      @@solomons-c5x Most people feel nervous in the test, so that's not unusual. Just allow yourself to be nervous and try your best.

    Good evening Mr Lar Ryan I'm going to ask a question . How can I improve my reading

    • @LarRyan
      @LarRyan  3 месяца назад

      What do you think is your biggest problem with reading at the moment?

    • @Ibrohimjonodiljonov6260
      @Ibrohimjonodiljonov6260 3 месяца назад

      @LarRyan I think I have problems with understanding the passage I can't get the meanings of long sentences and the vocabulary I often make mistakes by lacking vocabulary in the questions and in the passage

    • @LarRyan
      @LarRyan  3 месяца назад

      @@Ibrohimjonodiljonov6260 It sounds like you need to learn more vocabulary. You can also guess the meaning of words from the context, but in general, studying vocabulary is going to be the most effective solution.

    I hate following the bullets (I don't like dealing with the unknown!!) so I use a strategy I call the IDPOF method when doing these questions. IDPOF stands for Introduction Description Past Opinion and Future. During the 1 minute, I just write each letter down the page and jot 1 or 2 words to remind me about what to talk about. I find this method is pretty flexible and I can talk about anything for around 2-3 minutes.
    For this question, the points could be:
    Introduction - about who I met and when
    Description - what we did / description of the home
    Past - maybe how we met / why we knew each other / why they invited me
    Opinion - what I thought / if we had a good time, etc
    Future - if / when I plan on seeing this person again in the future.
    I find that when I do this method, I end up talking about all the bullets anyway but with way less stress.
    I should note that I teach although I rarely help people with IELTS anymore. I host a daily speaking challenge though and I still recommend this method to the advanced-level speakers. I use it to practice speaking in my own TL too!
