Opposition candidate for President of Zanzibar Maalim Seif Sharif Hamad votes after release from prison. Maalim Seif is rearrested the following day. According to opposition sources elections are rigged and marked by irregularities, fake ballot papers, arrests, violence and repression of opposition leadership and supporters. Opposition sources speak of 10 deaths. Empty streets are patrolled by armed masked men dispersing crowds. Foreign journalist arrested. Internet access and access to social media has been limited.
