Pest is derived from French word peste and Latin word pestis which means plague or contagious disease.
Definition of pest - Any living organism which is harmful to human concerns ( agriculture, livestock etc.,) is considered as pest.
Examples of pest are - plants, animals, insects, microorganisms, rodents , spiders,mites etc.,
