- Vi starter høsten med et smell og en feiring av en gigant: Terje Rypdal - 70! 25. og 26. august feirer Terje Rypdal sitt runde år med to forrykende kvelder på Nasjonal jazzscene med gjester og helt nytt band. Med seg fra Elephant9 har han Nicolai Eilertsen og Ståle Storløkken, som grunnfjell hører du jazzlegende og trommeslager Pål Thowsen, «..den musikeren i Norge som spiller som Tony Williams», som Rypdal selv sier.
Disse fire er Terje Rypdal Conspiracy, lørdagsgroovende og herlige, som med utgangspunkt i eldre materiale, hovedsakelig fra Chasers- og Odyssey-perioden, revitaliserer historien til noe nytt, og starten på en ny æra. Det er all grunn til å glede seg til en inspirert Rypdal som leker med historien sammen med en fritenkende generasjon hardtfunkende musikere. Velkommen på fest!

I am 57 years old and my brother and I have been listening to Terje Rypdal since the early 70s.. The only musician in our age to reach beyond the Universe and back with his amazing sound... It was never about the guitar with Mr Rypdal. But all about something so deep so far and so vast ...

I became a fan when "Odyssey" came out more than 40 years ago, and still am. Still listen to "Odyssey" from time to time. Terje Rypdal/Miroslav Vitous/Jack DeJohnette. Whenever I Seem to Be Far Away. To Be Continued. Vossabrygg. Electronic Sonata for Souls Loved by Nature. Morning Glory. The Hapless Child. Three Day Moon. Actions. Kartā. The concerts with Palle Mikkelborg & Zeitkratzer. His solos always were highlights. His music almost always transcends life. Never been disappointed. So happy to have found this!

Whenever I Seem To Be Far Away...still my All time favorite ECM LP. Saw Terje perform in a small venue in Soho...Manhattan several years ago. Absolutely superb.
He is right up there with Steve Howe and Robert Fripp,only discored two months ago, unsung here in the US
Good to see you still making music, Terje! I followed you and your guitar all my life and Odyssey is still one of my favorite discs, keep on rockin...

ps. In retrospect Rypdals Odyssey group from the 70s was his best.

he may be old but you need some years to make Music like this , had a awsome night drinking some bears and ijust enjoy thx terje,,,rank him top 10 in all time guitar players...love mads eriksen and steve vai,satriani and yngwie malmsten but in a way if you get older and pass 50 this is Music !!!!!!!medley for my Hart. Très grand virtuose de la guitare, un son et une ambiance uniques, mes albums préférés (trio avec Vitous et dejohnette, Descendre, Eos, Chaser, Odissey….) je ne m’en lasse pas depuis 1985🥹 le temps s’écoule si vite mais le talent de Terje est impérissable !!!
