  • 047 - Ecosystems
    Paul Andersen explains how ecosystems interact with biotic and abiotic factors. He explains and gives examples of food chains and food webs. He shows how limiting factors eventually leads to logistic growth. Real data from Yellowstone Park is used to show how populations interact. He ends the podcast by showing how human impacts can eventually lead to changes within an ecosystem.

    Why is it called 2nd level consumer, if they're on the 3rd level? I know they are the second set of consumers but the words "2nd level" and "3rd level" being thrown around confuses me .-.

    • @splodinatekabloominate846
      @splodinatekabloominate846 6 лет назад +1

      Because the first level is not a consumer of other organisms; they are producers because they convert abiotic elements to usable energy

    you are right lets respect the ecosystem and do not distrupts them because if we did that food chains would be out of balance and animals could be endangered. You see people just throw out their trash and when animals think it was food they would eat it and die. Also people build roads and homes in their environment and then when animals cross the road they'll get hit. Lets think before we do it. Thank You!:)

    The entire world has less animals in it than yesterday and tomorrow less and this path will continue until ecological collapse then the world will be forced to take notice. This is the unromanticized reality. Covid 19 has accelerated this process as animals are a food resource and this will carry on until ecological collapse. No matter what we say and what we do this trajectory has carried and will carry on: as a species humans are just not intelligent enough to rectify this issue at the present time. Reality can be very different from are myopic expectations. Equalibram will be obtained regardless of human opinion and this my well not be to Human advantage as we see it.
