I'm an ISTJ and bluff and pretense irritate me something fierce! I've never heard or read of Introverted sensing described in such detail like this and very much appreciate you for making this video. Also, now realizing how very Si I am thanking you for being so detailed hahaha, also time has always been in the forefront for me. I've always had a huge fascination with clocks. I have some unique ones around my house, those always catch my eyes!
Your clear and detailed explanations help me sooo much! I've gone from INFP (thought I was an INFP for almost a decade) to INFJ to ISFJ in the last month or so, and your wonderful analyses have helped to significantly solidify my belief that I'm an ISFJ. 😁 But anyways, your explanations are both easy to follow and packed with such precise and meaningful knowledge. Thank you so much for these lovely videos, and I'm looking forward to binge watching your channel! 😆🩷
same lmaoo i had the exact same journey glad I finally dont have to feel like I’m ‘pretending’ to be a type which I often times felt when I was mistyped as INFP/J
Jung makes it very clear in his work that sensation = what is. He states that sensation simply tells you that something is there. Nothing to do with what was there, nor what will be there. Hermann Minkowski broke down the dichotomy of space and time into 2 distinct categories just as Jung did. Myers was wrong about the reasoning behind why the xSxJ types are routinely oriented, though she did capture that trait well. Fortunately the socionists have uncovered the correct reason for this (due to their lack of desire in utilizing intuition aka stubborn/inert use of Ne/Ni in mobilizing/PoLR slot). Introverted Sensation, as Van Der Hoop mentions, is about the comfort of the sensory experience and how that is decided upon by the Si user through the continuous adjustment of said experience. Too many people are under the impression that they can test the past/memory focus of xSxJs and arrive to a conclusion about the types. But because Si has nothing to do with the tradition keeping nature, a lot of people may end up getting mistyped as one. That coupled with the fact that the true explanation for what xSxJ guardians are doing isn't emphasizing the past, which leads to a lot of xSxJs not associating with the type because they don't resonate with the definitions provided for their primary mode of being. They're much more focused on the judgements they're placing on reality. That is the true power of Guardians. The LSE (mbti-ESTJ) with their emphasis on what the best course of Te action is on a case by case basis, while struggling with the utility of new options if they have not seen it. The ESE (mbti-ESFJ) on what they feel would best impact the surrounding of their loved ones, while struggling with how to arrive to new potentialities in that environment to best suit said loved ones. The LSI (mbti-ISTJ) on inspecting the correctness of the structured logic they're inspecting and spotting any and every mistake in reality, while struggling to look at new alternative solutions. The ESI (mbti-ISFJ) on the dangers that lerk around their loved ones to ensure they're not in harms way, while not considering alternatives to the judgments they may have placed on people incorrectly.
What IS only exists because of what WAS. Introverted sensors generally uphold or refer to existing and established systems and structures - they’re present observations but you can’t divorce the fact that what they are presently observing is only observable cause it WAS set in motion on the past!
Correct. And everyone has Ni to a degree. That ties in what WAS to what is. As Minkowski space states it does.@@realSimoneCherie >>>Introverted sensors generally uphold or refer to existing and established systems and structures -- This isn't because of the introverted sensing function. This is because of where intuition is for the xSxJ types (Keirsey calls them Guardians). ESTJ and ESFJ with Ni PoLR keep things as they are, because they are blind to where things are going so it's rather unsettling for them to make drastic changes. ISTJ and ISFJ with Ne PoLR want to keep things as they are because they are blind to the possibilities. >>>You can't divorce the fact that what they are presently observing is only observable because it WAS set in motion on the past! -- Yes you can. They're distinct dichotomies for a reason. What was and what is are not the same thing. Just as what is and what ought to be aren't (David Hume, is/ought fallacy).
Sensing in general (including Si) is looking at what is but Si goes further and "throws on it a luster derived from age-old subjective experience and the still unborn future event" It sees things "as a million year old consciousness might see them." It sees "what they were before their becoming and their passing hence." "He orientates his consciousness in accordance with an archaic reality." "He unconsciously treats reality archaically." These are all Jung's quotes. Si looks at what is, but with "age-old/archaic/million year old/becoming and passing/still unborn future event" glasses on. However, we are talking about two different things if you are using Socionic's definitions while I stick to Jung's. Socionics started with Jung's functions and "changed them beyond recognition." -Augusta. Jung's cognitive functions to Socionics cognitive functions are not a direct conversion (like MBTI -> Enneagram is not a direct conversion.) So there will be differences, and that's why it's good that Socionics' Si is sometimes referred to as "S", Te as "P" etc.to avoid confusion. I've done a couple socionics collabs, and it definitely has its merits.
Another excellent video! It's refreshing to hear Si talked about in a more potitive and nuanced light. So many sources boil it down to a literal strawmen of "past experience" or relate it to details just about everyone of the collective human condition experience. Not sure if this js a controversial subject, but I do believe modern politics and economics to be quite Si-driven. The talk on the Fatalism and sense of hopelessness is pretty much where both sides of the horseshoe sit at this moment in time. You have one side who is clearly stuck in the past and convinced of doomsday, and the other who is running with past trends across the spectrum convinced of doomsday by no change. In both cases, most are recycling the same talking points without much critical thought for cause and effect outside of their subjective interpretation. But on a more positive note with Si, the memories those users are able to sift through are amazing. I never realized my mother's "daydreaming of the amusement park" or "beach" were literal until I got thinking about it one day. She associates her memories of the amusement park as happy and because if that she sits through thos memories or new idea that could create new memories to get to her happy place. It seems as if she can physically see and live in these memories within her mind and she feels sort of peace with it. I't also not sure if anyone else has observed this with Si users, but do they tehd to struggle with depth perception? My mom and manager both struggle with it significantly because they are always on the side of caution. I imagine it's due to no Se in the function stack but I'm curious if anyone else had observed this.
My istj son, age 13, likes the color cyan. He introduced the color to me. He has a pep about him when he sees the color unexpectedly. He seems delighted by the color. I wonder what's going on inside him when he sees cyan. I appreciate and am intrigued by his perspective.
In that first segment, such a fabulous descriptive understanding of Si!!! Let me tell you about the magnet… the thought of its creation, whether real or imagined, the pressure, the accumulation natural elements, the significance to human evolution, the value in industry, the enchantment of children, the magnitude of its strength, could it foster perpetual motion, it’s effectiveness in medicine… it all comes in an instant! And because my Te remains in a demon state (i.e. doubt about what I know and what is even truly known), the Fi invokes emotion, the millions of years of emotion! I might feel very moved over it’s phenomenal properties and the magnificence of it’s uniqueness.
The way Si makes me think more about how I feel about an object rather than the object itself is why I'm terrible at being a video game commentator 😂 I can never get truly invested in what's happening in the game, so as to be more entertaining and drawing in viewers because of my immediate reactions. Instead, I always find myself commenting on how the video game is put together and what I think of the developers, etc. It makes me less of an entertainer and more of an analyst of the game. Too bad lol I wanted to be my own version of Jacksepticeye.
The second safety gets brought up I know I don’t have that function. As a kid I never wanted to wear helmets or seatbelts and tried a lot of risky things. I recently found an accident report from preschool that said I had tried to climb over monkey bars and ended up slipping and slamming my groin against one of them
At 14 minutes, you are describing the relationship I have with my sister (ISFJ) and boyfriend (ISTJ) 😂 but specifically my sister. When you're talking about your ISFJ friend is like you're talking about my sister 😂
ISTJ here - I can tell you from my perspective Si is a 'pipeline' of information that Te NEEDS to communicate. In a similar way that Fi is a reservoir of 'determined values' that Te NEEDS to communicate.
As an ENTP/J tendancies hubby is ISTJ n let me tell u..ITS NOT EASY to find common ground at all. Takes ALOT of work n still its hard. Could u do them in relationships?
Ne is a 'keeping possiblities open' function so my gut says they'd be better off as generalists since Ne is more interested in keeping possibilities open than to advance to an ultimate career goal. That's the main reason I (ENTP) didn't go to college. I knew instinctively that I had a preference for a consistent need to find novel paths so I avoided cementing down a purpose for myself. You're speaking on the INxP's and they're really types that enjoy their research/analysis (INTP) and application to help others (INFP).
Good question! I think it's often presented that way online, but I wouldn't say my reading supports that. Timeless (or its synonyms) was a word associated with Si. Its synonyms "unchanging" and "lasting" were directly used in the Si section. An archetype is defined as a "recurring symbol." In this case I would say a "symbol" is more intuitive, but in this case it is subordinate to the "recurring" traditional Si nature. Si will accept intuitive things provided they are subordinate to tradition. Intuition is oriented around possibilities, and things that are unchanging and recurring are inherently lacking possibilities.

There seems to be some commonalities between Te and Si, at least in terms of how the look outwardly.

That's interesting, I haven't picked up on that, what did you notice specifically?
@@AlexisKingsley there’s an “orderly and structured” vibe to both of them, in my opinion

Hi there! Follow up question. If someone has Si child (3rd function on the stack) do they do better career wise as specialists or generalists?
