  • It's hard to believe I've had the M-Audio Hammer 88 Pro for over 2 years now! This has and still is an incredible weighted controller and in this video I walk through my 2 year review of the Hammer 88 Pro and talk about how I've used it, the things I like, and some of the things I don't like.
Overall the M Audio Hammer 88 Pro has been a perfect fit into my studio and has even performed well live when I've used it!

Curious who makes the action; very happy there's NINE faders like my old Keystation Pro 88, great for organ drawbars - keyboard companies usually only provide eight...

M-Audio gear has always been good bang reasonably priced gear and I've used a lot of it over the years in doing audio.

I'll be interested to hear if/when you're able to find out what's going on with the 2nd row of pads. I've got an Oyxgen Pro 61 and am looking for an 88 key replacement. The Hammer Pro is at the top of my list but I'm holding off until I watch your reviews of the new keyboards you have coming in.

I wish you could do a video on using the faders to control midi cc data for spitfire strings for volume, vibrato etc . That would be a tremendous help for me but im sure others have the same need i love my Hammer 88 pro. You are the only one making these great videos and the reason i bought mine and subscribed to your channel

I have the M-Audio Oxygen Pro 49 and the Pro Mini. I find the pads on the Pro mini having better response and I can use 2 fingers per pad for fingerdrumming. The Pro 49 pads need more pressure and they also miss notes sometimes.

Thanks Douglas. Your videos about the Hammer 88 Pro have been really helpful. One thing which baffles me is if there is a way for the Preset you set/select to be the "start-up" Preset (I use preset 9 for controlling virtual instruments). Every time I power on the keyboardx, it goes back to Preset MPC PI and I need to re-select my customer preset. I'm getting no answer from M-Audio.

For pads on any controller, checking piano roll would show which notes they are producing. So, maybe setting the pads to a different range of keys would solve the problem. Also, not all drums plug-ins would use same piano keys range for drum sounds.

I have a issue with the last two keys, they get sticked down and i have to pull them up. I don't know if it is adjust for them or is a construction problem

A lot of companies make their hammer action unrealistically heavy m audio is perfect .

Beautiful playing, I'm definitely getting a key click through my cans though... Sounds like a brush on snare. Maybe it's just youtube sound being kak?

Hi, where did you get the software editor from? I can't find it on the internet and M-Audio doesn't provide it on their website. Can you send me a copy of the installation file via e-mail?

Thanks for this updated review. Can you assign the faders to MIDI control/cc's for Virtual Instruments in the DAW? Looking to replace a wonky Korg Nano control and an old failing Roland with one solution if possible.

How heavy is the action? I got a Studiologic Studio88 and the keys are too heavy for me and they pop back up a bit sluggishy. I couldn't find a Hammer 88 or 88Pro to try in Guitar Center but I liked the action on the Williams Allegro III and the Nord Stage 3. Lighter but still full-weighted. Is it simalar to those? THANKS!!

Pardon my ignorance, but does the keyboard come with outboard speakers that you could just play piano without a compute? Or do you need montiors and a compute to play it?

It's strictly a MIDI controller. No speakers or built-in sounds.

How is the Hammer 88 Pro keybed compared to Roland A-88 MKII ? How is its reliability ? between the two what would you choose ?

    • @tuneunleashed
      @tuneunleashed 8 месяцев назад +1

After playing the two I would go with M Audio Hammer 88 Pro. The response of the keybed is so much better than the Roland A88 MK2. The only thing the MK2 has over the M Audio is Midi 2.0 but again it is really standard at the moment. The M Audio in my opinion is the best midi controller on the market hands down!

@@BrentLeVasseur it’s pretty quiet for me because I’m a soft player more into Neo Soul and Jazz so it won’t wear out as quick it depends on the type of player you are.

I guess it depends on how hard you play. 😂 They do have a thump to them, but I’ve never played a keyboard that didn’t have some level of click or thump and I don’t think it’s too bad on this.

Unfortunately I’m waiting on a replacement for mine as there were random notes that would stick after letting go of the key. Other than that it’s amazing for me.

hello friend, in case it helps you, I had the maudio 88 pro, and I had the same problem, and I have to tell you that it is not a keyboard problem, you have to disable the keyboard midi outputs in your daw. I solve it. I hope it works for you, sorry to tell you that replacing the keyboard with a new one does not work, it will do the same thing again.
