  • Navigating Native Land and Water in the Seventeenth-Century Chesapeake is the theme of this book, by Jessica Taylor.
    Presented in Gainesville's Matheson History Museum, Dr. Taylor talks about the early English settlements in the Virginia Chesapeake area, and especially the Native American presence and interactions, including politics and war.
    Introductions by Dr. Matt Jacobs, currently acting Interim Director of the Samuel Proctor Oral History Program.
    This book talk adds to the ongoing oral history project, Tidewater Main Street Development Project Oral History Project, to provide an historical context for this area of Virginia.
