I love Hakone and the famous onsen hot springs! I'm not sure if it's true or not but the locals say that Mt. Fuji is a shy gal and likes to hide behind the clouds. So it's rare to see it on a nice sunny day.
I've been to Japan once, but I'm planning to go again in August. I'll be investing in a JR pass -- what would you suggest is the best way to get to Mt. Fuji? I really want to climb the mountain the way you guys did. It looks so fun!
When you were in Hakone I thought wow that reminds me a lot of Rotorua, especially with Duncan's egg comment, and then laughed when you said it reminded you of that as well

Rotorua was pretty nice when I went. We stayed at Ann's Volcanic Motel? I think. The drive there from Auckland was interesting for me, because the landscape is just so different from Canada. The only bad thing was that a guy t-boned us in a roundabout, lol. On my thirtieth birthday. And of course, on my side. We had to drive back to Auckland the next day with thick plastic duct taped to where my window used to be. XD
