Indonesian and Malaysian language which is called bhahsha ( sounds like hindi word for language ) has many words from odiya language . You mentioned about Rajendra Chola but this is my guess that Kalinga kings reached there before Chola. Indians are still called kalings in Malaysia .

Neighboring the Mauryan Empire was the Kingdom of Kalingga, which was a Feudal Republic located on the coast of the Indian state (now Odisha)
There was a war between the Maurya and Kalingga Kingdoms in 265 or 263 BC. The origin of the Kalinga war is unclear. Possibly due to the escape of Ashoka's treacherous brother in Maurya who fled and obtained asylum from the Kalingga Kingdom. Then the Maurya King, Emperor Ashoka asked the Kalingga Kingdom to submit to his rule. Kalinga refuses Ashoka's request. Ashoka gets angry and sends his soldiers to attack Kalinga. In the first attack, Maurya's troops lost against Kalingga. Ashoka is stunned by this loss. Then he carried out another attack on a massive scale which was unprecedented in Indian History up to that time. Kalinga desperately fights. But the number of opponents is not commensurate. Kalinga fell and the entire territory of Kalinga was looted and destroyed.
Many refugees from Kalingga to countries in Southeast Asia, including the archipelago. The sailors of Sadhabas (Sadhavas - Sacred Abodes) led their flight in search of areas to settle down. One of them is on the island of Java and the island of Muria
Hundreds of years later, the Kalingga Indian refugees have settled on the island of Java. Including settling on the island of Muria. Before the island or mountain called Muria, among the Indian immigrants it was successful to establish a small kingdom in the land of Java. It is estimated that the Kalingga Kingdom emerged in the 5th century AD (jepara.go.id). Archaeological evidence in the 7th century AD appears Kalingga Kingdom (Holing, Dwa Patan or Dupo) on the north coast of Central Java. News of the whereabouts of Kalingga (Ho-ling) can be obtained from news originating from the Tang Dynasty and I-Tsing records.
