This is flight 22 of 33 from my recent trip where I flew around the world. At the end of September through the beginning of October, I set out to fly around the Earth, and after 16 days, 13 airlines, 33 flights, and over 38,000 miles, I landed back in Kansas City, Missouri after visiting 13 different countries. Over the next 4 weeks I'll be posting these flights in order, so you too can take this incredible journey, exactly as I did! The flights will be posted every Monday, Wednesday, and Saturday until all 33 flights are live! So, check back three times every week to take this incredible journey with me! Nice scenic departure, and the sunlight reflecting off the cloud deck was an added bonus. Also for a turbulent short final, the landing was pretty nice!
Yes, these flights do compete directly with Japan's extensive high speed rial network, but considering Japan has 3x the population of California in an area smaller than the state of California, it works. ANA even used to operate 747-400D's on these routes with over 560 seats.
Stunning takeoff! A bit cloudy during the first part of the flight, and then an amazing decent and landing! No inflight snacks/drinks aboard this flight? Thanks for another great video!👍
They did serve drinks, but I didn't get any. When I'm trying to film a flight that transitions from day to night, it's extremely difficult to get the camera re-focused if you lose focus for any reason. So, because the service was taking place right during the transition from day to night, I elected to just keep filming and not get anything.
Beautiful take off. @01:23:20 The CA said it was 27c outside -- I remember thinking winter would NEVER arrive this year 🥵🔥 Hope you had some time to hang around Hiroshima: it's a beautiful city
Unfortunately I didn't have much time in Hiroshima. I would love to come back some day and actually spend time there. This trip, was pretty much strictly "business." As much as my inner wanderlust wants me to stay in all of these places, I ultimately pay for all of these flights out of my own pocket, and I run this channel as a business now. And every extra night I'm on the road is another hotel expense. And behind airfare, hotels are my second largest expense every year. So I generally try to fit in as much flying every day as possible as having less nights in hotels every year is the easiest way for me to limit my expenses. That's why this trip had 32 flights over a 14 day period. Some day I'll visit Japan and actually spend a good amount of time there. For now though, with the exception of Osaka (I had some time there last year on a trip) I really haven't gotten to explore much of Japan aside from the areas right around the airports.
Everything about this video was beautiful, the scenery around Hiroshima, the sky shortly after takeoff, the night flying over Tokyo, even the 767 you were on! I wish I could do what you do, how do you afford it?
I'm glad you enjoyed it my friend. As for how I afford it, it's kind of a long story so I'll try to give you the brief version. I started this channel almost 10 years ago now. At the time I was working for Envoy Air (American Airlines) and I had flight benefits. I was flying a lot since I could do it for free so I started to film some of the takeoffs and landings. However, it wasn't long after I started the channel that I switched jobs and started working as an aircraft rescue firefighter instead. I made more money doing that, but I lost my flight benefits. So I started the channel in June of 2015, and then in January of 2106 is when I switched jobs. Since then, I have paid for everything you see on here out of my own pocket. I've never had flight benefits again, and I don't have a relative who has them and I just use them. I pay everything you see on here out of my own pocket and I am just a regular passenger. Now, for years (2015-2019) I did not make a single penny of any video I'd ever posted. Even when the channel got big enough for me to apply for the RUclips Partnership Program, which was in 2018, it then took RUclips over a year to review and approve my channel to receive ad revenues. So I posted videos for over 5 years before I got my first ad revenues check. That first check came in September of 2019 after I'd taken American's final MD-80 flight. That flight, coupled with an emergency landing I had on that same trip were the two videos that really helped the channel gain steam. Those two videos going "viral" propelled my channel into more people's suggested videos and that month I got a whopping $139.00 in ad revenues. So, as you can see... Even when I first started making a little bit, it wasn't much. So from 2019-2020, I was making small bits here and there to help cover costs, but I was still pumping a lot of my own disposable income into ti all to keep things rolling. Then Covid hit... And your initial thought would likely be that Covid must've been bad for my channel. After all an aviation channel is at heart in the "travel" category and the "travel" channels on RUclips were adversely effected by Covid because... Well... No one could make travel content because the world was shut down. However... My channel thrived during the worst of Covid. All of my statistics skyrocketed from March 2020 through 2021. And this happened for one reason... My wife and I were expecting our first child in April of 2020. Right when the US and the rest of the world shut down. So, I had incredible coincidental luck of basically getting a 9 month head start on Covid. I didn't know Covid was coming and I didn't know the world was going to shut down, but I knew a baby was coming. And I knew the I was not going to have the time or energy to fly like I normally did after she was born. So for 9 months I was working like crazy to film a ton of content ahead to time, so I'd be able to not fly for months after my daughter was born, but still be able to post content every day. So when the world shut down, and no one would film or post new travel related content, I was still posting. I filmed over a years worth of content leading up to my daughters birth, and because of that, I never once missed an upload during Covid, even though I didn't step on a plane for months. I had this crazy coincidence happen that allowed me to basically be the only aviation channel not effected by Covid restrictions. And during that 1.5 year span when I was posting but no one else was... My channel exploded and grew to the point where I was not just making some money here and there. I was making enough money to actually quit my job and run this channel full time. In January of 2022, I left my job as a firefighter and started running the channel full time. So it took about 7 years of grinding and hard work... And a lot of my own money haha. And then it took a crazy series of events and coincidences, but eventually the channel grew to the point where it now pays me to do this. So ultimately, after all these years, I can afford to fly like this thanks to you and everyone else who watches and helps support the channel. But it's only been relatively recent that has been the case. So thanks for watching my friend. I really do appreciate it. Because without you and everyone else taking the time to watch, I wouldn't be able to do this at the level I do and I don't take it for granted.
@@sla31 That is probably the best in depth description of how to get an aviation channel going. I appreciate that. I am constantly on the lookout for ideas on expanding my channel, but it's tough. Like yourself, I have a family to look after, and can't seem to find the time to fly. I also do a lot of plane spotting, however, my airport is difficult to film at. I really wish I could do what you do, but it would take quite a bit of money and a drastic lifestyle change. Hopefully here soon, with some planning, I can get it going again. Thank you for your story and insight. Your content is always top quality!❤
@@502Aviation you never know what'll happen my friend. I thought I was at the point where I was going to have to scale back the channel because we were starting a family, and lo and behold that coincided with the exact thing that propelled the channel to the point I could then choose whether to do it full time or not. I never thought it'd be anything more than an expensive hobby and look what happened. You never know! Anyway, I'm glad you enjoy the videos my friend. Thanks for being a member of the community here.
Japan is indeed a beautiful country. It's has quickly become one of my favorite places to visit and film in. And no, I am always up when flying. I'm pretty good at it all now, but there's one thing I haven't ever mastered, and that's the art of holding the camera while sleeping 😂. Until I can figure that out, napping isn't an option 😂.
And there he goes on the next exciting leg of his Amazing Race around the world!! I had no idea that the area around Hiroshima was so hilly and rugged. That took me by complete surprise. I just assumed it was all flat land. Wow, was I wrong. Yep, that was Godzilla there trashing Tokyo. :) So... the BIG news on General Hospital this week was Ava Jerome was cleared of all charges of pushing Kristina out of the hotel window, killing her unborn surrogate baby. Come on. They can't send Ava Jerome to jail. She's too popular a character on the show! But Kristina is none too happy about the verdict and he's asked her Uncle Sonny to take matters into his own hands. Anyhow, we've reached the earliest sunset of the year at 4:17 PM.
Do you have any videos of these planes? I couldn't find them if you do. Boeing 757-300 Boeing 767-400ER Boeing 787-10 Dreamliner Airbus A330-900 Embraer E195-E2
757-300, 767-400, and A330-900 yes. 787-10 and E195-E2, no. Try searching the aircraft type with my channel's tag like this "sla31 757-300" or "sla31 767-400" and they should be the first ones to list.
Does anyone know what the name of the First Airport is from take off please as HIJ and HND Mean absolutely nothing to Me I don't understand d why You just don't name the Airports properly for People like Me who know there Planes but Not Airports. I want to find it on My Flight Similator. Thanks.
I do, just not in the title... All of that info is listed in the description with the corresponding code. And there's a good reason why I don't put it in the title. RUclips limits titles to 100 characters, which means you have to be selective what you put there. There's a lot of info I need to convey in the titles and out of all the info I have to give out, the airports are the easiest to abbreviate because they have an internationally accepted and recognized three letter code that never changes, no matter what country it is in or what language is spoken there. In this case the two airports are Hiroshima Airport in Hiroshima, Japan and Haneda Airport in Tokyo, Japan. If I changed the title to add their full names I'd have to abbreviate every other part of the title and I'd just barely fit it all in. It's be "[4K] - Full Flight - JAL - B7673 - Hiroshima Airport to Haneda Airport - JA615J - JL262 - IFS 951." And doing that is just a whole bunch of nonsense that almost no-one would understand. The way I do it is far better, which is why I do it that way. You know, I have figured out some of the best ways to do this after posting these videos for 10 years now. That said, I understand that not everyone knows every airport code in the world off the top of their head. Which is why I put that info in the description (that has a 5,000 character limit) with the information on the airport listed with the corresponding code right next to it. I also put far more info in my descriptions than pretty much any other aviation channel out there. I try to give everyone all of the info they may want so they don't have to wait for me to reply. And this is actually detrimental to my video's performance... RUclips's algorithm uses video engagement as a major metric on whether or not a video gets pushed to more viewers. That includes comments. Which is why so many creators don't put much into video descriptions. It's in our best interest to limit information so more people comment, but I don't do that. I give tons of info in the description because making people comment and wait for info simply because it'll help push my video more isn't right. So, chances are if you ever have a question about the statistics or specific info for a flight you see on here, it'll be in description. Thanks for watching my friend.
Yes, actually haha. I do not chase specific planes. It is far too difficult and expensive. Not only do you not know what routes a plane is going to operate until 24ish hours beforehand, they often change and swap out with other planes even at the last minute. Trying to track down and fly specific planes requires buying very expensive last minute tickets, and then 50% of the time you end up getting a different plane anyway. I run this channel by myself and I pay for everything myself. I cannot afford to chase specific liveries, tail numbers, etc.
@@HEFBMS I can search for specific words or phrases in my RUclips Studio and I put the registration in every video title, so I can filter a specific registration pretty quickly.
