I've been listening to Kpop for years and after a while they all start to sound and look the same to me. The same recycled songs, just diff beats. XG hits different for me. Yes, I know they're not Kpop per se but their distinctive sounds, style, and production always stand out from the rest. XG can do Kpop, but Kpop cannot do XG. That's just facts.
From a recent interview, they don’t consider themself under any genre. They take parts from every genre and that’s why they’re X-Pop. You’re right, K-pop recycles their music, so that no one artist can be bigger than the label. They use the artist to make millions and pay them less than they deserve. That’s one reason why I don’t listen to K-Pop. Simon seems to be a lot better CEO than the Korean labels. He seems to care about the girls like they’re his daughters. They put money into the girls.

Hello Sami, I just wanted to let you know that on the chorus the vocalist all three are taking turns singing it, Hinata, Chisa & Juria and the howl that is in the chorus is done by all of the girls they each take a turn doing the howl but what is amazing the howl sounds like only one person is doing all of them because it sounds exactly alike! When I tell you they live up to their name extraordinary girls.... Because they're flexibility with music is simply out of this world. So far you've only heard their raps but all of them can sing and dance. They also have dance videos call xmoves where they show their dancing ability and they also have choreography videos for most of their songs to show the dance moves from the videos! If you know or get to watch Michael Jackson Earth MV song, this is based on that. Hence the MJ references. The chorus gets me goosebumps all the time. The first scene of the chorus with Cocona in the hurricane wind is exactly like Earth song scene with MJ.

XGALX was founded to create XG and is their only artist/group 🙂 I think you might've heard YG being associated with XG because YG leased XGALX some studio space while they were getting set up. The Japanese production company AVEX financed the creation of XGALX and as such have stakes in the company, but they have no input on the day-to-day workings of the label at all.
I don't think YG or YG Japan has any stake in XG. From what I understand YG just let XGALX use some studio space for them to workout of until their main offices were completed.
