@@justinneill5003 As far as I am aware, when they are on parade a loyalist/unionist tune is always followed by a nationalist/republican tune. The regiment celebrates St. Patrick's Day with the presentation of the shamrock, but not the Glorious 12th July, although the unionists/protestants within the battalion will celebrate that in there own way.
Dear me , fucking read a book, do you really thin tarriers from Northern Ireland join the British armed forces. As for nationalist tunes wtf are you talking about. St Patrick is buried in Northern Ireland in a Protestant church, 10% of the republic is Protestant and Arthur Guinness was a prod who funded the ulster volunteer force when it was an army regiment in the First World War. As for nationalists they are foreigners.

They're British soldiers. Not Micks. Don't be a moron. British born, living in the UK, fighting for their British country. But with a name like "Sid" I expect stupidity from you.
Another dickhead offended by everything, if you knew anything about the Army you would know it a term used by other Regiments to describe the Irish Regiments, as The Scots are described as Jocks, The Welsh as Taffs or Morgans, signals scalies etc etc, but with a name like Guy I suggest you look in the mirror if you think I’m a moron.
@@WeldersFSC just to add, you’ll find that a lot of these blokes are from the South of Ireland and the Commonwealth Countries which indicates they are not all British born but with a name like yours I’m not surprised you haven’t got a clue, another key board warrior who thinks he knows it all.
@@sidburgess8781 True, I'm from the South of Ireland and two of my neighbours joined the Royal Irish, plus I was a soldier in the Irish army and there was two Orange man protestants serving in out battalion, one was an officer and the other was senior NCO.
This is more like it boys. NO SURRENDER 🇬🇧 🎵🎶 It was old but it was beautiful and its colours they are fine, it was worn at Londonderry , Augherim, Enniskillen and the Boyne, my father wore it as a youth in the bygone days of yore and its on the twelfth i love to wear the sash my father wore
@@craigross341 very few locals and yet its very well documented that the opposite was true, look no further than the siege of 'derry'. Maybe he meant the battle of the boyne
@@ME-hs1ie Oh, of course. He was talking about the major battles. The siege of Derry was entirely about the locals. I think the status of the Boyne was a later view. Aughrim was the key battle, I think.
The Irish Guards seem a bit of an enigma. 35% of them are recruited from Dublin, Cork, Galway & Limerick, and another large chunk of them are from the Irish diaspora or of Irish Catholic heritage, from cities elsewhere in the UK. And yet here we have a group of loyalists in the Guards playing a presumably loyalist Protestant tune, which I understand is also on their official playlist for ceremonial duties. At the same time they also play Let Erin Remember, which clearly has connotations with the Irish Catholic identity, and Whiskey in the Jar, in which the hero is the highwayman and the villain is the British military official whom he robs. They recruit also from the north, and there is no barrier to anyone anywhere in Ireland of GB signing up; they celebrate St Patrick’s Day, wear the shamrock, and attend Mass before deployment (sometimes during.) Seems like a strange combination of opposing sentiments, but as far as I can tell they have excellent discipline and morale.
God bless the irish guards 💙🙏🏼❤💂🏼♂️😘

Some of them will be from the south and the "other tradition", and they'll do an equally good job on the music of the "other tradition".
I’m trying to figure this out, as they are a mix from north and south and Catholic and Protestant, are they OK with each other’s songs?
