    Today on the channel, we are checking out Pink Floyd with a video of "Another Brick In The Wall." I have never seen this video but it was very prophetic in many ways! It showed how some institutions expect you to fit into a mold and how society can shape our behavior to act a certain way! Very interesting concepts and so true in many ways! Hope you enjoy! #reaction #pinkfloyd #pinkfloydreaction #anotherbrickinthewall #davidgilmour #comfortablynumb #musicreactions

    This is a cut from the movie of The Wall, which was supposed to substitute for the elaborate stage show, since they only did, like, ten performances around Europe. This album is a rock opera, with a full story cycle about the protagonist "Pink", with too many themes to easily recount.
    This was my senior class theme song for Homecoming, Prom, and Graduation.

    This is actually taken straight from the movie, The Wall. The kid writing poems is supposed to represent the main character, whose name is Pink Floyd. He ends up being a dysfunctional rock star who lost his dad in WWII and had major issues dealing with life. The wall represents the mental wall that he built between himself and society. You might recognize the poem. It's some of the lyrics to Money.

  • @firedoc5
    @firedoc5 2 дня назад +8

    YES!!! This video was made by using footage from the film "The Wall". The poem the kid was writing is actually the lyrics to Pink Floyd's song "Money" from the Dark Side of the Moon album. When this came out, I was 14. The first time hearing it was on the juke box in the pool hall, and when one of my buds said he had the album, we went to his house and jammed to it. You nailed the meaning of the song, so I won't get into the details. Both my parents were educators starting in the mid-60's, with my mother teaching a newer form for the time of addressing learning disabilities such as dyslexia. Anyway....after watching the movie, you'll understand the album even more.

  • @lalapo5304
    @lalapo5304 2 дня назад +9

    To understand this album, you have to listen to the whole thing, from start to finish. It has a timeline, and explains how a boy goes from losing his father in the war, to being told what to think by the meat grinder education system, on to adulthood where he meets fame, substance abuse, and mental illness, to ultimately judging himself. Trust me, you will have learned some things by the time you finish listening to it.

    This song is very thought provocative. The video footage complements the song and makes it even more thought provocative. Of all the reactions I've seen to this song, every one gets the experience differently but, in the end everyone gets to the same conclusion. That is what makes us individuals, not computerized robots.
    I was born in the 60's and the public schools in Portugal did function like this (except for the school uniform). Bodily punishment was allowed as was sitting in the corner with your back towards the classroom (no pointy dunce hat), no playground time or not going to the toilet. Some teachers were quite vicious with the punishment applied.

    This was the Christmas number 1 in the UK in 1979. The teaching unions wanted it banned because of its lyrical content. The imagery is from the movie version of The Wall. In the wake of WWII, countries were in a rush to produce the highest science minds as we moved into the nuclear age. Most governments began to tailor their educational models to ensure an emphasis in mathematics and science, especially in the top private schools. This led to the degradation of the arts, homemaking and shop being given equal emphasis, especially as budgets became more restrained. Roger Waters' recollection of this period is loosely the inspiration for the subject of the film. The feeling that education favored things that were necessary for life, as opposed to what we live life for, would explode in the music and counter cultural movement of the 60s.

    You should watch the movie start to finish and the album will be come a lot clearer although the album and the movie soundtrack do not match up where the train was in this it is a helicopter on the album LOL

    its not exactly a music video - it came STRAIGHT from the movie !! ..... if you haven't seen the movie - you've been living under a rock for the last 40 years

    Everybody misses the double negative. ''We don't need no education'' translates to ''We do need education''.

    Back in the day , if you were out of line the teacher would smack your hand with the ruler, this was just one of the things they did back then. There is a part 2 and a part 3 of this song.

      Been a long long time since I heard the whole song, and the last time I heard it I did 7 hits of acid, so anyway there are 3 parts.

    That little intro is the song in the album just before another brick in the Wall part 2 called "the happiest Days of our lives"! It's I guess kind of a buildup to the next song but this video was taken directly from the movie "The Wall" that was released in theaters in August of 1982.

    It's easier to understand this video if you watch the movie The Wall or listen the the album all the way through. It's a concept album. Listening to the other songs will give you some point of reference to what's going on. Both the movie and the album are great.
