  • Discussing drone data for stockpile volume estimation.
    Virtual surveyor makes it a lot easier!
    If you're currently doing this the traditional way, we'd love to show you how we do it with drones, saving your site engineers time.

    so how accurate is the stockpile measurement?

    • @droneworksuk
      @droneworksuk  2 года назад +1

      The data itself has an RMSE of 3cm, using GCP, check points and RTK drone, but the volume calculations are generally within 3% of laser scan or total station, whilst being much quicker and safer.
      Accuracy of the volume does tend to depend on the shape of the heap, but always within the required tolerances for material management.

      @@droneworksuk Ok Thank you. I am going to test it out on a stockpile with a known volume. Very interesting stuff

      Thanks. This was a P4RTK using DJI Pilot. Data was processed using Agisoft Metashape. DEM was cleaned and stockpile volumes calculated in Virtual Surveyor.

      @@droneworksuk Great work. Curious, is there a reason why you didn’t use either drone deploy of pix4d for it all?

      @droneworksuk  2 года назад

      Yes, RTK and GCP's / Checkpoints so we can validate accuracy.

      @@droneworksuk hi, why did you use VS and not Agisoft for meassures?

    • @droneworksuk
      @droneworksuk  2 года назад +1

      @@marinomazor.adventures VS provides better tools for removing objects from terrain such as machinery and also has better feature extraction making the volumes both more accurate and easier to calculate.
      VS also has a nice volume report creation 👍

      Thank you both for asking & answering this question! Was wondering if there was another software other than Pix4D for drone mapping. Cheers!
