Love those old sleds! I grew up on them, we had old sleds because new ones were expensive. I saw two at your show that I literally put thousands of miles and hundreds of repairs on, lol. Ski-doo Nordic and Elan. If you had 40 hp back in early 70’s you had a powerful machine. Jumps hurt! Lol
I’m glad the riot continues to improve. I was going to order a 2021, but found a great deal on an 18 El Tigre 600. Maybe in another year or two as my wife gets into the sport more. Not the best season....... But I did get 1400 miles in 3 trips north.
Must have lots of snow after Thursday storm? We got a 12in here, but north got upwards of 24-30. Season has been frustrating, going to get mild all week again 😔
About the top speed on mine too. And as for wheelies depending on your torsion spring seeting. I had mine on the softest and if i turn the front shock preload up about 1.5 turns it will wheelie like your assault.
Thanks for sharing the suspension settings. I've heard a lot of "it can be set up to lift the skis like the Assault" but no one has actually said what they've done. I know when the rev xp came out a lot of guys set their sleds up to wheelie all day but handling really suffered which is not my goal. But if I could get a little more front end lift like the Assault and still get it to handle decent on trail that would be perfect In my opinion. I'll have to give that setup a try
Gotta travel a little bit brotha! I’m in Rhode Island and managed 1200 miles out of central New Hampshire...wasn’t easy miles but it’s miles. What part of CT?
I picked up a new 2018 zr 8000 sno pro 2 months ago, at 300 miles I hit a top speed of 97, at 700 miles speedo hit 107 in perfect conditions. It is the ctec2, no mods. Just thought I'd share that.
That makes sense, was just mentioning here that would not surprise me at all if 800 ctec Riot, top speeds out just about the same as 850 , with my logic being that, AC did not make an 850 because they felt with some tweaks it compete with them, and it will.
@@jasoncampeau2948 that sucks. Any idea what broke? My dealer said they have not had one of those first ctec2 engines back for issues, he did say that they've already had a couple of the 2020 versions back for rebuilds. As of last night I have 998.9 miles and have not had 1 issue, no wait, my headlight flickered once for half a second very early on. I get same fuel use as friends 600 and used less oil most of the time.
How do you like riding a 144 and a 146 in the old Forge area and all the snow conditions. I have a 800rr and it got pretty hot on a couple of the icy days. I’m looking to get a 137 or 146 for my next sled. But I’m worried about a longer sled and keeping it cool
For old forge I feel like they really dont give up all that much to a 129. On trail 10 that's pretty much the only time I'd say a 129/121 is preferable. Around my house the trails are tight like trail 10 and if I rode those a lot i'd probably want to be on a shorter sled but for the long straights and sweeping turn in forge and a lot of tug hill the 144/146 does very well. The riot comes with the scratchers which help big time but I've only had it over heat twice this season. Once in December after going from the parking lot to the trail head with low snow and once yesterday riding a lot of low snow parking lot to get to our cabin both times the scratcher weren't down (I wasnt on it so I couldnt keep an eye on it to put down the scratchers). Overall they dont have too much of an issue at all with overheating I wouldn't worry too much about that.
You should talk to Gary (mudbrat) about the uclear would have been handy on this ride. Great channel love watching both this channel and mudbrat channel. I look forward to the next podcast
Oh shoot! I was just looking at these videos because I have a Riot 8000, and I was like "oh these trails look so much like Old Forge!" then i saw you pull onto 4th lake on daikers' property and i was like "oh shit! I have a house on that lake!" lmao
Knew it....tried to tell others.,trip coming up week of March 13th , Grand Mesa CO, will report what I get there at 10k elevation. Would not surprise me in time it will have about same top speed as your 850.
Can tell you that my Riots power has gotten so good my arms are sore at the end of the day from the pull...lol. been out of commission last couple of weeks due to tangle with cattle fencing while riding in the deep stuff in the meadows, Riot saved my life!
Can you do a few videos of big moose lake racing and 4th lake racing on the weekends I used to race up there in the 90s and early 2000s now live in Florida so I never get to see it ..
Unfortunately I missed the Big moose drags this year. Hopefully I can catch them next year. Havent heard of 4th drags but I'll make sure to keep an eye out for them!
Did you change your spindles out from stock? I thought the spacers were pressed on, didn’t know you could change the spacers to the other side of the spindle??
I can tell u I have a 2012 ski doo 800r etec tnt with 6,000 miles and raced my buddy’s brand new riot 8000 with about 1,100 miles on it. He hooked up at the start and got the jump and pulled where my short track spun (no studs) and I just blew right by him. He said he was pinned to the bar when I flew bye. I’m not talking dog walking him slowly, I mean I ripped right by him and was gone. Not sure how fast my stock 800 etec really is, I’d say just guessing 100-107mph if you were to radar it.
I spring ordered the sled at the end of last March and it currently has about 35 hours it's a great sled just doesn't have any top end, it is by far the best sled I have ever rode suspension wise but probably gonna go back to a 4 stroke next year

Really enjoy your videos and reviews. I bought a 2020 850 Assault based on u really liking yours and it’s the most fun sled I’ve ever had!!
The riot hit 100!! And that's awsome you love your spindles mabye next year I might have to check some out for my sks

Mad not having enough snow hell I'm from Connecticut haven't had snow since December no riding sleds year crappy winter all over new England

My cousin bought the same sled , worked great for 4 days of our trip.. then quit running.

Curious where this ride took place ?
Great video
Do you know how far you can go on a tank of oil before it would be empty on the Riot?

Rode that area last year for 1st time. Fantastic for sure. Scheduled to go again in Feb 2021.
So what the Polaris top speed?
110 mph on the gauge
What was top speed on the assult?
110 MPH on the gauge. Assault has a 1.6 lug track the Riot has a 1.3.

Yes MTN side products spindles so they're adjustable from 42.5, 41.5, and 40.5.
What type of mileage you getting with your 850?
Worst I see is 13, i see 15 mpg pretty regularly and the best I've seen is 15.6 mpg
I can hit 110 on my 1998 ZR 600 EFI
Pretty sure I saw you at Slickers last night lol
Yup I was there!
My 2016 Skidoo 800 did 116 miles.(bone stock) Cat is way behind the 8 ball.
bullshit it did. maybe on the speedo, but not on a GPS
yeet

Never trusted speedo. Get it on GPS
Cats speedo are very accurate with in 1-3mph to gps
Skidoo their like 10-15 off
@@vicfixer378 mine is about 8-10 mph off to gps
@@fxnytroxtxFPP I agree, my 2018 zr8000 sno pro 129 is within 3mph also. Sustained 107 per speedo in very nice conditions.
Ski-Doo
I'm lucky if I can hit 90 with my riot 8000.
Year and miles?
2020 riot 8000 with q3s's got 1100 miles mainly on tug hill
I spring ordered the sled at the end of last March and it currently has about 35 hours it's a great sled just doesn't have any top end, it is by far the best sled I have ever rode suspension wise but probably gonna go back to a 4 stroke next year
@@damianzimmer2545 Going back to 4 stroke is a step back no doubt. How come you want to be going 90+ mph on a sled?
I can't stand the sound of these new machines🤢🤮 I'm going to stick with my old zrt800
