For the people that are skeptical, the developer for this game posted a video on their Twitter showing them noclipping through the same map and showing off the animations.
@@Kholaslittlespot1 the camera movement is the same in the twitter video, it's janky but it's real-time and in-engine.
@@-TriP- yeah I've just seen it. Happy to be proved wrong here!
The computer graphics part could be them manipulating the transitions in the video to make it look like they are clipping.
My understanding is that they recorded this in a legitimate real setting then are laying the design over it. You can clearly tell what is animated and what is not. It’s not so much a game, rather a playable vr walkthrough of said environments. The textures of what’s interactable in the game have game physics/model lines while everything else is strictly real world model. It’ll be fun to play in a sense of it being sort of the first of it’s kind, but it won’t have much variety because the environment again isn’t interactable aside of the scripted events.
@@johnkyl123I don’t get what you’re trying to say. This is a game as much as any other game is a game. None of this is recorded it’s just made to look like it is.
This feels like a horror game simply due to the fact that it looks so damn realistic, not in a PR sense, like actually scared that the person could've possibly recorded his own death.
No not really 😂 it's just that soundtrack they chose to implement 👌
Dude. The guy running across the hall was scary.
speaking of horror games, Imagine a found footage horror game with these insane graphics.
@@easysyndicate Silence would've been scarier, the music takes you out of the realism of the graphics enough to make it not as scary as it could

The body camera PoV is on fucking point with the fisheye and bobbing effects.
This looks incredible, so much to the point that it doesn't even look like a game and actual recorded footage.
It is recorded footage
Could be, we gonna play with someone irl and kill for great companies interest
@@LoopsPls Ive been to that place for some urban exploration. I thought Days Before, or whatever is called taught you something. Triple AAA ue5 games dont look like this. Dont be a fool, please.
@@TonyKalashnikov it is recorded footage of the game indeed
You are everywhere... :)
It's incredible. It looks hyperrealistic. There was textures at one point that I could tell where rendered and right at the end the way the body dropped and chair fell over.
If you had shown this as real body cam footage on the news I would be none the wiser.
The flash light doesn't cast it's shadows properly as well in all the scenes. Full raytracing would have made this even more questionable.
the guy went through a wet surface but no splashy sound, very noticeable. Also metal bridge would usually make a sound
April fool
What’s interesting is if you take away all the visual distortions and camera shake and stuff, it doesn’t look hyper realistic anymore partly because the textures actually aren’t great, nothing wrong with that I just think it’s interesting
@@Cheesepuff8 the lights are also what's making this look so realistic. The blurring and shake just add to it but the lights are top notch except for the flashlight.
Fentanyl Cry is looking amazing.

1:24 - 1:26 is the biggest tell this is an actual game. The alluminum cans on the right have flat untextured bottoms. The can on the bottom is even clipping into the shelf. Impressive honestly.
That and the fact that all the cans look exactly the same, as do the posters, the windows, the walls, etc. They didn't use procedural blending like Horizon.
theres clues here and there but some of them could be written off as just being a filter of some kind. this one though i think is more definitive. good catch
Nah man you dont understand a bunch of stoners playing cod all day said its fake in the comments so obviously its fake jeez
biggest tell for me was the pants at 0:35
1:29 the objects on the right, over the green tarp are missing shadows
I imagine this to be one of those games where it's actually real, and we are manning robots for the US Army and killing their enemies IRL. All while thinking it's a game.
So less sci-fi Ender's Game.

The impact of Mirror's Edge CANNOT be overstated even though the IP itself died. Every FPS to this day still use its motion mechanics. Amazing game and sequel.
Nah it was just the first to do this when it became possible, in 2007 at the beginning of a console generation. Game itself is ok but nothing special

@@ThomasVvV nah man, it's like saying "Ur was the first human city at the beginning of the formation of agriculture. City is OK but nothing special"
That's not really how it works, being first is what makes it special. All others innovated off of it
Its not really the 'graphics' its the lighting. The colors in the real world are far more muted than is depicted in almost all video games. This game seems to have gotten the right color balance.
It's the realistic camera movements/animations + photogrammetry + UE5 lumen & nanite
Most video also have oversaturated colors and you dont even see the full spectrum of colors and nuances.
Lighting is part of "graphics", thats why nvidia has such a hard on for ray tracing
Yes! came to comment this, graphics (poly count details etc) make up a a very small part of the real life realism in this. It's a large part thanks to the lighting, swift camera movements, camera exposure, animations and definitely the muted colours that make it so realistic, it's so realistic it's unnerving.
@@ViceZone Yup. The sound design was awesome too. I love the 'airsoft bodycam mic' feel of it. very cool
I thought it was real until it shifted to night, then you could tell it was a game, such incredible technology.
Looks to me like they used realitycapture for the entire building. The only part that Im confused by is how his hands manipulate the gun, it seems so inconsistent and real compared to any other video game unless its some kind of vr sensors on each individual finger, idk but it looks insane.
it looks like it has a range of motion instead of a static position based on where you looked last. So after turning a certain amount, you're "locked" at the maximum and it moves it normally. You can see it around 1:54.
This also happens on the vertical axis too (when it zooms in and the gun is at the top left). It seems that the gun has a certain "boundary" that it can't be out of. But everything else seems fine. Although it's Unreal Engine 5, so fair chance it's just set up with a good stage which is why it looks so nice. (mostly lighting and shadows are really hard)
Guys, this is fake and its obvious for reasons you say. Only npcs are characters added to real life footage. I ve been to that place for urban exploration. Dont be fools, please.
@@Czejenesku even if you have been to that place, that doesn't mean it's fake. It could just be using 3d scans of the building.
It probably only took like 20 mins to create this map with iphone lidar scanner.
@@Czejenesku thats what realitycapture software is used for and its honestly not incredibly complicated.

I can’t wait for games to play like this in VR, especially horror games. Shits gonna be insane
this is bodycam realistic so in vr it would look trash because your brain wouldnt believe it is in a bodycam . and these guys cant do actual realism that isnt trough a bodycam.
honestly, yeah. thats hopefully where vr is going. Movie like games you can play.
@@myname-mz3lo They start off with actual realism and then run it through filters to make it look like a bodycam. You can see what realism, games can look like just from watching any of the UE5 showcases
The fact that there is so much debate in here just speaks to how well made the visuals are. It's 100% a game in UE5, as a game designer myself it's really easy to spot the texture tiling for the walls (there is a lot of tiling because they are probably using massive texture sizes), and at several points you can see clear breaks in the character animations as the model is switching between animations (like sprinting to walking and reloading). You can also see unrealistic physics for some objects that weren't vertex weighted appropriately (like the chair easily, and slowly, falling over at the end and not having any bounce, despite having a wide base). Looks incredible, though.
and some materials, like the metal piping around those square white containers was a little too shiny and new looking. Or the aluminum cannisters all being stacked together you can see some repeating patterns in the oxidation. That said, still impressive. The fact that we need to pick out small things like this to find the artificiality of it.
I could have sworn it was recorded with a game texture filter to make it look like a game. The chair and body physics was the only thing that gave it away. It still makes me doubt some of it because the animations with the hand/pistol just seems so realistically inconsistent it feels like they had to record that in real life and then port it in somehow.
I dont see what you mean with the wall textures. They all look different.
my best guess would be that they recorded the pov perspective going through the building and added the chair and other dynamic objects after. And the enemies probably using a greenscreen.
@@Immerteal Dude, there are a lot of duplicate assets. In the warehouse its easier to see, just look at the bags of cements or barrels, they are all the same, without any variation of color, rust, dirt. Or the hands at the min 1:21, look it frame by frame. The animations are insanely good, but you can still see the fingers glitching through the pistol.
It’s a render. Not actual gameplay which we are debating
As someone who’s into airsoft a bit, this looks EXACTLY like someone wearing a bodycam and playing airsoft. Insane.
This to me felt like watching gameplay for a Half-life 2 trailer when that was the pinnacle of graphical fidelity during its time and here we go again...
I remember thinking GTA 3 looked realistic then I seen some PC army game around the same time and was sure humanity had peaked lol
They once said virtua fighters graphics were as good as it could get 😂
I still remember this HL2 Demo, remember how my friend just give it to me on cd... this demo water physics.. this gravygun.. this graphics and what u can do in a game before release.. it's probably 1 of the biggest game changers in industry, not just graphics, overall at the time, it's more than crysis for me in 2004, u need to be here for understand that.
I remember a video from the dev how he did this was just making the camera fish eye lens and a bunch of adjustments in post processing, in other words such as bloom, saturation, colors, etc and I was just surprised how "that's just it" he says. Also for those who are in game development for quite awhile, you've probably seen game engine demos that showcase this or even higher quality of realism. This is the first time (as far I have seen) that finally uses those show offs into an actual game which is awesome
Here's the Steam description of the game:
Unrecord is a tactical shooter where players can expect an immersive and narrative experience. Unrecord features complex dialogues, innovative gameplay mechanics, tough moral dilemmas, and a unique shooting system. The storyline in Unrecord can be compared to a detective novel or a thriller. This reminded me of Hardcore Henry. I wish they'd make another one.
This is literally just hardcore Henry lmao

YAAAAAAA
Good art direction and not just the graphics along with the way the camera behaves like a real one is what really sells the realism. Now that is some good work.
As a european, this is how i imagine the average US PE class is
It looked completely real at the start outside, when inside it seemed like a game although still very impressive graphically
i was skeptical until he kicked the door twice...the exact same way. I hope this game delivers.
I still don't believe it
Bruh this is just an animation, cant be gameplay. How is he aiming? What is ammo count? How can you tell health? There is no gameplay ui or mechanics that were shown, this was a common tactic of kickstarters that were scams back in the day, because its much cheaper to pay for a high quality animation that looks like gameplay with qte, than to actually make a game.
I dont think people understand that games like this could have been available years ago, most game devs are just lazy, I myself tried to make a bodycam game in Unity, looked similar to think (but with worst free assets) but really it isn't hard to get the "bodycam" look and weapon animations.
@@greymangaming1877 Dev already posted footage from the Unreal Engine editor window, it is most likely real.
@@Frozander it is very real, there is videos of people spawning in on different parts of the map and firing wildly around with these animations and graphics. I also saw this game years ago when it was being made
It looks so real that it doesn't look real. How often can you say that about games these days? On a side note, I'm curious if it will actually be game play or just one of those decision like games that just use real life footage and the player picks which way to go and everything is per-scripted to happen because that will suck if it does.
I remember saying exactly this but with Mario 64

Unreal engine 5 is nuts and this just proves it. Well done to the developer on the ability to shock at how realistic it looks. Games in the next few years developed with this will be insane.
the leap in the last few years is fucking crazy
Can't wait for the developers to showcase the level where you play as a police officer responding to a mass shooting
This is amazing. The brief was clearly 'we're making a game that feels like an airsoft youtuber video' - nailed it on every point. There's only a few give aways that this isn't video footage. very well done
Those ingame graphics look more realistic than the webcam in the corner XD
I don't care if the game uses lots of setpieces, just the fact that this level of fidelity can be reached by an indie studio is already an achievement.
"He's unarmed?... Ok put the throwdown gun on top of him" 😂
I absolutely love the fact that people still think that this is a fake real life footage and choose to die on that hill.
This is a game with extremely clever usage of the bodycam fisheye effect along with wobbly player camera. If you pay attention through the video, you can see metric ton of graphical issues, ranging from untextured barrels to clipping rocks, shadowless props to funky ragdoll.
lol they can super impose 3d elements onto real life footage, why would they have normal looking 3d game stairs w/ rubble and the hole in the wall but everything else be literally be real life footage.
@@hiddenname7232 There is a resent video of the dev actually noclipping through the maps walls and shit. This isn't a recorded video with 3d elements added.

People saying "This can't be a game bruh ain't no way" bro we're getting old. Technology is out there. Enjoy it rather than being a stick in the mud. Skepticism is fine and all but rewire your pattern recognition to be able to tell the difference between realistic and real then relax about how vocal you think you should be.
Exactly this.
No way this is a game… it looks TOO REAL
Unreal engine 5 gaming
because it isn't, notice how you can clearly tell some elements are 3d and the rest is real life footage? they can add 3d elements to footage maybe using some type of rotoscoping for alternate events to take place.
@@hiddenname7232 Nothing here is real life footage lol. What are you talking about. It's obviously not real. It's photoscanned assets and good lighting, also the camera effect is what sells it. It's very clear that nothing here was recorded footage. Faking it would be harder than just doing it in unreal.
This is so well crafted it makes me question if it’s a movie trying to fool fans who think it’s game or vice versa

i can't fathom the fact that people are actually arguing over this game as being fake or a pre-recorded footage that underwent post-processing and whatnot... Like who give a f**k if this is purely animations or not? As long as we can able to play these kind of games in the future and have fun with it, that's what matters. In fact, we should be glad if it would look like this when the game comes out, regardless of what they've done behind the scenes.
It looks so real that you question if its a game or not. But then there are parts where you're like oh yeah nah that's a game. Like kicking the door in and when he got the speech options at the end. But the core of the graphics are next level good. If this is the future, sign me up.
is this gonna be actual playable or is it gonna be like one of those arcade games where it moves and you shoot

The thing that makes it look fake are the animations. It's crazy how complex the hands movements are. If this is real and it's an actual Fps, it will be amazing.
That headbobbing will someday become a standard in first person games, I'm sure of it.
Based on the description of the game I'm assuming this is just an FMV.
It’s all gameplay. You can control everything there’s a vid on twitter where one of the devs clips around in the environment
You know what is really fascinating. That the camera work and how it is presented do a lot of the lifting, to create the illusion that it is real. There are only a very few hints in the images that point to it being a game. Mostly it's how the photo geometry is rendered. You can see a very matt and rubbery look compared to the rest of the environment on certain small objects and a very small amount of texture blur on some others. Otherwise indistinguishable.
It actually looks like a game where you could rp John Wick
This will see 80 million visual downgrades before it releases. Seems like movement was recorded in real time then sent back through the engine for a re render that probably took hours. OR it was worth buying a 4090

So many people doubted it was an actual game that the developer posted another video with noclip enabled, phasing through walls and objects.
Wow! this Unrecord is incredible. I went to research and probably like you, like your mother and like your brothers, I was fascinated by the incredible graphics and realism of the project, so I had an idea, why don't we mortgage our homes and let's donate in the collective support of this studio that came out of nowhere, with all of its members being anonymous and whose only project on their CV is this one? I'm sure it will be a great release, I don't even doubt that it will be a Playstation 5 exclusive produced by none other than Hideo Kojima (former Capcom employee). The project doesn't have a date, but I expect it to come out with or at least close to the so famous Abandoned that shook the internet recently, or close to the launch of Starfield, which will come out when it's ready.

Its a pre-scanned environment with lighting effects. You can see issues with the water in certain areas.
"this looks lame" bro thought that this is in the middle of the battlefield during ww3
It's amazing!! This looks like a very very enhanced version of ISL and Collaborators work when they tried photorealism on GTA5.
a big part contribute to the realism is the shaky camera and hands holding the gun. we are so used to the static gesture of a traditional FPS game POV.
That is not to say the graphic isnt important here, it is surely doing the most heavy lifting here.
the environment is the easy part actually. Personally, how he holds the gun differently everytime is what puzzles me. (i do have 2k hours in VR)
coz usually even in VR FPS game, the hands holding guns are the same despite that you can move around the gun.
I can’t even believe that the animations are hand animated
This is funny because the studio making this game is French and we learned recently that its CEO is a famous french rapper who pause his music career
No fking way, at this point i can just ride a bike & say its UNreal 5
*[New objective, collect 10 crack pipes]*
You know it’s good when chat is assuming it’s not gameplay
Just wait until the cat girls start looking this real.
Ok Matrix confirmed. Actually WE are in a game
