a massive fire like that! I have a friend who is former FDNY and he is correct when he says “America’s finest!” The coms are clear and concise. There isn’t too much noise like many other videos I have seen. Not only was this an enjoyable operation to watch, but I learned a lot! I feel so bad for the owners of each establishment, but I know they are rebuilt by now. Excellent work and thank you all for your service!❤
Hey Maj watched this video again. I must confess I do watch your videos over and over. Good to see you have front row privilege for the press conference.
I know I am late to this video but it is definitely one of your best! Amazing coverage! Crazy how this escalated from an e-bike fire to such a huge loss. These bikes are really making a name for themselves in the fire fighting community. 14:23 Con-Ed can't turn the gas off due to heavy fire at the back of the building! 41:25 Incredible to watch that volume of water, from two hoses, go into the building and the fire doesn't even seem phased by it. 53:40 Looks like they may have had some challenges backing the truck into position. The Toyota was pulled right out of the parking space. 55:00 "Holy Smokes!" Pun intended? LOL 1:15:00 What an incredible shot!!! You might as well be in the bucket with the members!!! 1:31:02 "As per Chief Hodgens..special call two additional engine companies" The big guy making some moves! 1:37:00 I wonder if they had an issue with that hydrant when they arrived on scene, hence the replacement. Seems odd that they would replace it during an actual working fire if it was working. 1:49:00 You gotta love them bringing the suspect out for everyone to see :D Thankfully they stopped the fire from progressing into the furniture store! Wow! That would have flattened the whole block. Nice job finishing up on the roof. The aftermath is simply incredible!
I was young when my grandfather passed. Never got to talk with him about his life as a Battalion Chief of the NYFD. I do know he once fought a pier fire for several days and on another fire was on a stairway with others when it gave way. It would be safe to say, for whatever reason they do it. These guys a pretty brave individuals.

Yet another E-Bike battery starting a fire. Thanks for the outstanding coverage John. Nasty fire. I hope all the members are ok. Great work as usual and as always stay safe out there.
Great coverage as usual. A tragedy started because a supermarket worker stored his electric bike inside so it wouldn’t get stolen while he worked. Now he’s out work, along with many others and entire neighborhood inconvenienced for groceries and laundry-all a consequence of NYC’s soft-on-crime policies. Now the mayor wants even more regulations.

Hey JJ. I’ve been following you for a few years but I think this was your best videos. The “Birds Eye of 3 buckets” was a beautiful angle and you showed so much of what goes into such a large scale incident. Well done. PS - there’s the Drone at !
Awesome views between what you captured and what Skyler captured. It blows my mind the disaster caused by a lithium battery. Is this from the battery being plugged in to charge or just the fact the battery was attached to bike that wasn't being used at the time ? I don't know about these batteries, as you can tell !! I always pray for your safety as well as all personnel working the fire. God put us all on earth for certain reasons and these fire fighters are top notch at their jobs. Stay safe 💙💙
As usual, someone probably left it on the charger way past the time it was fully charged, or a wire or something else had been damaged and maybe "repaired" by the owner with electrical tape or something. A lot of these batteries that cause these fires apparently have been "refurbished", you take a guess at what kind of work is done and by what untrained, uncertified, non factory/OEM location this is being done at! It could be 19 year old Jose who learned how to "refurbish" the batteries by watching a youtube video and selling them at half price. The ignition source isnt that important in this fire, the fire could have been started by a discarded cigarette, what cause it to get so extensive was typical- a LOT of highly flammable materials- paper, cardboard, foam board, plastics, carpeting, wood, fabric- it all burns fast and hot, and then people jam a lot of stuff into small spaces, lots of obstructions in hallways and elsewhere, illegal partitions added, chained or locked doors
@@HobbyOrganist thank you very much for your explanation. I learned something new today !! Yea, this is crazy . Very true ........... lots of combustible items to keep this fire roaring for hours upon hours.
WELL, THANKS SO MUCH FOR THE KIND WORDS TOWARDS US.....AS FOR THE BATTERIES, IT IS OVERCHARGING THAT IS THE MAIN CAUSE OF THESE IGNITING.....OF COURSE MANY HAVE IGNITED ALONE ON STREETS AND HOMES WITHOUT BEING PLUGGED INTO THE CHARGER.....THEY ARE CHEAP AFTER MARKET CHINESE BATTERY WHICH ARE THE ONES CAUSING ALL THE TROUBLE....ANYWAY, THANKS SO MUCH.....
Another possible cause of lithium battery fires is that if the battery is compromised it has a tendency to release all of its stored energy as a tremendous amount of heat and fire, hence why lithium battery fires are so difficult to put out as they keep going until all the energy is gone
@@HobbyOrganist could be 19yo Jose who is repairing batteries after watching some RUclips videos.. bruh.. racist much? Welcome to.. tell me you're a racist without telling me you're a racist 👋🤡

Great job as usual!! A lot to see. And this is the second grocery store, I think this year, that's gone up. Sad. And the fact it was a lithium battery that could have started it all. In some cases you maybe need a Scot pack for yourself. Stay safe!!

@@THEMAJESTIRIUM1 I think the problem is that in NYC theses E-Bikes and E-Scooters have become so popular with people is because of the gridlock traffic and congested streets, and it makes it a much easier way to travel and get around.
Seriously thats a mad situation and started just from an e bike battery. Excellent video capture, i bet it really helps when reviewing back and assessing the situation, working out lessons that can be learned and Improvements that can be made. Im keeping my e bike securely locked up in an outbuilding from now on.
Jj good work, you have clearly shown the importance of the roof report to command and how important it is in the decision process. Good coverage from all angles.

I was scared for you at points in the video-gathering activity. What a fast, dangerous fire. I would say this was a 5 alarm plus … as you mentioned no more than five alarms are struck by FDNY. That old hydrant you shot video on probably seized up when members tried to activate. Quick action by the city crews to install a new head piece. Thanks for your work today. Stay safe.
Well done Sir on the coverage of this fire. You really showed all aspects of the Fire Fighters. I'm am curious about what camera and film you used to record this.
This is a tremendous video, thank you. I won't mention you know what since everyone else has. All because of one of those batteries again. They did a great job of stopping the fire at the furniture store. They are amazing! I hope all the people injured are ok. Did you see the press conference with the Commissioner, Congressman and the borough President? They talked about laws for the battery use, but people also have to take responsibility for their own actions.
Please wear at least an N95 when reporting on these fires, you're gonna hurt your lungs! A 3M half-face respirator with 3M filters would be best, but they're obstructive and it might be hard to hear you on camera. This is coming from an EMT here in Brooklyn, be safe brother :)

Thank you for another upload, I am aware you been doing this for years now, however wasn't it a little dangerous for you to go up onto a roof of an exposure building. YOUR WELOCME AND OF COURSE THANKS SO MUCH.....
I am really impressed by the professionalism, capabilities, machinery, logistics and organization of the FDNY. The committment and performance of each and every FDNY team member during this fire was amazing, from management to operations. The whole organization worked like a Swiss watch.
In addition, thank you John for documenting the efforts which such dedication, attention to detail and background knowledge.
The fire was awful and I hope noone got hurt, the video is awesome. Thank you.
yes listening and watching many departments im impressed of the professionalism skill, training, quick manpower availability, equipment and coordination of the fdny
WELL, SO ARE TOTALLY RIGHT ABOUT THE FDNY AND HOW THEY OPERATE.....AS FOR ME I AM GRATEFUL TO YOU ALL ALWAYS AND YOUR WELCOME.....THANKS SO VERY MUCH.....
As dedicated and devoted as you are, I'm very surprised they don't make you an honorary member. Your work is by far, second to none, and no one else can hold a candle to your abilities.
Many of your videos can be used in training videos, in order to teach new recruits and volunteers. The video on this fire couldn't have been any better.
I always like it when the FDNY members acknowledge you, and call out to you from time to time. I sure would like to come up and meet you sometime. I know it would be a lot of fun. Two-And-Two🤟
i agree. I have thought this many times as well. You should have FDNY jacket too
Thank you and take care John.
YOUR WELCOME BARB AND THANKS SO MUCH.....
JJ., I want to commend you for your hard work and extreme effort to cover this horrific fire. I want you to know you are in my prayers that you remain safe at all times.
WELL, THAT MEANS A LOT FOR ME TO HEAR STEVE.....I TRY TO DO THE BEST I CAN IN ORDER TO BRING YOU ALL THE BEST FOOTAGE POSSIBLE.....THANKS SO MUCH FOR THE KIND WORDS AND SUPPORT STEVE.....
Thank you.
VERY COOL AND YOU ARE RIGHT WITH THE REST OF YOUR COMMENT.....THANKS SO MUCH JZ.....
Thank very much for filming this for us to see. I shall never own anything that needs a lithium ion battery. FDNY these are such dedicated people. Not enough thank you's are said to these dedicated people. John as always please be safe. And blessings to you always. 😁
Lol li-ion is in everything. Phones, computers, tablets, smoke detectors. Double a triple a batteries
Lithium is kind of hard to avoid these days. Just don't buy cheap Chinese garbage.
Coin cell batteries too, so garage door openers, along with every computer, even a desktop.
Absolutely the best coverage of a fire I've seen. You must have a great relationship with the NYFD to cover all aspects of the different areas of how to fight a fore. You get my thumbs up. Thank you for your view point as to what these men and women do to keep us safe. Thank you Thank you Thank you 😊😊😊
WELL, THAT MEANS A LOT FOR ME TO HEAR AND OF COURSE GLAD YOU ENJOY THE VIDEO AND CHANNEL.....MOST KIND OF YOU AND THANKS SO MUCH.....
Just WOW! Another informative and amazing video. I love the way you put so much time and effort into all your videos. Watching the hydrant being replaced was a great catch. Stay Safe 😘💓
I hope they honor you as an honorary smoke eater...Thank you for your time and effort...
Yet another great video, keep yourself safe up there with all the utilities on the roof and watch the smoke. Great video just be safe
I WILL TROY AND OF COURSE THANKS SO MUCH.....

YOU ARE VERY WELCOME AND I TOTALLY AGREE WITH YOUR COMMENT.....LOTS OF MOVING PARTS TO A HUGE FIRE INDEED HOLLY.....THANKS SO MUCH.....
I've seen some videos from other departments where they use tethered drones that don't need battery swaps, they just go straight up from the pad. I think the main point is to get a thermal/IR camera to identify hot spots.
Thank You for your hard work and continued dedication in bringing these FDNY Fire Ground Clips ! You definitely earned your keep on this one !
WELL, THAT MEANS A LOT FOR ME TO HEAR STEPHEN.....GLAD YOU ENJOY THE VIDEOS AND CHANNEL AND OF COURSE THANKS SO VERY MUCH FOR THE KIND WORDS AND SUPPORT.....
watching the hydrant replaced on sene was awesome great video JJ thanks for all that you guys Do.

Great stuff brother, these e bikes goto be redesigned or just plane gone. I have said this to you many times. First responders injured is this incident, luckily no fatalities. John you are the best at what you do take care Brother. Take care and be safe.

YES IT WAS VERY HECTIC AND SCARY INDEED VICTORIA.....THANKS SO MUCH.....
What a messy Inferno! Great Job by the FDNY! And what a good Video, Great explanations! Greetings from Germany! 🖐️🤟
I AGREE AND THANKS SO MUCH.....
Perfect view
That is the norm for this channel.
THANKS SO MUCH JOSH.....
Excellent, Excellent, Excellent coverage of the fire and damaged done by fire.
Understand why firefights are concerned about these lithium batteries.
Important you be careful covering the fires putting your self at risk.

Liked the news report and was able to hear speakers.
I am a volunteer firefighter out here in Oregon, and I have been watching your videos for years! Excellent video as always! I'll be enjoying vacation number 7 out in NYC in June, and I hope I somehow accidently bump into you on the next big one.
WELL, JUST KEEP ME POSTED AND LET ME KNOW AND MAYBE WE CAN HAVE A COFFEE OR SOMETHING.....THANKS SO VERY MUCH.....
Wow plus there would be laundry chemicals inside the laundry mat as hope and pray know one get injured . Always a great video you stay safe . Watching from 🇬🇧
Excellent video JJ. All that mess from an e-bike battery. Incredible.
YES INDEED JOHN AND THANKS SO MUCH.....
Great coverage as usual!!!
THANKS SO MUCH.....
Hey Maj watched this video again. I must confess I do watch your videos over and over. Good to see you have front row privilege for the press conference.
GLAD YOU ENJOY THE VIDEOS AND THANKS SO MUCH DAVE.....
LOL
1:15:00 What an incredible shot!!!
1:49:00 You gotta love them bringing the suspect out for everyone to see :D
Thankfully they stopped the fire from progressing into the furniture store! Wow! That would have flattened the whole block.
Nice job finishing up on the roof. The aftermath is simply incredible!
YES, I TOTALLY AGREE WITH YOUR ENTIRE COMMENT.....IT WAS A VERY SAD TRAGIC FIRE FOR THE COMMUNITY.....THANKS SO MUCH.....
Awesome job again John. Thank you!

THANKS SO MUCH DAN.....
I was young when my grandfather passed. Never got to talk with him about his life as a Battalion
Chief of the NYFD. I do know he once fought a pier fire for several days and on another fire was on a stairway with others when it gave way. It would be safe to say, for whatever reason they do it. These guys a pretty brave individuals.
WOW INTERESTIGN INDEED TOM.....THANKS SO MUCH FOR SHARING THAT WITH US.....THANKS TO YOUR GRANDPA FOR HIS SERVICE TO OUR CITY.....
Outstanding video, JJ! I think you had your "magic smoke magnet clothes" on for this one, though. The clips where you were up there with the tower ladders was totally awesome. Stay safe and keep the videos coming. 👍🙏💕
WELL, THE SMOKED FOLLOWED ME EVERYWHERE.....HEHEHE.....AS FOR THE TOWER LADDERS THAT WAS COOL INDEED.....THANKS SO MUCH TERRI.....
Another outstanding job JJ! Thank you so much.
YOUR VERY WELCOME AND OF COURSE THANKS SO MUCH.....

Hey JJ. I’ve been following you for a few years but I think this was your best videos. The “Birds Eye of 3 buckets” was a beautiful angle and you showed so much of what goes into such a large scale incident. Well done.

Nice job John! Great coverage.
THANKS SO MUCH ANTHONY.....
Another awesome video thank you! God bless love from Northern Colorado
A lot of these batteries that cause these fires apparently have been "refurbished", you take a guess
at what kind of work is done and by what untrained, uncertified, non factory/OEM location this is being done at!
Great narration… thanks.

YOUR WELCOME ED AND OF COURSE THANKS SO MUCH.....
Great job as usual!! A lot to see. And this is the second grocery store, I think this year, that's gone up. Sad. And the fact it was a lithium battery that could have started it all. In some cases you maybe need a Scot pack for yourself. Stay safe!!
I TOTALLY AGREE GREG.....THESE BATTERIS ARE VERY DANGEROUS.....I SHOULD USE A SCOTT PACK BUT IT WOULD BE WIERD.....I WEAR SMALL COVID MASKS STILL.....THANKS SO MUCH.....

Wow John, incredible video work!!! Please stay safe. Shout out to my Dad's house 75/33/19 first due. This was unbelievable. I saw how that fire started from the video footage and I could not believe my eyes how fast it just spread!!! God Bless the FDNY.

Stay safe.
amazing shot of the 3 tower ladders...i mean, you were right there with em !! awesome video!!!

For me as German, its stunning to get that Close up Views from the FDNY. I have Thing for your big big Towerladders, watching them in Operation is awesome to
Thank you for another upload, I am aware you been doing this for years now, however wasn't it a little dangerous for you to go up onto a roof of an exposure building. The fire could have spread to the building you were on trapping you. I think personally, if I had seen all the "professionals in their fire protective equipment leave the roof and using a rear guard hose line. I would have gotten off too.
OK.....BUT THERE WAS NO DANGER OF IT GETTING IN THERE AND THE MEMBERS CAME UP THERE WAY AFTER I WAS GONE.....BUT THANKS SO MUCH.....
