@Manny: Photography became your day job?! YEAH! It's so great to see all your progression and passion for beautiful photos and the people around! Keep it on!
Congratulations Manny 🙌🏽🤭👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽 Seriously super happy for you 😭💯💯💯 What an incredible journey. From getting to speak with you in SF about quitting our jobs to now you opening a studio! So many blessings coming your way broski!!! 😇 Cheers!
bro, no-one cares about the floor... until you showed the old one. WOW! absolutely great decision. Changes the entire feel and would definitely help an individual's comfortability.
Wow, that is so cool having your own studio, and with a freaking kitchen, that's like my dream........little by little Im sure ya'll will make it look even better. congrats.
So happy for you and Diana. I found you from a review that you did of a Rokinon manual focus 135mm lens several years ago. it was dim and very different from the slick setup you have now but you were the same humble and honest person. You are one of the most pleasant and real people that do photography on youtube.
Hey bro I have the same setup with the backrolls. The weight problem is easily fixed with a holder in a wall. I screwed a hook in my wall and when adjusting the rolls, I just hook the chain to the holder. Now you can control your backrolls by yourself and don’t need clamps to hold them. Cheers.
I love your work, and what a great studio!! You should do well with it. I can see that you put a lot of thought into it. Yea on the white walls and ceiling too. I bounce light off my white walls and ceiling frequently for softer light. Multiple shooting directions with backdrops is something that I can only dream about having now. Private office? I'm in the back corner of my shooting room, camera right. Everything off camera gets done here. The hair/make-up/break area is in the hallway, but breaks usually take place in the middle of the shooting room. Bathroom is through a door behind the camera. Walk-in closet (gear storage) is behind camera left. My mannequin was bought when my wife refused to be my model for adjusting my lights after sitting there for 10 minutes. The mannequin (Linda) came from Amazon and was the cheapest that I could find @ $86. Her long blonde hair came from the Halloween section of Walmart and clothes from the local thrift stores, including several strapless evening gowns size 1. (I didn't think there were any size 1 women living around here). Brand new patent leather medium heel shoes size 6 too. She can stand without the base (found out by accident) when wearing those shoes. So, total cost = about $100. I guess my wife has decided that Linda was a good idea to keep me from asking her to pose for me again, because every once in a while, she comes home with more clothes for Linda. This sounds good, but this deaf and dumb woman mannequin is now taking over significant space in my gear closet for her wardrobe, and she doesn't even go shopping. I only needed one outfit to make her look decent, not a whole wardrobe. She does look nice with a different outfit on once in a while though. My studio is now in what had been a 2nd master bedroom suite on the 2nd floor of my home. (I refuse to completely retire, but downsizing became a necessity). The shooting room (former master bedroom) is 19 X 26' and only 8' to the ceiling (my biggest problem), but I'm making it work with multi-use designs and hanging things from the ceiling when I can, mostly to avoid light stand and power cable trip hazards on the floor. Tall standing models are a problem, so they get stools or chairs, or the floor. I built a ceiling support grid to help reduce the trip hazards. I still use floor stands, if I will be moving the lights frequently, but power for them comes from outlets above. I have never liked cables on the floor. They just invite tripping. Tripod stands are also avoided as much as possible in my little studio for the same reason. With this small studio, a design that eliminated the floor clutter and trip hazards as much as possible became a major design goal for me. When a light position on a stand becomes fixed, it gets hung from the ceiling grid in that position. (Wish I could post photos). I'm now restricting myself to only shooting friends and family. If I can get a donation for the printing costs, I'm happy. At 80, I'm too old to run it as a business, but I still love what I do. I've been a photographer since early high school and I've had several photography related businesses along the way. This was intended as a complement, plus a bit light hearted funny description of my mannequin, but it's all true. I have now subscribed to your channel. Keep up the great work. Charley
Congratulations you deserve it and your wife did amazing this is so inspiring. This why your one my idol and my friend Brandon Cole never forget the time I did a live with Brandon and you spoke was the best birthday gift ever .
Congratulations Manny! I've been watching you for a while; you come a long way. You and Diana are really blessed. Continue to work hard no matter what, take care of your family; take care of yourself. Cheers 🥂
Those look like Manfrotto expansion drives that hold your backdrop up by turning. There should be a small tension knob on the expansion drive that controls only the tightness of the chain. It's easy to miss. That should keep your backdrop in place. You may already know this. Happy New Year!! Nice set up
Congrats man! You're one of my favorite photographers and to see you growing like this makes me happy. Wishing you and Diana much more success in the future.

Check the way the rolls are hanging in the little groove on the impact background system. I had the same problem until I put them on properly. Love the studio and you’re an inspiration. My studio space is soooo much smaller.

About that 59" or ~5' or ~1.5m diameter Zeppelin (I have one too) - it is an awkwardly big ~octabox with diffusers on/in it and light from the back end. If you want "deep parabola" light, shine your strobe into it, cover the back opening, focus the light into the parabola's focal point and you get parabola light. The strobe on a second light stand (as designed) is really a messy process (but cheap). The focusing rod from Westcott us flimsy. So I had my handyman create a focusing system for it. A but cheaper, bottom line, than broncolor Para ... I use ~ as short notation for "about", or "sort of"
the support Manny gets from Diana 🙌🏽🙌🏽 just love you guys man
