Short and sweet is fine by me! My mom is 86 years old. Do you still run co2 on this aquarium? Maybe try adding some anubias nana petite plants. They stay small and will not block the view of the fish. I rubberband them to lava rocks. I am about to give up on java ferns -- they always get those black spots/areas and look bad.
I do run CO2 on thIs tank, although the same plants do reasonably well without CO2 in other aquariums. Thanks for the tip. I do have some Nana. I am getting in the habit of cutting sections of the plants back when they get too thick and tall and this seems to be working out.all my plants get weekly DIY nutrienT dosing
