"cook the dice steak" doesn't mean it was supposed to be dice. Dicing is a way of cutting food. It makes more sense to interpret the translation as "cook the diced steak"
I was thinking this same thing!! I was like there’s no way that could be a dice! Maybe they meant diced steak?
Saikoro Steak is an actual dish name that translates to Dice Steak (as in the kind you roll) because the meat is cut into small cubes that resemble dice.
Its Japanese wordplay, try not to think too hard about it because it doesn't translate directly to English in a way that would make sense and still be funny in the context given.
Saikoro: Steaks Diced Twice
I'm so glad you brought up the "Doh I missed"
Same, I've been confused by that line for YEARS, had no idea it was German until now.
It will always be "doh I missed" in my heart.
They didn't mention it in this video, but Wario also has lines of "jawohl" ("yes" or "hooray") and "ausgezeichnet" ("excellent!"). The audio quality is poor though, so the last one just kind of sounds like a weird laugh to most listeners.
I can never watch chuggaaconroy the same way again...
Wario: Doh I missed
Mario party can't ruin friendships if you don't have any friends to play it with.
4 is the only one i own. Its fun. Even if it i only ever played it with my sister and one friend. No more than that were ever interested. Goldeneye 64 however i played with 4 players many MANY times.
That genius you revolutionary twat
I could never convince my friends for Mario Party anyway, so we always went with Mario Kart
Modern problems require modern solutions
10 Million Subscribers With No Videos yay your a slitly more genius twat
5:58 *Explosive laughter in the distance*
It's a bit funny that as a kid, when I was hyped for Sunshine, I had theorised that Shadow Mario was a Koopa Kid from Mario Party. I remember how happy I was when I saw that I was right, kinda haha!
It's actually "So ein mist!" ?!. I'll never be able to look at my childhood the same.
I always knew it was "So ein Mist", maybe cause I natively speak German xD
I actually had a discussion with someone some time ago about this.
... Heh, now I'm 10€ richer. :)
I FRIGGIN' KNEW IT! Half an hour on this discussion, only to find out I was actually right! Fk yeah.
I knew "d'oh I missed" just didn't sound right... that's clearly an s at the start.
It's weird just how many Mario Party clips can be recognized from TRG
Wait which ones?
Linkthehero5555 Plays damn I remember watching their MP1 videos when they came out. Wasn’t Mario Party 1 the first game they played on that channel?
@@sonicrose8430, yep. According to Chugga it was picked specifically for the potential for much frustration. Also, glad to know I wasn't the only one who thought the character choices looked familiar.
I reconized those Mario Party 3 and 6 clips.
Mario party.
A wonderful little game that can ruin friendships
Your "So ein Mist" was pretty good.
Altough it was also very funny.
7:09 No wonder Bowser never tries to kidnap Daisy. She just Team Rocket'd him with a slap.
Dazz's voice is so relaxing😂
7:15
Oh, THAT'S why some people draw Daisy with dark skin.
I've always wondered.
I'm really hoping for a new Super Mario Party but biggers boards, newer minigames but less motion controls, more items to keep it interesting and being able to play it in handheld mode
Maybe customizable games where you can choose star costs, items, minigames etc
The animations were absolutely amazing in SMP1 so I'm hoping they keep that style
The boards aren't that bad because the max dice roll is 6.
However I was really disappointed with the fact that there is no options menu. Being able to turn off specific bonus stars (or even just bonus stars in general, allies, special dice blocks, would've been really nice. Allies can be really op and are all up to chance at the beginning of the game, the bonus stars in this are basically complete chance because every bonus star as an opposite, e.g. Slowpoke: person who traveled the least gets a star, and Sight Seer: person who traveled the most gets a star. Their's also a bonus star for allies which makes them even better (and another one for having the ally that "matches" your character, which I still have no idea how that one works).
I really like special Dice blocks but it would still be nice to just play it normal. Some characters are also better on some courses according to their dice block. For instance the Island map, Shy Guy's only 4s block allows him to not hit pipe spaces which is pretty crucial to winning on that map.
I also found Boo and Wario to be the best in general, while Bowser and Boo/Wario are the best combination for teams.
Also an option to turn off mini games or at least motion controlled mini games would be nice, most of them are fine but there are 3 I found really janky, the description and example of what your supposed to do is way off and I had to figure one out myself, the other two I still have no idea what to do.
Basically the randomness of allies, random bonus stars, getting potentially screwed over more by dice blocks, makes the party mode in this not at all as enjoyable as previous ones. I do think Partner Party is actually one of the best things to come to Mario Party in awhile and I love this mode, the ally problem is kind of null in this one because you can just walk to them instead of getting lucky on a random number. This also makes bonus stars a little more balanced (still don't like them though), dice blocks can also balance each other out a little, so if you get a really crappy roll your partner can kind of make up for it.
To be fair, it's easier to call them Magikoopas instead of toadies since Toads are in this game as well.
Ah yes, the Mario Party series, the games I play alone!
3:10 Wasn't their last game Mario Party DS?
No. It was 7.
Nope, DS was actually Bowser Jr. first apearance and then 8 didn't have neither Jr. or the Koopa Kids.
Yes, it was DS.
The “next Mario party” should just be a 30$ expansion to Super Mario party with more characters, modes, maps, and mini games.
"they didn't want to tamper" 9, 10 & the handheld games
funny thing is, i live in austria and of course i played the game in german as a kid. and i always understood warios line as you said "so ein mist". but i always thought i mishear the correct line, cause no other character is speaking german.
Another fact: the mini game Mecha Marathon was a control stick spinning mini game in Japan, but when the English version was released the controls were changed to pressing A and B instead
3:10 *FALSE!* Hudson also developed Mario Party DS, which released months after Mario Party 8.
Everyone forgets Mario Party DS, when it was the last good Mario Party game before the Dark Age.
Ah yes, that game in which no pirates are allowed.
Do a video on that obscure Sonic Party game that's a rip off of Mario Party.
It's called Sonic Shuffle.
...
I don't know what else to say.
What’s there to say?
It was made by Hudson Soft, I guess lol.
@@DylanDude
Nothing, I guess.
The dice steak one is a stretch. Crazy how confident ya said that one tho lol
In challenge road, when you complete a level it makes the same sound as Mario Wii, U, and U deluxe.
Dazz: “Monty Mole will have a panicked expression”
Me: *thinking that he looks the exact same*
You have not lived until you played a full 50 turn game with 4 players on the original Mario Party. Most fun and painful night of my life.
Something that would really reboot the series for me, would be if they merge the MP style board game elements with more WarioWare style, quick-fire mini-games. I also really wish Wario had stayed as the Angry German Kid. Would be a fun contrast for him and Waluigi compared to the Italian-gibberish that M & L speak sometimes in the Mario & Luigi series.
“They didn’t want to tamper with the ideas that made mario party accessible.”
Mario Party 9 & 10: Hold My Beer
9:50 is that clip of snowflake lake from The Runaway Guys during their play through?
>when an old, N64 game was officially translated in italian
Finally, it's been so long since i've heard of an old Nintendo game being translated in that language
Monty Mole: "I'M SORRY, MY BRETHREN!"
To Monty Mole: those aren't even real, you've been slamming fakes!
I always assumed that was German since "Doh I missed" doesn't always make sense. I don't remember where but I recall hearing Wario was meant to be German so I assumed that his line was meant to be German. Glad to see some confirmation even if I was mostly just assuming shit from things I barely remembered.
I hope the next Mario Party game will allow players to wear themed costumes like in Mario Party 2 (even though MP2 has characters wore costumes by default)
5:22 They didn't want to tamper with the classic formula? What about the "everyone moves together" thing?
Great video my friend. Thanks for creating this.
It's nice to see a video that's not an ad from DYKG
The lack of an Italian translation for Mario Party 3 could be attributed to the decline of the N64 & the upcoming release of the GameCube. The game was a bit of an afterthought.
No mention of how the Snow Bunnies from Mario Party 6 are actually 3D recreations of an item featured in Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door, or that the same board features 3D Whackas from the same game?
No, that ice cream bunny is too cute to eat!!
"Koopa sama no boonsheen"
The Pinocchio reference was *probably* accidental and the creators thought "why not"...
I prefer their original idea, incorporating it into Toad's Japanese name, *Kinopio.* and the tree, kinda looks like Toad... makes more sense.
Wouldn't the steak minigame be translated as "Cook/Roll the DICED steak," since dicing food means to cut it into cubes? I get the feeling it's not meant to be dice in this instant.
It's worth noting that Mario Party DS (released between 8 and 9) was developed by Hudson Soft.
You can now punch people now for ruining your winning streak
A thing I've always wondered: Why did they put the Star Spirits in Mario Party 5 but then never reference the RPGs ever again in that series? Is it a deliberate embargo on using PM stuff in there, or do they really care that little about the series?
Also, somebody ask them about why they decided to whitewash Daisy in Mario Party 4, because seriously, what the fuck, that's all kinds of bullshit.
3:53 Production is mispelled as Porduction
I guess its a good time to say, SUPER MARIO PARTY SOUNDTRACK IS UNDERRATED.
The star moving music is short but beautiful.
The fact that Toadies are called Magikoopas in British English may not be a mistake, but a conscious change. Toadies are called Magikoopas in all European languages in Super Mario Party. Also, Super Smash Bros. Ultimate also features a Toady spirit. In Europe, the Toady spirit is called a Magikoopa spirit as well. It would seem confusing, since there are also other enemies in the Mario games called Magikoopas. However, the Magikoopas that Americans know are called Kameks in Europe.
Did you know? I've never played a Mario Party game before
Did you care? probably not
I care
What about the vibration tune in the joycon when it's your turn in mario party?
Everyone seems very upset about the mayor's disappearance
I may sound a bit dumb here, but what do you mean, "The mayor"? I'm a relatively newer fan of mario party, with my first MP game being 8, so I don't quite get what you're trying to say here, could someone please clarify?
@@phanterratic He probably means Pauline, since she isn't in the Mario Party games and she was the mayor of New Donk City in Mario Odyssey.
@@phanterratic do yourself a favor and emulate 2-5 they are top tier
FunnelCakeBoi Ummm... Good guess but no it actually comes from the dhmis TV show pilot
Phanterratic The Merciful It doesn't actually come from any Mario Party games but I does come from the dhmis TV show pilot
Can we please get a DYKG video about Namco's Tales series, featuring both Eugene and William Morris from the YT channel, The Brotherhood of Gaming?
The developers getting burnt out and wanting to get rid of the dice makes sense since the past few entries in the game haven't been the best with popularity
Mario party 4's old logo and website were so weird!
3:24
press f for the fallen...
"Dice" is a style of cutting food.
Did you know? We're never getting that promised mario party dlc
4:49 hmmm, waluigi yoshi and dasiy, do I sense the runaway guys
Inspiration from his daily life? Tf is this guy getting himself into?? 😂😂😂
I did wish they release the first game on the VC as the gamecube controller and wiiU have better thumb sticks.
Lol Wario says "So, I missed" Nothing german at all lol
5:29 Oh but not at ALL like the car right?
To be fair, the car happened after the developers changed.
Saikoro steak or "Dice Steak" is a Japanese entree. The closest thing in America is maybe steak tips so a direct translation doesn't exactly work.
I Love The -Quiet- Mario Party!
over 1000 people got them blisters?
i think it's way higher than that.
I'm from NL, did get those blisters (as well as a friend), Butt nobody spoke about lawsuits or anything.
So we said nothing, did nothing. And even then, its ridiculous to sue Nintendo for this self-inflicted harm.
Nobody told us to use our palm..
Did you know, Mario Party has caused over 7500 murder cases?
When your at McDonald's and the Wi-Fi doesn't work.
R.I.P. Koopa Kid
If only you got chuggaconroy to say DOH I MISSED
great episode :)
Ayy, I recognise that TRG gameplay in the background!
Can you do an episode on Wizardry or Etrian Odyssey?
But did they do Daisy on hard?
I miss the special ends per map of the first 2 games
number four is probably my favorite
Super Mario Party’s mini games felt like they were solely made to show off the Joycons
So what you're saying is... it's a mario party mini game?
its not supposed to be dice.
its a play on words when a chef cuts somthing into cubes its called dicing and past tense is it was diced meat.
I’m confused about the Bowser Jr. thing. I thought he was first officially referenced as his son in Yoshi’s Island (as I’m sure most people assume). Maybe he wasn’t actually introduced as such as it’s just the game playing on our assumptions and that’s what I’m not getting? That he was officially actually talked about as his son later on? Is that it?
It’s been so long since I’ve played that game. I love Yoshi’s Island.
Bowser jr is bowsers son, baby bowser is bowser himself as a baby
Destroying friendships since 1999
Wario being German explains SO much....
Please do a DYKG on Xenoblade
And have Chuggaa do it
And here i always thought he said
"No, I missed!"
Did you also know that Sonic Shuffle is by Hudson Soft, so its wrong to say its a mario party rip-off. Why would Hudson soft rip off something they created?
Did You Know that _Super Mario Party_ released with only four boards playable in the main mode? That’s the least in any mainline Mario Party ever and less than half the amount as some titles. Many Mario Party fans desperately want DLC broads to compensate for the lack there of at launch.
what does the steak dice part mean?? why does it matter if it's called a cube instead of dice?
Mario Party 2 will always be the best imo.
Don't care what you say, it's "D'oh I Missed" in my heart.
What the hell is a Toady (I live in the UK)
The voiceline of Wario got very popular in Germany.
Mario Party 2 is also probably the only nintendo 64 game to be translated in Italian
We're still gonna call it "D'oh I Missed!" Also, do you peeps think chuggaconroy'll OK after hearing that?
SUPPER MARI PARTY!
Decks out for Baby Bowser/Mini Bowsers. They died because of Bowser Jr.
diced steak was actually cubed steak? blew my mind.
1:54 Luigi doesn't do anything
nothingn't
Even Nintendo is confused on what a birdo is
3:54
"Porduction"?
I mean...
I always called Warruki Waa-dy...
I wonder if they will ever make a Mario Party that plays similar to Dokapon Kingdom...?
One time I was playing with my friend. He was in 1st and I was in 2nd (Down 2 stars). In Mario Party 3 we played on Waluigi's Island. I would sit on the separate island and not get Penalized because I rolled to safety.
It's Peach's turn. The island is Penalizing. She had two stars. I had 3. My friend had 5 (Long game type). My friend goes to the bathroom as I sat and watched Peach roll. She rolls into BOWSER'S Square. She ends up getting the trade items penalty. She trades ALL of her Stars to
Me
I begin screaming, swearing, and crying my eyes out over the fact. My friend goes Afk for the bathroom and he can hear me screaming. He comes back with utter shock on his face. Then swears up a storm. We were now tied.
I managed to beat him with one star, and Peach was in dead last.
The only time I wish it was recorded.
