Hungary's Michelle Gulyas overhauled France's Elodie Clouvel on the final laser run to win the women's modern pentathlon gold medal at the Paris 2024 Olympics. Seong Seung-min of the Republic of Korea collected the bronze.

Michelle Gulyas has won the gold with a world record. She is the last athlete in modern penthatlon who won the gold at the Olympics while horse racing was still part of the sport. She became an Olympic Champion after she nearly missed the Games because the federation planned to send another athlete instead of her after Gulyas were in poor form.
She won the gold medal in front of thousands of people in France, in Versailles which is a very important place in the history of Hungary - the treaty of Trianon took away 2/3 of Hungary's territory and population in 1920. She beat a French athlete.

Hungary is 19th. Poland is 42nd. It is sąd for me because my country is 4 Times bigger than Hungary.
