You can always switch the taller white bookshelves with the smaller white shelf that you want a cushion for... that way your bulletin board isn’t covered up, and it can help form a little bit of a separation for the cute library! Love your series every year, I’ll be a teacher once I graduate college in 2024!!! You make me excited to teach!!!
Your clarion is looking great! I retired in May. I get so sentimental when I watch all the teacher bloggers set up their rooms. I miss doing that! Maybe when the world has healed I’ll offer to help teachers setup their rooms. 😷😒
+Early EDventures Mrs. Shelley , I'd just thought I'd share something with you that one of My SPED Teachers from High School taught me and it goes a little something like this . " It's better to have it and not need it than to need it and not have it . " It's better to go ahead and jump ahead for when things do get better and you and all of your students get back to being in the classroom . #KeepLookingUp - Dwight
The blue and green makes my heart so happy! I love your colors and classroom setup. I'm currently working in my 1st grade classroom and it is a challenge to say the least lol.
Hi Shelley, loving this year's set up! I don't know how you're working with things in front of your whiteboard, as I use it ALL. THE. TIME. But maybe just cause drawing and writing helps me remember as a visual learner :P Maybe with your mini 'teacher desk' *for now*, you could use one of the flower desks with a bigger piece of wood on top, until you get around to swapping out the furniture you don't need/want with your class- that way it's one piece of wood which could be transformed into a bulletin board or a cover for pieces you don't want the kids to have access to in future, rather than a whole desk which you might not be able to have when they allow kiddos to return. Much hugs to you, Hubby, Baby, and Doggies!
Your room looks like it's going to be super cute and functional! I love the burlap boarder for the wow work wall. I'm a grad student in a teacher cert. program and I'm seriously so exciting to eventually set up a classroom (: Hopefully by this time next year if Covid doesn't prevent my endorsement tests and what not.
Love watching these classroom setup video. Seeing your classroom come along are amazing to watch. Its is so sad seeing what the school year has to come too. I hope that soon it will change to going back to school. Also love the colors in your classroom it looks so bright. Can’t wait to follow your school year this year!
I make vinyl decals all the time and the best way to remove permanent vinyl is with a razor blade to take of the vinyl itself and goo gone to remove the adhesive residue leftover!
For the student work wall, I use bulldog or foldback clips stuck on the board with flat thumbtacks. Then I just have to push on the top to release and replace papers. I usually stick the students' names on the front of the clip as well so everything is nice and labelled.
Hey, Shelley!! Oh my gosh! I am in serious love with the rug you got for your library! So pretty!! Your Keriug looks so good in the little space below the top cabinets especially with having butcher block counter!! So cute! 😍Oooohhhh! You should get some sort of a fake plant to go in there as well! Can’t wait to see your stage!! ❤️Aaron
Hi Aaron!! I don't say this enough, but thank you so much for all your support!! I look forward to your comments on every video I post! I hope all is well with you
For the busted drawer in the blue and green supply cart, rotate it in backwards! That’s what I did haha it’s missing the knob but at least it’s not showing the hole! :)
It's hilarious to me watching these videos because I am the same way -- I spend a lot of time staring at my stuff, moving furniture and moving it again because it didn't work where I thought it should go the first time :) I'm glad you're setting up as if things will be normal because then when you ARE back in person, you won't be scrambling. I haven't been into either of my rooms yet. I'm sad because I'm sure they won't allow me to have my flexible seating stuff out anymore and that's just a bummer :( I have NEVER taught in rows and I hate the idea that I might have to do that now.
I’m a student and I’m going back on 13th of August for one day and then the Monday after I’m back in full time in the classroom. Which I’m quite scared and anxious because I have to go into 7 different classes, 7 different teachers and 7 classes with different people.
My high school is going back, but we are being delayed a week or so later than usually. They have sent out one email about it. They will have staff and students follow all CDC guild lines. I don’t know if I agree with going back. I don’t think it’s safe to go back yet.
its better to be over prepared then not be ready at all. you never know what's going to happen in the next couple of months. at least being in the classroom gives you the routine of being back in the classroom. that way your not scrambling at the last minute trying to get everything done.
Our teachers will be allowed to have class libraries they will just have to follow a quarantine scheduling system. If kids touch a book they have to put in book box. Upon returning, books will go in a quarantine box for 4 days. After 4 days the teacher can return to class library. I’m a librarian and we’re having to take books to the class for checkout and quarantine the same with returned books. No kids allowed in school library for a while.
I accidentally did that with my vinyl last year. I had to use the little scrappy thingy from cricut and hand scrape at it. It took me like 3 hours over the course of several days. I also had thinner letters so it would just break constantly so I couldn't just pull it off.
I think you could make more room in the classroom by getting rid of the green reading chairs. I think because of COVID it will be hard to keep track of if you’ve wiped them down or what not between each kid who sits in it and being second graders they might be more tempted to sit in it for a second. Also if they aren’t easy to wipe down they might be hard to keep clean with the wild time we have going on. Just my opinion I do love your channel 😊
Early EDventures Oh then definitely I thought you were meaning no notice tomorrow kids will be back but with social distancing. Just a misunderstanding😊 Thanks for the reply 💜
@earlyedventures I know the desk looked old but you really didn’t have to get rid of it a teacher I know had her desk behind her small group table that way she would have more room for her desk area
You should try using a clothing steamer to remove the vinyl before using goo gone. I had a teacher once who had a ruined white board from using goo gone. But maybe she just messed up somehow lol
For removing the vinyl try a hair dryer to heat up the glue on the bavk then you sould be able to peel it off then yes goo gone for the residue left behind
@@EarlyEDventures Yes!!! I wish they would've opened it here in town. But It is nice to not have to drive to Roseville~ AND...very exciting you are teaching 2nd. I taught 2nd for 6 years and loved it. I've been in Kinder now for 10 and plan to stay there until I retire!!!

She explained all of that in the video, did you watch it? Her district is not returning yet, they are doing virtual. She is just trying to get everything ready in case things do go back to normal. That way she won’t have to prepare everything in like a day. It will be easier to make small changes when they do return if necessary.
What are you going to do with the desks if you can’t have groups . I know you are setting it up like it’s normal since you aren’t going back but if you do go back just wondering what you will do to social distance the desks
I think she said before if they go back she'll only have half the class at a time so they will have 3 at a group of 6 instead of actually having 6 students sitting there.
I am a kindergarten teacher and had my 4th baby at the end of March. I am also nursing. Do you plan to have a pumping schedule while at work? We will be back in the classroom next week so long as all goes well (I teach in Indiana). I want so much to continue to nurse/pump. But this is the first baby I have worked with. The other three I was not yet a teacher when I had them. Just looking for suggestions from other breastfeeding mommas!!
Yes I will be pumping in the classroom. To be honest, if we were going back in person I was going to start only nursing morning and night because pumping with students would have been way too stressful!
Early EDventures most of my other teacher friends would just pump when they had a prep time. Maybe while kids are at specials or during recesses. Not sure how my schedule will differ with new schedules due to COVID, we will see! So hard because I loved nursing my babies!
Don’t box up all the chapter books!!!! Obviously there are a lot of books for 6th grade kiddos that won’t work for 2nd grade but if you have low level chapter books, 2nd grade is the perfect time to transition to chapter books. Maybe put them away but make them still be accessible for higher level readers?
I know! So interesting to see! Let’s hope this doesn’t happen at my very first school I teach at in 5 years, beside I graduated HS back in February, and are skipping this year for college for COVID, and on the other hand, I am the 2nd and 3rd grade Lifegroup Leader at my church’s 2nd campus! I definitely LOVE working with this group of kids! And 3rd grade is my dream grade! But if I had that on a single bulletin board, I will immediently ask my principal and custodian to take it down and move it somewhere else in the room! Lol 🤣🤣🤣
Will you even be able to have a small group?? We can’t even have partners no groups at all. I know you might not know yet but is that just for wayyyy down the road. I guess my point is that if you need space for something else could probably do it for now
