The multiplication of each member of the equation by (1+i)^60 in minute 3:45 is unnecessary and makes the function much more complex.

if you dont know why that happens, you probably shouldnt be studying this method with this application

I think you made a mistake when plugging in the denominator in the Xn+1 function (i.e., it should be 48(1+Xn)^60).

Yes I also think he made a mistake there

@@ccluxi Yes. Not surprising but correct formula converges faster (5th approximation is 10 decimal digits of accuracy). The wrong formula converges too , which might make these kinds of errors difficult to catch.

Which method would you suggest for non equal installments?

    Thanks for the help.
if I add a new series of payment different from the one that already existed.
For example: $24000 is offered for payments of $450 per month for two years and payments of 600 per month for four years.
How do I solve this new problem?

Hi.. your video is very useful to me but when I apply this method to calculate this problem, at the end of each quarter a payment of $500 is made into an account which bearing interest compounded quarterly. If the annuity accrues to $7500 over three years, determine the nominal interest rate.
I didn't get the answer. Please can you solve this problem..
    Thank you....

How does the method handle the cases where the interest is negative?

Sir is there any way to find out interest rate by using log ?

  • @mmmwife

hi, I try using your method to do my homework. But I got the monthly rate in increasing pattern instead. Is it okay or it should be in decreasing pattern? Because yours is in decreasing pattern.

Why is x0 started from 1% sir?

    • @MathematicsTutor

You need to start from some value. 1% seems to be good value to take.
      Thanks
