I think i'm with you on that, not sure still! some aspects I go : yessss and some not so much. Plus I love the original art work, I think there is much to be read in the original perspective.
I'd still consider myself a Tarot rookie, mostly using RWS and RWS knockoffs, not yet ready to transition to Thoth. Because the Thoth was so beautifully made artistically, I'm unsure if I'll have a need for the Millennium Thoth. I feel like it makes these images into more literal scenarios. I don't know what my plan is on getting this deck or not.
Thanks so much for making this side by side comparison, but the Millennium edition very much comes off like a cheap version of the Thoth to me. So much symbolism and energy has been lost, and the archetypes which always seemed beyond-the-physical are now represented by actual people, which I think makes them very mundane. Part of the charm of the Thoth is that it's not easy to visualize anyone or anything in the real world. It exists in the fabric of the universe, or in our minds. I believe making everything more realistic also makes this deck less useful.
I couldn't agree more! You have totally nailed it, depicting more realistically takes away from the poetry of life in the deck! Totally get it, and sometimes leaving some of the symbology hidden is indeed a good thing, you see it when you need to, I am thinking of the high priestess card in particular. Thank you for you keen observation and spot on comment.
I was looking exactly for this comparison. Thank you so much for making this video!
Thank you ! Delighted it was what you were looking for 👍
Thank you. I’ve been reading Thoth for forty seven years and wasn’t sure I’d like it. Still not sure

Yes it loses something in the art

Completely understand what you are saying. The thoth is so rich!, is there a reaason to want it so literal!?! have fun on your journey
Thank you!
Thank you very much, I have send after the original one and looks forward to get it . Maybe I also take the Millennium. Have a wonderful day ❤.
Thanks, you too!
Umm, the seven of disks having jupiter icons has thrown me off of this one, but I am interested still, does it get in anyone's way?
I think because every minor card has those reference it doesn’t get in my way but I get that if astrology is not relevant to you it may feel limiting
